I have been with Budget for several years but got charged an additional amount of £20 because the card payment failed and it was because the end date was wrong and I hadn’t realised. I rang and explained giving the correct details but they wouldn’t remove the charge. I won’t renew with them next year as they were more expensive this year but I stayed out of loyalty……..they obviously don’t allow you to make one small error so no loyalty from them as a company!

I had 9 years no claims & last year I caught my back wheel arch on a gate at work. I enquired about having it mended through my insurance, but decided to do it privately costing me £700. This year when I got the cost of my renewal policy I think it was almost double of what I paid last year. Apparently even though I only enquired about using my insurance it cost me 6 years no claims. I tried to explain this but was told the panel would look at it on the 1st of march. Because my renewal was so ridiculously high I had to take out a pay monthly option & have still not heard from budget. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement as they had been brilliant up until now. I'm hugely unhappy.

You took over my car insurance from O2. I was unable to read my contract before commencement but I am paying £13 a month more than O2, not sure what I'm paying for

When went to renew price had risen from previous year. As soon as I said moving to new area gave post code for new development your operative said no history for that post code despite half estate being half occupied told we’d have to pay further £500 on top of renewal premium. Told to ring back when moved in, did so and told not £500 but extra £96 + £20 for change of address despite not making any claims in previous year. Feel ripped off and will question renewal when time rolls around.

Haven’t had a bad experience with budget insurance Been insuring with you for a number of years just don’t understand how the price of insurance keeps going up 🤷🏻‍♂️ Surely loyal customers should get some kind of discount. Will be looking elsewhere next year. Sorry 😐

Annoyed on renewal as I found much lower quotes. On talking to them they lowered their quote to within £5 of that so I renewed just to save the hassle. Well fine but why not give a competitive quote to start with. One is led to believe it’s because enough people don’t bother trying.

THE ACID TEST IS WHEN YOU CLAIM - this was the last line of my 5 star review posted on Trustpilot, when I decided to switch my car policy to Budget Insurance in April 2019 after they quoted £80 less than my renewal quote for the same cover, a saving of 27%. However, I was involved in a non-fault accident in January 2020, when another driver ran into the back of my car. Reported the incident and Budget referred me to IMS Solutions their accident management company. I declined a courtesy car initially as my vehicle was still driveable. I was asked to provide photos to evidence the damage to my vehicle. It was declared a write off due to being beyond economical repair. The car then failed it's MOT due to damage caused to the boot floor not visible from the exterior. Although I had 'courtesy car ' cover this does not apply when your car is declared a write off. The accident management company were left to pursue the third party but after 90 days without success told me the matter would be passed to the underwriter. Contacted the underwriter who had to start the claim from square one. So 4 months on I have been paid out but from my own insurance with the excess deducted. So currently it is going against me as a fault claim. Clearly not happy and I will not rest. The underwriter is now issuing legal proceedings against the third party insurer. I have complained to Budget Insurance, who confirmed that I should have been made aware of the option to have the accident dealt with by the underwriter from the outset and I have received compensation for their failure to follow procedures. I maybe stating the obvious but Budget Insurance forms part of the BGL group of companies that includes Compare The Market and amongst many things I have learnt from this experience is that price is not always the best component on which to base a decision.

Took out two car policies in July 2018, one for my wife and one for me. Wife changed her car in February 2019 from a VW Polo 1.4 diesel to a VW Polo 1.4 petrol model. We both have over 20 years no claims bonus. Monthly premium went from £12.53 to £28.47! No negotiation just a take it or leave it. Will not be renewing with them this year.

Both my husband who has a landrover defender and myself who has an Isuzu utah pickup have recently insured with Budget on commercial policies. When checking my policies I realised that neither policies cover any of the insured to drive other vehicles - I questioned this and they said it is because people were using these policies to drive fleet vehicles instead of having fleet policies. I explained that it wasn't fair to assume that was the case with all commercial vehicle users and it makes it awkward for people who may just want a car to use for a day or week. I then asked about hiring a car for a week - I was told that I would have to get a quote from Budget (my insurer) for a year policy and then cancel it - so effectively a time on risk in old terms. I advised that this will be how they get their money as people will sometimes forget to cancel and they can then charge - very sneaky!

Wanted to make an amend to car policy to change a named driver from a 57 year old female teacher to a 59 year old female legal advise. Was quoted an increase in premium from £52.80 to £71.82 - an increase of £19.02, (approx 36%) to swap a named driver who does not live with me and would only occasionally drive the vehicle. The main driver and all other details staying the same, Could accept a nominal admin fee not inclined to be ripped off.

I needed to cancel policy as sold my car...i was charged £84.00 plus the said I had to let the direct debit of £29 come out the next day as planned. No decent explanation, extortionate fees, would have coat only £3 more to let policy run to the end. I never made a claim, but wouldn't recommend based on ridiculous costs to cancel, which are only revealed in the documentation once you have bought the policy!!!

I took out insurance with Budget on my car 2 days before Valentine's Day and paid the first payment as I pay monthly. The cover was due to start on 24th Feb. I had a massive surprise on Valentine's Day when my fiancé told me he'd bought me a new car! I had absolutely no idea he was going to do this. When I searched for quotes on my new car, I found that Diamond was the best deal and went with them. When I phoned Budget to cancel my policy that hadn't yet started I was told that on top of the £16 I had already paid, I needed to pay £22 to pay the cancellation fee. I said but the policy hasn't started yet?! She said that it was admin fees. After arguing over it and not getting anywhere, I reluctantly agreed to pay it. Absolutely disgusting!

I cannot open my insurance doc. as their site does not recognise my username or password. Emailed twice with no reply. I therefore cannot check if the document is correct. Noticed you cannot make a complaint by email. How rubbish is that?!

I have been trying to cancel my home insurance for over 1 week. I did get through to someone last week who just was not listening to me and I did not manage to cancel my policy. I have tried several time a day to get through again and I can not get an answer. I want to cancel as the monthly cost has doubled after the auto renewal. I just find this company too much hastle to deal with.

Cancelled my car insurance policy due to purchasing a new car and getting a year free insurance with it. Was told I owed £54, this came out of my account and then a few days later I received a threatening email and phone call saying I now owed £75!!! Horrible company that will not be getting any more money from me. I will not recommend them to anyone.

They told me I'd have to pay extra because of no proof of the stated amount of ncd even though I emailed copies of all my renewal details going back over ten years. All for an Extra £20 on my premium they won't get my businessever again thecall centre/ customer service staff were rude and dismissive. Never again.
