I had my iPhone stolen on 4th July 2022 while on a short break in Barcelona. After providing the following documents as requested by the RAC - Proof of Ownership, Proof of Usage, Proof of Cancellation, Proof of Blacklisting, Proof of who I am (a photo of myself holding my Passport), a Police Report, a Lost Phone Certificate, Proof of Travel (Boarding pass to and from Barcelona), a utility bill with my name and address, the IMEI Number of the stolen phone, the Serial Number of the stolen phone, proof that the iPhone had been erased via the Find my app, proof of its location again using the Find My App, I'm still waiting for the RAC to pay me my insurance money. It's now the 23rd August 2022. I will never use these cowboys again and I advise nobody else to. Shocking company.

I had trouble over the weekend getting ncb proff and my insurance was being cancelled at 9am today, I finally got proff and rang RAC and got talking to a beautiful girl called Sophie Loocked, I am not got got at sending emails (especially attachments) Sophie talked me through it taking up 45 minutes of her time and therefore got my insurance set up. Sophie was very patient, kind and helpful and I would like to say a special thankyou to her not only did she safe me money but stress to get insured. RAC need more people like Sophie on there team. Thanks again Sophie,Maura McL.

My elderly mother had received her car insurance renewal papers quoting an absolutely exorbitant amount. I spent an hour or so finding more realistically priced quotes. RAC came up trumps at a third of the price so we filled in the forms online but found difficulty making payment. I called RAC directly & spoke to a lovely lady called Trish who went through everything & took Mums payment with no problem. Trish was so patient & made sure Mum understood every step, so a huge thank you to her.

Absolutely APPALLING experience My auto renewal lapsed and I was not informed immediately meaning that I unknowingly drove to work uninsured, when I called to rectify this situation they told me that the only way to fix this was to start a new policy and they would price match it to the agreed renewal quote. Well, the new quote had doubled and so they could not price match apparently! There was no good reason as to why the quote had skyrocketed this way as nothing had changed and even they could not explain this. Subsequently I was stranded in the carpark with no insurance absolutely bewildered as to why I was now being penalised for their administrative error. Through no fault of my own the auto renewal did not go through even though I called 2 days before to confirm and had the emails to back this up, they could not rectify the situation! I was absolutely appalled at how they could try and charge me double after THEIR error! This caused me a lot of stress and I was extremely dissatisfied with the outcome. Only after escalating the situation was I offered temporary insurance for me to drive home, after that they told me to get quotes from a different provider! Rest assured that I will NEVER go with the RAC for anything again and I will absolutely advise my family and friends to do the same.

Today was charged just over £25 to change my address! Phoned up to give my new address, I moved house less than a mile, I was told it was an admin cost- pretty sure it did not cost Rac £25 to type my new address into their computer and send me an email to tell me they had done that! Will not be renewing with Rac!

Absolutely should not be doing car insurance. I have had nothing but endless calls, misinformation, incorrect information and to top it all, Motor Legal Protection by a dodgy claims company that don't seem to know what they are doing. My insurance claim was not my fault at all. I was asleep when a drunk driver went into my car and wrote it off. She was over the limit, arrested and charged. Over 18 days later I am still waiting to get the right help to make a claim on loss of earnings for work, as I was stranded 300 miles from home and they didn't have any courtesy cars available. So I had to take three days off. As a breakdown service, they have always been great - but as an insurance intermediary they are not. Their underwriters have been great - but they are experienced and know what they are doing. RAC should not be selling insurance. That's all there is to it. I have made an official complaint because I'm still having to call them for help and this was after someone told me I'd be able to claim back things with their legal protection. What a total and utter waste of money it is! It's the most embarrassing service I've ever experienced and I can see why their score is so low. I will never, ever use them for insurance again and will not be renewing when this sham of insurance finishes because I can honestly say they have been the worst!

No care for cuatomer and even if it is their fault still will not consider their customer. Black box insurance is the main culprit. If they miss the appointment to install their box even if their engineer fail to keep the appointment still will invalidate your insurance. STAY AWAY FROM THEM

(ZERO STARS) Rip-off - Avoid at all costs - car insurance premium increased 38% by auto-renewal My RAC black box car insurance premium were £420+ annually for the first two years, however I was charged £584 during this year's renewal (38% increase!) This was renewed automatically and charged to my credit card. They claimed to have sent a renewal notice by post, but unfortunately I have moved addresses and did not receive this. It is year 2022 and they are still expecting their customers to read all their physical mails, despite having my email address and mobile number registered to my account. If I were to cancel the insurance, I'd incur a £125 cancellation fee - effectively holding me ransom! Nonetheless, having called their customer service to enquire the basis of the premium increase (the car only ran less than 2000 miles the past year and was without any claim/incident) - they were not able to justify the reason for the increase in premiums (official reason: premium was quoted by the companies they use). I have used a price comparison website at this point and the same RAC policy is being offered to me at £440 (with a few competitors offering similar pricing). I have logged a formal complaint and have been told a formal response will take 4 weeks. In the meantime I will also log a similar complaint to Financial Ombudsman Service and other review forums to warn the public. Despite what is advertised, avoid this company at all costs, it’s just not worth it! Just look at the other reviews on this page..

In April a friend of mine borrowed my car and broke down. A truck came with only room for one passenger even though they were told there were 3. Promised a taxi would come for the two passengers. It never did. By this time it was late, cold and wet so they ordered and paid £150 for taxi. Despite contacting RAC on numerous occasions i am still waiting for the money! 4 months on! Next step is the CEO and then the Ombudsman. I will never recommend them. I will also add that the recovery truck driver was very rude and said when my friend was worried about leaving passengers stranded, if he didn't get in cab he would unload car and leave.!

Involved in a collision not my fault. On that morning my whole world tipped and RAC left me high and dry. Refer you to a claims management company, you are given no details. No contact from anyone for 3 weeks, then they email an offer £1000 less than it will cost me to buy the same car even from a private sale. The worst experience of my life. I insured with a name I had confidence in, after an accident not my fault I’ve have to take a loan to buy the same car because the shocking claim managers are so bad. Heard not a thing for 3 weeks until I finally managed to contact them. I appealed, they offered an extra £70. I asked when they’ll pay out and told it can be up to 3 months. So I’ll have to take a loan to pay to replace a vehicle taken from me by a third party and RAC do absolutely nothing. If you look on their website there is no contact for insurance claims only for breakdowns. Never will use or recommend. Worst experience of my life dealing with this company. Give them the widest berth you can and check the claims handling company too, they work with a few insurance companies with a trust pilot score of 1. I’d give RAC and their claim management company zero stars.

The worst recovery people ever. We called them at 8pm someone came at 11:30pm and told us our vehicle was fine and that we could drive off when clearly it was dangerous as there was a red warning light. After he left us 10 minutes later the car broke down again and we called them and they said someone will be with us in 2 hours. After a rude lady called saying no one can pick us up till 7am or we can have a taxi and leave our car on the side of the road at our own risk when our car is a business one. She then went on to say why were we travelling in the heat and that its our problem and she said if we shout at her she would end the call. After i was trying to ask why someone would let us drive when our car is not fit for purpose and that this is negligent as they owe a higher standard of care and she was saying no you listen to me and was not letting me speak and then she said shes not having this and that she is ending the call. We then had to sleep on the motorway till 8 am someone came to pick us up and dropped us off 30 miles and said someone will take us from there and are on their way. We called them and asked where the pickup truck is after an hour and they had not sorted it out. They also said they'll take us to hire a car and that they'd have to find a car. We then had to hire a private truck as these people were useless. Overall we were on the road for 15-16 hours as they could not sort anything out for us. Absolutely ridiculous never use these people as they would leave you to die. One of the passengers has medical conditions and they said call emergency services. 0 stars disgusting service.

Took out car insurance last July for my wife’s Fiesta and was happy to pay£163 fully comprehensive. Renewal came in looking for £266 I spoke to an advisor regarding the increase and was advised that this was what they were quoted by the companies they use Please be be very careful if you use the automatic renewal option given a rise of this size with no change in circumstances

Cancelled my policy today as the vehicle was sold. The insurance started Dec 21 and runs to Nov 22, the policy cost was £148.77, and I have 'used' £88.65 so the refund should be £60.12p . BUT no, there is a £55 cancellation charge, yes £55 !!!!!!. What a rip off, will not be using them again, they might win this one but loose out in the long term. Phil Allen
