I had a stereo fitted to my VW van at the Shrewsbury Merle Brace branch. The job was carried out by Liam who carried out a swift and professional fitting including running a new wire to power the stereo which now means it longer trickles down my battery. Great job Liam!

Very bad customer service, passed from person to person with nobody actually willing to help. I can see this being the next company to liquidate as they cannot compete with their operating model against the likes of amazon! Sorry guys but you need to sort it out!

I made an appointment for a 30 minute trial on the Pendleton E Bike. After spending 10 minutes at the counter organising this I was told to bring ID and a debit card the following week and the bike would be ready set up for me. When I arrived the store assistant said he had no details of my appointment and of course the bike was still upstairs tied up with the others. He proceeded to inform me that he had a lady coming in to test a Carrera who was definitely purchasing it. I felt at that instance I was dismissed of no interest to him. He did not speak to myself and my husband last week. We both want electric bikes and I really liked the Pendleton and was about to talk about purchasing it when the assistant who booked me in advised me to ride it first to see what I thought. The assistant who served me the week before apparently no longer works at Halfords and the one I dealt with today, I would not deal with again. As a customer he did nothing to encourage me to make another appointment or find out my requirements or indeed offer to set the bike up for me at that time. He was more interested in his 'definite purchase' customer. I will purchase a step through electric bike similar to the Pendleton, but I very much doubt it will be from Halfords

My wife wanted to buy a new hybrid bike, while I needed a repair to be carried out on my bike because the chain was slipping. I explained to the staff member that the slipping occurred only on the centre chain ring and this would need replacing. His attitude to me was most patronising and spoke as if to a fool, who knew nothing. I was told that it would be necessary to replace the whole drive system......chain rings, cogset and chain. (In fact I had just fitted a new chain.) My wife, who witnessed the whole episode, decided she did not want to buy a bike from a business that would treat a prospective customer with such contempt; she suggested we leave. I took my bicycle to a small independent bike shop. The worn chain ring was replaced at minimal cost and my wife placed an order for a new bike. Previously, I have had positive experiences at Halfords, but I fear I shall have no more; I shall not visit them again.

We went to Halfords Cortonwood today to buy our son a bike for his 6th birthday, he chose a bike he had his heart set on & the member of staff said they didn’t have it in stock in that store. He found us one in the Barnsley store & made a phone call stating that it was important that our son got this bike made up today & it was. We picked it up & the staff at Barnsley could not have been any better. A big thanks to Steve at Cortonwood for your help. Thankyou.

Went to Halfords in Chatham on new years eve. Never again I only wanted a bulb replaced After buying the bulbs I was told to go and PARK myself on seats near the doors and was told someone would be with me within 90 seconds no one came so the girl who served me got a tool kit, but after half an hour and two people trying I got sorry can't do it you will have to go to a garage .so I got the fitting money back . They left the area where the bulb goes in a mess and myself really uptight and very cross. The next day my son's came to fit it for me and within 10 minutes it was done , and they are not Mechanics.

I went in last week to get my bike bearings fixed and this is the second time I’ve come to the Coventry orchard retail store where Steve in the bike department not only delivered the best customer service but also went the extra mile to fix smaller issues with my bike and advise me well on the maintenance. I trust him, therefore I will be coming back for great service and the extra mile Steve goes to when seing his customers! I was very impressed and made my day!

They had in stock what I wanted but the shop seemed to be understaffed and finding a member of staff to answer a query was a bit frustrating.

Just bought 2 bikes from Halfords. Advice in store was excellent. I ordered online and had to go to different stores to get the bikes which was a bit annoying but the service in both stores was brilliant. Friendly, knowledgeable and honeststaff. Got further discounts off accessories which I hadn't expected. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Had a quote to fit new rear brake calipers, discs and pads as the old ones were seized and rusted. They quoted me £650 for budget saving calipers I found exactly same ones online for £130 £240 for brake discs and pads, I found the lot online for for under £80. And quoted me £130 for 90 mins work which was fine but considering that I'd be paying an extra £700 extra for parts then needed the real price for labour was well over £850 for 90mins. I asked them if I get the parts can they fit them for the £130 labour charge. Of course they said they can't as they have to get the parts there self I fitted it all myself in the end took me 90mins it was my first time doing it and now it's past mot. I did take it to a mechanic to do a brake flush and get some left over air out lines but this only cost around £40 Do not use these people my advice is to order the parts online and take it to a private mechanic to fit them.

Called me back 24 hours later than agreed thus went elsewhere, accidentally saving over £1,000 (50%) on the same manufacturers parts and labour - revealed to me how expensive Halfords actually is. Desperately tried to sell me brake pads for life - I was stuck because I needed new disks and they knew I'd be forced to buy pads (having been informed it was my only option to have brakes for life). Long term customer turned sour. Previously though Halfords was honest, now feel they are out to make a killing from a one-time sale at the expense of an enduring business relationship. I won't be using them again except in an emergency.
