“For Hannah I just thought of one other thing. You should put in the notes for the actual race to think of your neighbours by not standing up and wearing normal clothes. The woman next to me stood up taking photos and had a tshirt with droopy sleeves so we couldnt see much at all of the horses coming around the corner especially since it all happened so fast. Thanks Christina”

“A brilliant company to deal with - I had a slight issue and called them to discuss it and they resolved it immediately and fully. I did a trip to Rome with private tours with my mum and godson and it ran very smoothly. I've done the Northern Lights trip with them previously and am booked to go again. I can't recommend this company highly enough.”

“We'd used Weekend a la Carte before for a trip to Abisko to see the Aurora Borealis and yet again, we were so impressed with the arrangements made on our behalf. We were greeted at the airport in Venice and taken by car to all the boats. Arriving to our hotel In a private water taxi was the best way possible to start off our four days - we felt like Hollywood stars! The Hotel Metropole was excellent - nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were really knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent choices for breakfast, we drank Vivaldi Martinis in the bar where Vivaldi wrote The Four Seasons (Bruno the Bar Manager's suggestion - divine) and the Michelin starred restaurant for my birthday meal, The Met, was out of this world. Excellent location too, just a couple of bridges down from The Bridge of Sighs. Venice itself exceeded any expectation we had prior to our visit and around every corner was another beautiful scene. It's impossible to take a bad photo in Venice! Weekend a la Carte booked everything on our behalf and they clearly knew Venice well, giving hints and tips to make our weekend even better. We had private water taxi transfers, visited Murano (twice!), Burano and Torcello, had a private gondola trip at sunset, had the benefit of Venice Museum St Mark's Pass Card (The Doge's Palace is breathtaking), welcome and birthday prosecco, dinner at The Met and we walked miles! We will definitely be going back to our now favourite city and I'm certain will use Weekend a la Carte again, a first class travel company who clearly know their destinations well. We can't thank you enough for another truly memorable break ... where to next I'm thinking!! Kathryn and Nigel Bardouleau”

“Thank you so much! We had a fantastic holiday and your organisation was brilliant! We were made to feel special from the time we boarded the Belmond Pullman in Victoria station until our arrival at Venice airport on return. Transfers within Venice were excellent. The hotel was amazing - we have never met such welcoming hotel staff (at all levels) and they couldn't do enough for us. The hotel itself was beautiful. The tasting menu we had on our second night there was very special. Special thanks must go to our private tour guide, Arianna - she was extremely knowledgeable and we couldn't believe that four hours of walking could go so quickly! Arianna rearranged our gondola ride for us, as the evening we were to go was forecast to be wet and she purchased advance tickets for the Doges Palace for us to save us time the next day.”

“1. Provision of transfers/taxis - 5* 2. Academy of St Cecilia Concert - 5* 3. Hotel Capo D'Africa - 4* - why not 5 ? - reception staff let down by one individual and the breakfasts were not that comprehensive: a little fruit, but poor variety and no fruit salad. Dinner cost seemed expensive for what we had. 4. Guided tours of Vatican and Colosseum/Forum areas - Ingrid was excellent, 5*”

“Service from your office was friendly and efficient. All paperwork was accurate and clear. All the arrangements worked out beautifully and the guide and drivers in Florence were punctual and professional. The hotel arrangements were as promised and the service there was first class. Thank you.”

“We had an excellent trip to Venice and attended the Tiepolo ball. Everyone involved made our trip extra special and nothing was too much to make our stay memorable. The hotel was excellent and all the staff very helpful and made everything run like clockwork, even making changes to the tasting menu to address allergies. We both thoroughly enjoyed the ball, costumes were brilliant and we were made to feel extra special. Everyone we have shown the pictures to were very envious. Overall an excellent holiday and one we will never forget. A big thank you to everyone.”

“We had a wonderful weekend and thought the overall organisation was excellent. So much so that we would be interested in returning another year. The various elements of the package came together perfectly and the food and accommodation were excellent. I will just mention two very small points. Firstly, the costume fitting was I felt rather rushed. I appreciate it is a very busy period for them, but the shop was very small and they struggled to finish with the clients before us on time in order to let us in and then were in the same position with ourselves. Secondly, on arrival we were met at the airport and transported to the water taxi in a mini-bus. On our return however, the instructions we had made no mention of what would happen once we had alighted from the water taxi. Our friend phoned you to check and whilst it was no problem for us to walk to the terminal, I am not sure if that would be the case for all your clients. More importantly though, knowing in advance that we had to make our own way would have been helpful and saved us standing around in the cold and rain waiting to see if someone turned up for us. I would add though, that these things in no way detracted from what was overall an excellent few days. Thank you to everyone involved. Val Jones”

Hi Val, Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased you had a wonderful time at Carnival and are considering returning. In regards to your costume appointment, this should not have felt rushed so I will forward this to the atelier so they can work on this in the future. For the return transfer, I will make it clearer in future in regards to what is/is not involved. It was the first year of trialing the meet & greet service, so as always improvements need to be made. “The transfer to and from the hotel was efficient but the driver drove at 160km per hour in a 130 km/hr restricted area many times. The guide to the Cathedral and the Last Supper was great, very informative and helpful. The hotel was clean and the room very good. Staff were very variable in their attitude to customers some were great and could not do enough whilst others were rude. There is a need for greater consistency in the training of such staff. The opera was an highlight of the week-end.”

“The collection service and the drivers were brilliant. Thank you! The Hotel Academia was marvellous. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The rooms were amazing; comfortable, cool and spacious. The cold, evening Buffet and breakfast buffets were attractively arranged and delicious and good value for money. The boat trip was lovely and prompt and the tour of the Isola del Garda was a real highlight. What a lovely family! Their Mother should be so proud of her daughters. Our seats at the opera were terrific and the performance was spectacular; though spoiled slightly by the rude, Italian woman seating in front of us who insisted on filming with her ipad during the key points in the opera. I would not have included Sirmionie on the agenda. It was far too touristy and after Isola, very disappointing! . I think there may be nicer towns or villages around the Lake that we would have much preferred visiting.”

“We had a wonderful holiday in beautiful Venice.Our hotel the Metropole was ideally situated about 5 mins walk from St Marks square and very near to the vaporettos so that exploring was very easy.Our guide to the Basilica and St Marks square was charming,very knowledgable and very good fun.She gave us a very good overview of the history and politics of both Venice and Italy and we felt able to launch forth on our own after her advice. La Fenice was wonderful ,a stunning performance of Tosca which we thoroughly enjoyed with excellent seats. The Metropole staff were charming and the food excellent.Altogether great.”

“I would like to thank all those involved in setting up our short break to Verona. Changes to our itinerary were easily accommodated and requests and queries dealt with in a prompt and friendly manner. Our hotel was excellent, quiet, very comfortable and centrally located in the old town. We had wonderful seats for the opera and found the Verona card a real treat for gaining, usually free, access to a range of locations. I would certainly book a break with Weekend a la Carte again and have already recommended this organisation to friends. Thank you!”

“A really wonderful break. The opera was spectacular and our seats excellent. Our whole trip went smoothly, cars were there to meet and collect us on time. Both hotels were fine, although The Salo du Parc staff were unenthusiastic, maybe end of season tiredness? We would certainly recommend Italian Short Breaks and shall use them again.”

“Excellent customers service, nothing was too much trouble to sort out and always available promptly to answer any questions. The holiday was fantastic - everything worked like clockwork the documentation we were given was all we needed. The hotel Acadamia was in a fantastic locaiton and the staff were friednly and helpful. Breakfast delicious My only negative comment would be the cold buffet on Opera night - I think we would have in hindsight preferred to go out - but understand the hotel restaurant was being refurbished. Thank you so much to team at Italian short breaks :)”

“Very satisfied with whole package including timely airport transfers to the hotel itself and of course the fantastic experience of the two spectacular operas. Hotel Firenze was very helpful when we discovered there wasnt disabled shower access in our room . Instead they provided us with a large family suite with suitable shower access. The notes on the restaurants in Verona and Sirmeone proved to be every bit as good as described. I would particularly recommend Restaurant Arche in Verona with its old fashioned charm including attention from its 85 year old founder-the food was splendid. The visit to Lake Garda including the visit to the Isola del Garda was enjoyable. Our guide on the island soon realized that my wife was not able to keep pace with the tour of the gardens ascending up to the terrace of the mansion . She arranged for her to be collected by electric car and she was able to see the gardens and was delivered up to the terrace to await the rest of the tourists . After a visit to the private family quarters and some refreshment on the terrace she was again transported by electric car back down to the pier for embarkation. Altogether a very memorable holiday with full marks for consideration of our needs.”

“Everything worked very well. The Maggiore hotel was much better than the one we stayed in at Garda last year. The car service was first class. The Milan hotel had an excellent location. The opera seats were great. It's hard to suggest any improvements but at this price point in the market I'd expect 5 star service.”

“A wonderful weekend break: the car collected us from the airport and conveyed us smoothly to our hotel, close to the Arena. A 40th Wedding Anniversary bottle of Prosecco welcomed us to our room courtesy of Weekend a la Carte and we attended sensational productions of Nabucco and Aida. Plenty of time to see many of the sites of the old city and then be chaffeur driven back to the airport for our return flight. Booking was simple and the organisation faultless - Magnificent.”

“Hotel in Verona was wonderful Opera was stunning The Hotel in Gardone was in a great location, our room had great views but it was a bit tired & the atmosphere was a bit dead. We had one mix up with the time of our transfer, other than that the arrangements worked perfectly”
