I drove 100 miles to go to their New Jersey Store and there was an hour wait at the register so I went home and ordered the items on line. Six of the 7 items arrived in decent shape the seventh was badly damaged and they don't offer a line to chat with someone for a replacement. It would cost more to mail that throw the stupid item out. I would not recommend doing any business with this company. They use COVID as an excuse to not do their job correctly. Do business with American companies only, I will never use them again and recommend that you don't do so either.

I ordered pillows for delivery. To date they do not answer the phone and when I try to contact them online the option I get is TO CANCEL. I had trouble with my order 2 years ago and should have learned then. I think the concept and style of their furniture is so nice but DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE AND FRUSTRATION.

The short version is I first tried to place an order about 5 months ago and the computer program wasn't working properly, with availability varying from moment to moment, and so I called customer service directly. After 30+ minute I finally got through and spent the next hour with the rep who kept thinking they could get the items I requested, but every single attempt failed, and so in the end they recommended I try again in 2 weeks, which I kept on doing over the course of ~2 months. Finally, the items showed as available for delivery, and so I place the $1,700 order and scheduled the earliest delivery date that was 12 days out. I was informed that the delivery company would contact me and provide updates on the status of the delivery, which they did using an app that showed how the process was proceeding. I took off from work on the day of stated delivery, was given a 9am-9pm delivery window, and in the morning the app showed everything was set, but just not out for delivery, so I waited until 7pm and called the freight company and was informed that I needed to wait until 9pm. Well the delivery wasn’t made, so again I checked the app the next morning and it showed it was out for delivery, so I took another day off, but since I am here writing this highly negative review, you can surmise it never showed up. This was particularly upsetting as most of the items were for my 84 year old dad, who ended up sleeping on an air mattress for an evening as we dissembled his bed after we saw the order was out for delivery, and naturally he was quite disappointed it never showed up. What followed were hours of unproductive phone calls over days, where the freight company blamed IKEA for not releasing their “hard hold” on the merchandise, who then said I needed to contact IKEA and resolve this, and in return with IKEA claiming the freight company had lost the items in their own warehouse. It is important to realize that both parties expected me to be the intermediary on their behalf in repeated phone call over days, and that each time I had to again contact IKEA the process took hour for each call that did finally connect, with the majority of calls leading one through a voice menu maze, which would then flat out tell you they could not answer your call at this time. Also, they really need to change their on-hold messages, as repeatedly telling the customer how simple and efficient the online ordering process is, and prodding them to go online instead (which gives one no resolution options), is infuriating. After all was said and done I easily spent over 8 hours total between IKEA and their designated freight company, with each blaming the other, only to finally have IKEA admit that it was their fault, and they simply didn’t have the items after all. I said to one of their reps, “I am going to ask to a straightforward question, is there any system in place to inform the customer that their order isn’t actually going to be delivered?”, to which he flatly replied “No”, and I laughed saying, “Well at least that’s an honest answer”. A subsequent interaction was, far worse with a different rep attempting to assign blame on me stating that I should have known that their system sends out an email confirming the order has been successfully processed, to which I pointed out I was also told that the freight company would inform me of delivery status, which they did, resulting in 2 days of lost work. She then continued the cycle of blaming the freight company, without accepting any responsibility of IKEA who of course should be overseeing the entire process involved in making sure their products are actually in stock, and are being actually delivered when their designated freight provider informs the customer of the pending delivery. Also note that the one go to option the reps kept pushing was to just cancel the order, obviously to take this issue off of their plate. So 1.5 months out from the original scheduled delivery date, I have received nothing, not a single item from the order, I have received no notification of status or redelivery scheduling, and I am quite convinced that no one even knows my order exists in the computer system as I have been specifically informed that there is no system in place to inform customers on delivery delays. IKEA is undoubtedly the worst online shopping experience I have ever encountered, with representatives that are functionally incapable of resolution options other than simply canceling the order, who don’t take primary responsibility for their incompetence, and are at times aggressively argumentative.

It's rare that I've had a customer service experience as bad as Ikea's. I used to work in customer support and understand how customers should be treated. The automated menu is infuriating because it does not put you in queue if no one is available, but puts you back in the main menu. I talked to the operator to have her transfer me to the correct department, and she gruffly asked for the department I wished to reach, then barely allowed me to finish speaking before she put me on hold again. Ikea needs some serious help in the customer service department.

IKEA Customer Services needs to be named and shamed. Training? What training? I didn’t believe the rumours until I experienced it first-hand. Edmonton Store, Tottenham, London. I asked to return an item that was purchased last year but was over 365 days ago, a generous returns policy by any measurement. However, I’ve been in extended Coronavirus lockdown for over 4 months. Why can’t they see that and allow me to return the unopened item? I had planned to spend the money and much much more in-store? The short-sighted, jobs-worth Customer Services Manager could have seen reason and exercised leniency in these extraordinary times. The bad experience has soured my previous delight when shopping at IKEA forever. I won’t be giving IKEA any of my custom ever again.

Don't buy! Extremely bad service, most of my furniture came damaged, you won't book in a collection and give me a refund until after 30 days. My statutory rights are that I get a refund under the consumer rights act 2015, YOU ARE CAUSING UNNECESSARY STRESS!

If you are going to buy furniture from this mob pray it does not develop a fault. If you need to contact them the only branch in the country you can get hold of is Milton Keynes. If you try and contact your local branch (mine is Exeter) the automated voice on the phone says it is closed despite you ringing within the official opening hours. If you visit your local branch to try and sort out a problem you will join a huge queue of other suckers trying to sort out their problems. Please do not spend your hard earned cash with this company.

To blame your horrible service, nonexistent communication, and outrageous delays on covid is pathetic. I ordered three chairs online on July 19th, received an email that day for estimated delivery of august 14th. Heard NOTHING until I finally got a response via PM in response to posting a complaint on your Facebook account, the person telling me my furniture could be expected September 12th. Again, No communication until I asked. September 10th, again, after I asked, I am told via PM that my chairs are on backorder. Within *minutes* of that message, I am told my chairs are discontinued and I will be issued a refund. Amazing that I was able to order my chair in the first place if it was discontinued; is your inventory tracking software broken? There is zero concern for how inexcusably awful this business is.

OMG I had a customer service rep at ikea scream at me today and then when I asked his name, he screamed even more and then hung up. I have never had a customer service rep raise their voice at me before. Will never shop here again.

I ordered $200 of artificial flowers from them and they were absolutely horrible not at all as advertised I tried calling them and their line goes dead after a couple of rings and you can’t email them I ordered them April 27 2020 and returned them over two months ago, still no refund or contact from them and it’s completely useless to try and get in touch with them, they should be investigated and shut DOWN! You can’t treat customers like this and continually keep doing it with no repercussions!!! Who do you have to contact to report these people?

Missing hardware. Cannot phone your store as you won’t answer the phone. I am 90th in line to online chat about the issue. Have someone at my home installing the cabinet that I purchased, had delivered and put together. But clearly missing an important piece of hardware. Please do not blame your atrocious customer service on Covid either. Last time I ever purchase anything from Ikea.

if you have to have any purchases delivered run as far and fast away from this company as you can. Their customer service is awful. They put in my address for for Dennis Ma and they tried to deliver it Boston and I had to wait a full week for the delivery to arrive. All they said was I am sorry. They do not care that because of this I could not meet the dead line for the completion of a job putting the job off by a month. Run as far and fast away from this store. When they messed up the order at the store they could not fix it over the phone or on line, so I had to travel a extra hour to the store and spend another hour and a half in the store and then a hour back home to fix a order they messed up.

Maglarp light: I’ve Installed light fixtures before. I even did a refresher course on YouTube before attempting to install the Maglarp pendant lamp. Things started out smoothly, then everything went downhill. The pictoral in the instructions showing how to hook the lamp made no sense. Was I really supposed to be able to hook the lamp onto the plate? I couldn’t tell but was unsuccessful. I eventually used cable ties to secure fixture to plate. As for the very top part that goes to the finish ceiling, the one minuscule set screw provided to secure the base into the cord up to the ceiling is inadequate. I screwed it as much as possible but it wasn’t enough to keep the base from sliding down the cord. All I could do was use duct tape and it’s not perfect. Should I try a longer set screw? Adjusting the chain was tricky too. I know your instructions are minimal and I guess I need more. The S hook provided was inadequate and kept flying off. I used a sturdier one I luckily had. I think I got it up, but it is rather inelegant looking and I’m not sure the whole thing is really safe and secure. Sorry to be a whiner but I was hoping the installation would be easy like some reviewers said. I tried to leave a review on your website but could not figure out where the prompt was to do so. Had I known the hassle I was in for I would not have chosen this lamp. What would be helpful is if you provided video installation instructions for almost all your products on your website. Maybe that sounds crazy but it would really help slow learners like me.

I ordered a dresser that never arrived after waiting almost 2 months. I dont believe Ikea ever intended to deliver this dresser. They had the nerve to say it had been picked then nothing. Trying to talk to them was impossible. They would not respond. Tracking the order number told me they never heard of me. They sure heard of my money which they pocketed imediately. This company is a scam.
