AXA is probably one of the most untrustworthy names in motor insurance. I’ve been a customer with AXA for a few years and any opportunity they get to shaft their customers they do it gladly. I’ve experienced this 1st hand, I am 36, Full Irish license and over 10yr no claims bonus was driving a 1.6 golf changed to a 3.0L jeep and they hit me with a charge of €400 extra bringing my premium to over €1200 and was told that’s all we can do for you! In the meanwhile, got a quote from AIB of €869.10, Guess who was underwriting the car insurance, that’s right it was our resident price gouging company AXA! When I pointed this out to them they had every excuse under the sun, it wasn’t the same cover etc. just be very wary of these Rip off merchants

If I could haven given a no star rating I would have.!! Got an excellent quote from Axa for my daughter who had just purchased her first car. Insured in her own name and myself as a named driver. Paid the deposit and the first months instalment only to receive a letter threatening that her insurance was going to be cancelled in ten days time if she did not provide proof of her driving experience which she had already emailed them! After a lot of hanging around on telephones, emailing and leaving messages to call her she finally got speaking to someone from Axa who told her that she needed to send them a letter from the Company’s insurance whom she’d been a named driver with stating that her name has been removed from this policy and additional proof stating she was the sole and exclusive driver of the vehicle. We were then informed as she was not the sole driver of the company vehicle( I also drive it) that her named experience 2 and half years was not acceptable and the policy premium was increasing by just over 700 pounds a year leaving it over 2000 pounds. Had this been the original quote I would have been happy enough but to spring this on her some six weeks later? And why not except the 2 and half years named experience. My daughter who has been a named driver on a company vehicle for 2 and a half years Apparently has no driver experience at all!! At the time of purchase of the insurance I explained exactly her named driving experience to the representative we spoke too and there was no hint at all that this would be unacceptable. I can not For the life of me understand why a named driver on a large company’s insurance policy would not be acceptable And why it took them So long to inform us of this. Bitterly disappointed with Axa and would certainly not recommend them to anyone. And will not be renewing the policy next year or considering them again!!

With over 92% of unsatisfied customers on trust pilot. A large company like AXA has been the worst at dragging their feet at paying out to those, including me who had to cancel their foreign trip due to the pandemic back in March. After doing everything to help out to support the claim by calling the hotels and airlines. AXA should frankly be stopped from providing insurance and be investigated by the financial ombudsman.

In my 64 years with many different investment accounts Equitable/AXA was the absolute worst. I had to be very disciplined and patient waiting for my contract to mature so I could withdraw my money and reinvest with professionals. And then the "Withdrawal Fee" to have a check written for my own money was astronomical! My money with AXA earned 1.079% LESS than money I had in CDs during the same period. Stay away from Equitable/AXA! Caveat emptor!!

They are expensive and I didn’t find my experience with them a good one, and that was without making any claims. So no I wouldn’t recommend them.

Do not go to AXA for your insurance, my wife's watch has taken nearly a year for them to finally tell us that because it was personalised we are not insured. When I purchased the watch I it was personalised, at not point was I asked this by AXA and because of this apparently this watch is uninsured. On taking out the policy I was told a number of times that I would be covered for any accidental damage. As it has taken so long for them to sort out my claim the watch has deteriorated even more than when we tried to make a claim. You must service your watch at the main manufactures otherwise it will not be insured. I was unaware that this was the case. Please don't get caught out like I did. I am still waiting on contact and every day this goes on my watch is getting more water damaged and rotting.

Terrible communication and shocking lack of customer care. On the rare occasions I could finally get through I attempted to get my bank changed over which you'd think was simple. They continued to try to take it from an old account so payment failed. As I was having so much trouble I decided not to renew. Just to add salt into the wounds they beat me to it and cancelled my policy because of payment problems. Cheap insurance but you really get the service you pay for.

STAY AWAY FROM AXA!! Having used AXA for over 5 years, paying them over £7000 with no incidents, logged a claim with them in Dec 2019 and didn't receive a single update until JUNE when i was looking for a renewal. Once the update was received, they promised to close the claim but didn't, which increased my further premiums 2 fold in error, then waiting for them to resolve this meant i had to wait weeks to purchase new insurance, which then added over £200 because i needed it immediately as my cover had expired. I was told in no uncertain terms by the agent, it was my own fault i had no insurance because i didn't renew and if he was me - he would have paid whatever he had to to remain insured! totally delinquent and unapologetic whilst admitting he hadn't done his job! unbelievable!

CANCELLATION OF CAR & AUTO RENEWAL OF MY HOME INSURANCE! This Company was very good in the past; whether it be for Car Insurance or Home Insurance. Vary recently they became ridiculously RUDE from the point of customer service provision as well as premium wise! Their Premiums is 2 times higher than an average insurance provider? Also for the car insurance purpose; when you try to change the vehicle even with an exactly same vehicle; i.e. with a different vehicle which bears exact value, exact insurance group, even same year etc or with a vehicle lower insurance group and a cheaper value; they will still try to charge a substantial amount of additional charge! This is ridiculous and they assume that we are living in the 19th century and they ignore your knowledge and ability to find cheaper quotes? My car insurance after the point of change was due to expire in 8 months 2 weeks; I cancelled my car insurance got a refund of £721 for 8 month and 2 weeks, found another insurance provider for the whole year which is only £742. So this tells me something that they are charging me almost 27% extra. I am not stupid enough to pay the extra premium for the change of car! So I am happy that I got my insurance cancelled with the AXA; now my Home insurance is expire; again the premium they are asking is almost 40% than the average competitors! Hence the company AXA has killed itself by trying to charge us so much extra premium assuming that we are stupid and we are going to swallow it! Now the AXA is the crappiest insurance company I have ever seen! Not any more bye bye AXA. Please find yourself someone whom you can rip off! It is not me any more! I will be posting this comments all of the Insurance forums!!

Terrible Insurance Company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My partner took an insurance out with them and just a month later they have cancelled his insurance policy. They have admitted it is their error but as they have already cancelled it there’s nothing they can do. He now has to declare that he’s had a policy cancelled on him which has sent his premiums through the roof.

I had my car stolen on my drive way, in October 2019, with a CCTV footage of the whole incidence and a police report confirming the CCTV Video, yet AXA insurance claim that they are still looking for my Car, and has refused to pay, or replace my car.

Home Insurance direct with Axa: I was forced to file a claim online yesterday at 1pm limited to 250 characters because nobody answered the phone for 4 hours. Upon logging my claim online, I was then told on email to expect a call within 4 hours, from an advisor, during normal working hours (9-5/Mon-Fri) yet nobody called. It’s now the following day and I’m still on the phone waiting for an advisor at 2.27pm for someone to answer after calling their claim number 5 hours 08 minutes ago, no incoming call from them either or a follow up on email as of yet. Ridiculous.

Axa cancelled my insurance after I had called to arrange another payment plan during the covid-19 outbreak and also charged a cancellation fee knowing I was struggling financially at the time. One lady Debbie went to sort it all out for me upon explaining my current situation. We were cut off our call and I called the company back. The gentleman I spoke to then, made me aware there was nothing more the company could do for me and had alreadybeem cancelled. I was absolutely gutted at a time I needed my vehicle the most. I explained I currently work voluntary for the Royal Voluntary Service, am a full time carer for my neighbour and have three children also to take care of two, of which have additional needs. I had also lost my gran and several other people over a short period of time and grieving. I am still, a week on so very frustrated with Axa for not coming to a agreement between us when I had also explained that, I hadn't read my emails and received their email 48hr later. I contacted them as soon as I saw a message from their team. Still nothing was done on Axas behalf. Would avoid the company

My claim was through Coverwise who say they are linked with AXA. Coverwise are impossible to contact, the web directs you to AXA. I've tried to call AXA with zero success! The AXA online forms cant be opened or accessed. How these companies are able to remain operating in the UK is a joke! Avoid at all cost.
