“I sent this certain script to three different analysts throughout the screenwriting world just to see if they would 'get' the ending and the analyst from Industrial Scripts was the only one who understood exactly what I was aiming for. Not only was the analysis punctual but every point brought up was explained and made perfect sense. As writers we are too close to our material and the only way to make it better is to get a fresh set of eyes to peruse every word and the team at Industrial Scripts are well worth the money. So let's end with the screenwriters worst enemy - the cliche' - forget the rest and pay for the best. Now the fun starts. The rewrite. “* My Experience of Industrial Scripts * I'd written a short-n-sweet review, but then I thought: You know what, let's really go the extra mile, like my wonderful Industrial Scripts reader clearly did, when she filed my report. This is a genuine review by the way. OK, so I have a highly attuned bulls**t radar. And there are various script reading services out there that smell fishy to me. But this one sounded legit. I didn't find I.S. straight away (that's Industrial Scripts, not Islamic State, BTW). It was only after researching/stalking an agent at Curtis Brown that I discovered he liked hearing about stuff through Industrial Scripts. So rather than schmooze his PA and receive the inevitable brush off, I thought I'd check them out. Because I'm hardcore, I opted for their "Dry Run Report" (I'm a copywriter by background, used to my work being shredded to pieces if it's not up to scratch, so I wanted a no-nonsense appraisal, rather than encouragement and general hand-holding). My reader was intelligent, savvy and impartial. I didn't agree with everything in the report (I'd expected it to be rated "Excellent" across the board, added to the Talent Connector, and for me to be cracking open bottles of Bollinger with Tim Bevan by now) but perhaps that just goes to show -- this is the real deal. They'll treat you like a serious screenwriter and if your work's not up to scratch, that's because you're not a serious screenwriter... well not yet, anyway. There was a slight administrative hiccup: I'd ordered over-the-weekend turnaround (you know, like where you hand over your hot spec script to your über agent by end-of-play Friday and a bidding war between the major studios ensues Monday morning). Well they said it was too close to Christmas, so they refunded the fast turnaround fee and delivered it within the default 21-day period instead. But I won't dock them a star for that, not the fact the Verdict was Pass and not Recommend. I'm satisfied that my script was thoroughly scrutinised by someone who knows their s**t, and not some churn-n-burn intern, wet behind the ears and wired out on Haribo Fangtastics. For that, Industrial Scripts, I salute you!”

“I have to say I was a little dubious when purchasing a report from IS as it was my first time. I researched as much as i could about them and thought I would go for it. Having sent my payment I didn't get the emails they had said I would, the password they sent me didn't work for my account or for the submission of the script. I then found no help in the FAQ section so tried contacting them. Then things started to look up. An automatic email was returned to me with the correct submission details. I managed to reset my password so that I could access my account. I had also sent my script just before Christmas so was worried that the 21 days promised would not materialise, however, on the 21st day, just the other side of Christmas I received it. Then I was truly happy. The review was everything I wanted. It pointed out what I think I already new in most areas, but I had got to a point where I could not see a way forward. I now know what I need to progress it but with it being my first full screenplay it was more about the accomplishment for me. Thanks IS, I will definitely be back with more!”

These demonstrate really caring reading and concern about what I want to say/do with my story - i.e. not with what the reader wants the script to say and do. “I received feedback from Industrial Scripts three weeks ago. On the plus side, it was evident that the reader had read the whole script which is at least something. Also, I received 8 pages of notes as opposed to 4. On the negative side, the review felt more like someone's opinion than true feedback and the reader steered me toward copying something that had been done before which felt wrong. I will use one or two comments, but for the hefty price tag, I must admit that I have received better (free!) notes from fellow writers so I would not recommend the service (or perhaps the reader?).”
