Predatory prices that prey on those who are ignorant about cars. I booked a full service with a local garage via Fixter. The price was competitive and the garage had a reasonable reputation on google. About 2 hours after dropping of my car I received an email informing me that more work was 'required' on my car, specifically that I needed an Engine Flush, Fuel Treatment and Brake fluid flush & replacement. They told me that that these would be necessary to stop my car from failing its next MOT. Each item was priced at around £60, so with the information that this was important work and the cost associated with it I assumed there would be another few hours of work that could only be done by a mechanic. But when I confirmed this work, I got an email not 8 minutes later that the work was completed. I picked my car up, very confused as to how I was charged £190 for TEN minutes work. That was because I was taken for a ride by Fixters huge mark ups. For example engine flush fluid is £5 at Halfords, its just a chemical added to the engine as part of an oil change. Fuel Treatment is also £5, you just pour it into the fuel tank. Both of these were charged at £65 with no labour attached. Engines being flushed is not even tested on an MOT, so this was a lie. When I called to complain with Fixter I was told I would get a call back from the person who deals with knowing about cars, but I've yet to hear from him despite many calls and emails to try and get in contact. They clearly have no interest in dealing with customers once the money has been taken. In the end I was charged £360, I estimate I would have been charged around £200-£230 if I had just cut out the middle man. The garage refused to tell me how much it would have been because they have been shouted at before by Fixter for doing so. Do Fixter dont even treat the people doing all the acutal work very well. I booked with Fixter for convienance, and to try and avoid being scammed by a garage. But all it did was leave me with a stressful weekend trying to work out if the work had been done correctly in such a short time, and finding out I've been scammed by Fixter instead. I made a £160 mistake so you don't have too, avoid at all costs.

Where do I start its so long ago. Fixter diagnosed the problem on the 5th January Which I approved. Then on the 8th I approved more extra work and was told that the repaired vehicle would be returned on the 10th, 11, 12 and 16th! Then after the car was supposed to have been fixed another bill on the 16th repaired vehicle would be returned on the 19th, 22, 26, 27, 31 and 1st,2nd and 6th February. Then on 5th February another Bill this time the repaired vehicle would be returned on the 16th, 21st, 23, 27, 29, March 5th and 11th At this point I asked for confirmation that there would be no extra costs I got a email confirming this. Still no car. I have billed them for the value of the car and have a CCJ which they have not paid. They do not communicate at all There latest thing is £10,891.67 for a refurbished engine.!!!

Not a good experience! I booked my car in for an MOT and service. There were some advisory findings from the MOT which I gave the go ahead and paid for (you need to pay before they proceed). The car was delivered back ok but no physical MOT cert. I waited a few days for it to be uploaded to the gov.uk website but this didn’t happen. I rang Fixter about this and the car now needs to be picked up again to do the MOT all over again. I think the garage probably messed up but the customer is the ultimate loser. Poor!

I wish I read this review website before booking Fixter. My car is making a knocking sound and shudders/ vibrates when breaking at high and low speeds. My car had diagnostic check and nsf wheel bearing replaced at a cost of £287. A further advisory work of £482. Taking the total amount of work to over £700. I just said look just concentrate on wheel bearing nsf. Got the car back driving worse than before. The car pulls to the left when driving! Took it to ATS they did a visual check, told me that the passenger wheel has play on it. Rang Fixter support team still waiting for them to rebook the car in at the garage to fix the play on the wheel. I do not want to drive my car at the moment does not feel safe! NO RESPONSE FROM FIXTER.

AVOID - SCAMMERS They collected my car for an MOT service, and sent back a list of £800-worth of recommended 'fixes'. I was stressed and concerned about the amount of money this would cost, and was a little skeptical as I had never used Fixter before. I called the local guy from home that my family uses (and that I used to use before moving to London), and he told me a number of things on the list were not even plausible with the model of car I had, and that I should take my car into him. I did take my car to him, and after checking the list of fixes they suggested, he said it was absolute rubbish and they were clearly taking advantage. They had also missed a couple of crucial fixes my car did need. Absolute scammers, waste of time and money. Whatever response they write to this comment, ignore it

Found these online, quote was £75.95, thought that was reasonable. Only needed new brake pads on the front of my car. Got an email the day before going there to tell me the quote had changed and it would cost me £146 .....absolute joke. Should be the quote given straight away on the website and not £60 less than it will actually be. Pisstakers. They have the nerve to want £20 to cancel the booking, well I refused to pay it. I wasn't paying £146 either when the quote was £75.95. So when i contacted about it, they had decided i needed a new sensor.....where had they got that from? I had booked front brake pads. When i responded with that, they then tried telling me i would have a light come on if i didn't get a new sensor too. I told them i wasn't going to the booked appointment and i wasn't paying the £20 cancellation fee either. Anyway i booked in somewhere else and had my brake pads done and guess what? No light has come on and I've had no issues. These are scammers and can't be trusted.

Please do not use this company, luckily I cancelled after reading all the bad reviews. However when I phoned to cancel they were very rude. Then the guy still arrived to pick up my car, obviously assuming I was going to change my mind, when I didn’t change my mind his tone completely changed and he was very rude as if I had wasted his time, but I did cancel! I was charged £20 for cancellation too! I don’t trust this company at all…!!!!

AVOID. You end up paying twice the amount agreed to get your car back from the garage because you cannot speak with anyone at fixter. Lots of overpriced little jobs added like replacing a working light bulb for £24!!!

They took my Range Rover for replacement of all four brake pipes . My car was picked up and then it all aent downhill. The daily cry off of return was galling, despite email updates of poor service! No car has been returned nor money back simple 'updates' from a non returnable email address. Poor communication blaming their chosen garage for ordering the wrong part. Pathetic 'service' and galling silence. My Solicitor and Police have advised that a daily charge can be added now for my time without transport. My car must be returned in good order with no transport accidents or lack of care for my car whilst the work must be done for the AA to check. I am both angry and let down by this shoddy aervice. Trustpilot must explain it's reviews as all are full stars ridiculous.

I will never use this company again. My car conveniently failed it’s MOT due to “dirty brake fluid”, I was then charged an extortionate price to repair and pass. If I did not pay then they would not return my car back to me so I would have to try and travel 45 minutes with a toddler to pick up my car. I called fixter to dispute the price before confirming as I felt it was high (nearly double other online estimates). I was told by Callum that the garage set the price and that he would contact them to try and negotiate a better price and call me back. I then receive a call back to say the garage would not reduce the costs and told the price was inflated as they use “high quality brake fluid”. I had no choice really but to confirm the work with Callum as I was pretty much stuck and needed the vehicle back. Shortly after got a call from the garage asking me whether I wanted to go ahead with the work as they had not heard anything from me. I advised the mechanic that I had just got off the phone with fixter and was confused as to why he was not aware that I was disputing the charge and Callum had told me he had contacted him to ask about the price. The mechanic then advised me that they had not heard anything from fixter and that it is fixter who sets the price not him, he is just told by then whether to do the work or not. I then called back fixter to complain as it is clear that Callum lied to me and fixter do not want to reduce the price. He pretty much admitted to lying and said that he said that because he was trying to work out with his colleague if there was anything they could do. He apologised and said customer service will contact me regarding compensation and or some sort of reimbursement. I waited nearly a week with no contact from them so I made a call to then be told there is nothing they can do. I was told I was not forced to accept the work and that the dishonesty will be dealt with in house. I was told that I need to think of it from a business point of view and the reason they will not reduce price or reimburse me because fixter will not make a profit. Completely unprofessional ! Never again would I use this company and don’t recommend anyone else to either.

Major issues with my booking but, what makes it worse when speaking to a customer service agent. (i have so far spoken to a few) apart from being told "someone will call back within 15 minutes" (they never do) the agents sounds completely depressed as if they are being forced to do their job. I would personally sack the trainer and get someone in to motivate their staff!.

Thought I'd give Fixter a try , wish I'd never heard the name . The garage they gave me quotes for . Asked for my van to be dropped between 8:30-9:30 in the morning . Dropped at 8:30am for a 3-4 hour job . At 5pm I was notified they didn't have the fan belt for my Campbelt change . Bearing in mind this was booked 2 weeks in advance . They would be keeping my van for another day . With all my tools inside and noway to collect them . As a manager I asked for to call me back didn't bother . After 2 more calls still a manager is yet to call . I had a job booked in for a full shutdown of a medical supply telephone sales office . So all staff had been told to take that shift off 10 hours . So I had to call their Director up at home on his personal number . To tell him at 7pm I couldn't do the job . Hence now ther is talk of a public liability claim . For loss of earnings , due to having to shut down not once , but twice . Due to this inept company and the garage on their books . Its now 14:35 on the 2nd day of the job . Still I've yet to be contacted by a manager . Told at one point a manager wasn't going to speak to me . Unless I write and send him an email first of my complaint . So in other words didn't really care , wasn't worried about anything . Just sat on his .... .... bum , never has I as a director of my own company. Ever been treated like this before . They think their getting paid . More likely to be sued for 10 hours of 2 floors of telephones sales losses . They want me to connect back to single phase so atleast they can use phones for next shift . My deadline for this is 6pm . Its 14:40pm now . Its a 2hr drive into and across London . So more likely than not it will be a 6 figure liability settlement . By Fixter as I and my public liability holders . Will be pointing them straight in Fixters direction . All I've been told so far is lie after lie after lie . Feel sorry for the customer service guy on the end of the phone . As he keeps trying and the managers keep lying . I've lost out on £250 for the day

From the Fixter Website: "How it works: Painless car maintenance" - if you are lucky, it might be - but if anything goes wrong you'll wish you hadn't: I booked our car for an MOT with Fixter. Driver arrived a bit early to pick the car up (good) but there was no formality - no ID from the driver, no check of the vehicle, just hand over the car and they take it Unsettling, but OK, I can live with that. Got updates throughout the day (so far so good) and the car was due back between 2 & 4. Unfortunately, I lost track of time and didn't notice until after 6 that the car was not back with us - no messages or updates and no one to contact. Car was eventually dropped off at about 7pm - no explanation, no apology. That's a 2* review - THEN on Monday, we are contacted by our insurance company because the car had been in an accident on its way back to us - but no one had told us - and a claim had been made against our insurance! I've spent the morning trying to sort it out - discovered some minor damage on our car (cause of course there was no check when it was given back either). Fixter's response? Blame it all on the garage - no offer of help, no offer of compensation - I was your customer Fixter - my contract was with you - the damage was caused by you. (and in case I get the bland response to this review - "please contact us" - that was your 'complaints' department' who fobbed me off with nothing). So, it has been anything but painless. Fixter has added no value to the process but their involvement has made it more (not less) complicated. As with so many things - avoid going through an intermediary - it's fine if it all works but if it doesn't you realise that they are just taking your money - they add 0 value.

What a terrible experience! I booked my car in for an MOT... it was collected.. It failed.. fair enough, but I wasn't told why and then they billed me, took the payment from my credit card without authorisation and fitted a poor quality tyre despite my car originally having 4 Continentals tyres. Without any communication, the car was returned to me with a crappy tyre, a large bill and no one to complain to despite leaving numerous answerphone messages and emails

This is the 2nd year I have booked… This is the 2nd year I have booked with Fixter and they have let me down-both times. Good model if it works....... March 2023-I booked MOT service for last week Thursday.I had to ring them as the garage did not communicate/show up to collect the car between 8.30 to 10.30am as advised. Another slot was booked for the next day-Friday.Same thing happened; No show and no communication from the garage🙃. The MOT was expiring on Saturday. Another slot booked today.Again, no show... Fixter offered another slot for Thursday. I had to cancel and find an alternative garage as I need my car for work.I also did not trust them that my car will be collected on Thursday. The administration staff are helpful but the company needs to have reliable garages as they are letting the company down. Date of experience: 16 March 2023
