My son took his car to Halfords Harrogate, whas charged an extortionate price for Brake disks and tyres fitting , They also said for it to pass its MOT it would need 2 rear New springs and 2 Shock absorbers as they were leaking oil shock absorbers as they were leaking oil , Took the car to another garage or showed me there was no fluid leaking at all from the shock absorbers and they were absolutely fine, the car passed the MOT with no advisories.

I have had an issue both in service and in a lack of customer care. I spent £1300 having a service, mot and parts replaced that I had previously been told had 'plenty of miles' in them, then had my car returned with a broken shock absorber that Halfords are neither taking ownership of nor are they dealing with the matter with care and due time.. I complained about the service at the start of April, I have emailed, tried calling, left voicemails... I'm still waiting to hear from Halfords autocentre.. it's now mid June. Won't ever use this service again. Avoid.

Booked my car in at the York Autocentre yesterday morning for 8.00am as the engine kept cutting out and with a jerking movement. At 8.40am the fault was diagnosed and after a telephone call from a very helpful gentleman called Eric advising me what the diagnostic test had revealed and the total cost to fix it, I confirmed the work to go ahead and by 11.00am parts were fitted and the car is now back on the road. Five star service and will definately use again. Thanks Halfords and thanks Eric.

I paid £49.99 for a warranty diagnostic from Halfords in Bournemouth which I was then advised by AUTOPROTECT was not sufficiently detailed enough to cover the warranty. Halfords however advised that AUTOPROTECT didn't question their diagnostic report. AUTOPROTECT and HALFORDS AUTOCENTRES are meant to be experienced business partners providing diagnostic and repairs covered under the warranty but this certainly does not seem to be the case and I am sceptical about this whole process.

Went to the Eastbourne Auto Centre on Lottbridge Drove, where they carried out a full safety check on my car. They were so helpful and friendly. But the most important thing was they were honest and advised me that the car was fine and there was nothing that needed doing to it straight away. Just an advisory on some tyres. They are always busy there and I think that's why people go as they feel they are not going to have to pay for unnecessary work on their car. Once again thank you for your honesty.

I don't know why the shop was open in Chatham, Kent. Customers are treated like children and told off for picking up a wrong item and putting it back. If they do not want customers touching any stock, then only do online sales only, click and collect or have staff pick up the stock only and serve one customer at a time. It was an unpleasant experience and some staff obviously do not want to be there serving customers and should just stay at home.

Had a car service with Halfords they Said they did the service but told me to get my said they did the service but told me to have my wiper checked they recommended me to a specialist . Instead I went to a family mechanic who replaced for wiper motor I asked him to check over the vehicle to make sure that they had done the service as when I went to pick up my car they were all outside the Helford centre having a barbecue and my car was in exactly the same place that I had left it with them . He checked the vehicle and showed me the oil filter and that it was completely black They had not done any service at all and have charge me Over £200

Rang Halfords this morning as needed a new battery. Very impressed told to take the car straight to them, lucky we had'nt switched the car off, took it straight in and 10 minutes later it was done. As this is in lockdown and they are busy very impressed.

Very dishonest!! They damaged my locking wheel nuts and locking wheel nut key,and they said it wasnt their fault cause they were too tight. I contacted customer service and they said nothing wrong happened. Unbelievable, they didnt even apologize. I had to go to different garage to change the wheel nut for extra cost. Well done Halfords in Hertford!!!

I booked a free repairs check took my car to Halfords in Ipswich, the person was rude tried charging me £50 for diagnostic because car had a slight misfire I told them it’s the spark plugs or coil pack, another bloke who works there butted in and said what do u know about diagnostics, so I played dumb and said on old cars this is more then likely the problem, and they both tried making me look stupid, they tried telling me that a 16 year old car wasn’t old, even tho I took my old car there which was a newer car and they told me the car was old, and wasn’t worth repairing, and in my new car which is a year older then my last car they said that spark plugs would last about 40000 miles so it wouldn’t be the spark plugs baring in mind they never even looked at car or knew the mileage done in the car , so I said I ain’t giving them£50 for them to tell me what I told them, then 2 of there workers where so rude because I wouldn’t let them rip me off, baring in mind it was a free repairs check I booked it in for, so I followed my gut and changed spark plugs and coil pack myself after diagnosed my car myself and now car run sweet as, they would have charged me nearly £300 by the end so I changed the plugs and coil for £53 so people take this advice and always get a second look at car before you get any work done because they will rip you off if you give them a chance to, £50 for diagnostic , you can buy the tool for £20 and look fault code up on internet, I’ll never use these guy ever again and my advice to everyone who plans on using them don’t I’d rather use any other garage then them, so my advice to Halfords you need to sort ur staff out with customer service and tell them to stop ripping people off

Garage In Enfield very dishonest people simply looking to make money by taking money for work they have not carried out at a time when they should be supporting essential workers to stay on the road they are using the opportunity to rip people off. Will never use this garage again.

I'm starting to doubt this garage now, after many years of use. Very recently bought a second hand car and have realised it has a small oil leak - nothing showing on dashboard and car drives perfectly (told a new oil sump was added upon purchase/service and that its more than likely the sealant that is causing the leak). Halfords quoted me £900 in repairs as they "think" another leak is coming from the back of the gearbox. Therefore they need to take out the gearbox and completely renew the clutch. Have spoken to the garage I bought the car from who have said it would cost no more than £300 IF they needed to do all those repairs. Halfords cost £60/hr for labour charges, which bumps up the price massively. I will try to use smaller local garages from now on as I just believe they charge a crazy amount along with trying to find any fault they can. Have been told they work on commission so obviously try and find more work if they have to, but the work is not always necessary. Also once had new windscreen wipers put on, under 12 month warrantee but I was never told this, and a year later at next MOT wipers failed and I had to pay for new ones again! I always felt they were a reputable company but have read some poor reviews about them. It's a wonder any car comes out of an MOT actually passing! Always have an extensive bill whenever I use them

My personal experience with halfords (south Tottenham branch) has been excruciating to say the least. I purchased a bicycle for over £500 and it fell apart in traffic 10 minutes after leaving the store. I returned the default cycle only to be accused by a member of staff (Garry) of trying to get one over on halfords. Moving forward the cycle i had purchased had liquid brakes and I found myself going back to halfords on average 3 times a week with problems pertaining to said breaks this continued for the better part of the year( I kid you not) many of the staff were dismissive to say the least store manager Andy wasn't very helpful even though he tried... half heartedly I believe he felt sorry for me at this point .the assistant manager Chad was extremely rude and obnoxious I had witnessed this while standing in line waiting to be served and low and behold Chad's attitude was no different when it came to myself. I continued to go back to halfords to find a solution to the breaks that had been malfunctioning from the very first day and to date the breaks are not in working condition .I had made contact with head office on numerous occasions and that also had little to no effect. On my last visit I let the assistant manager Chad know exactly how I felt with no filters and that ignorant man let slip that my line of bike had been recalled over faulty breaks but insisted that mine was the exception while grinning awkwardly at that point I walked away either that or go ballistic. Like a glutton for punishment i had returned and a man with a very bad attitude named Daniel attempted to assist this resulted in a full blow argument on the shop floor after I asked for a break down of what exactly I was paying for. At this point I was a regular at halfords and was paying to rectify a reoccurring problem and frankly had enough. The store manager intervened and I was asked to bring in my receipts for outgoings and I was more than happy to . At least this would give him a chance to see the injustice that had taken place. On producing receipts it was pointed out that a handful was blank? I was speechless but knew exactly who had last served me(Daniel! ) I requested that he came to the desk as I demanded an explanation at this point Andy had made me aware that Daniel had been suspended pending an investigation, and like that my money dissolved I have never been back but strongly advised that any persons thinking about purchasing a bicycle or seeking repairs look else where save yourself the drama if your looking for a friendly service with a smile this is not the place.
