“This is the worst company to do business with-run, don’t walk away from them. I ordered and returned a 685.00 leather coast 2 months ago and they have not credited me, have not returned calls, emails and when I speak with “customer service” they are useless and will not put me in touch with anyone who can solve this situation. They have stolen my money. I remember them from years ago and the products were great and the service was superb. From great heights, the fall is hard. Never will I ever . . . Order from J Peterman again.”
“canceled my order without telling me and without giving me my money back. i had to contact them and they never gave me my money back or answered follow up emails. i had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back.”
“UPDATE: Since my warning review, J Perman Co recently refunded the funds taken (thief) before shipping, with a failure to ship any replacement.
Below is their matter-of-fact email using the email address they had blocked as the recipient, of my rightful inquiries.
J Peterman is 2-face!
Management appears to not govern customer care, a read of reviews reveals, if the item is immediately available all serve the purchaser well; if there are problems, integrity goes missing and communications become harmful! Online customers are untenably vulnerable.
Online Thief is in need of the public taking a more effective stand.
Filing a small claims action is a hugely ineffective and costly waste of time! My turnaround by my offender is not the norm. J P did not apologize or compensate for my disappointment and fight for rights time!
The market platforms like PCH still promote this company's power to harm an innocent intent to give their business choice to J Peterman!

JP Refund Notification:
Hello Lynn,
This is a confirmation that we have now processed your refund.
ORDER NO. W61556
March 06, 2022”
“January 19, 2022, Order Here is what my last effort email to J Peterman states:
"I put a substitute item in your CART either ship it or get your customer properly refunded!
As a clothing retailer, you are a great artist with a unique language that paints a word picture that drapes your outfits in a quite wonderful delight to wear with regard for ones' body.
So? Why is it that J Peterman owns such a low public rating by its customers? "
J Peterman apologized for a failure to tell me that what I ordered was out of stock (appears had been when pulled my cash), also told me would refund, then blocked my email(s) so that I had to use my business center email.
PLUS deliberately have not returned my cash!

“After ordering the long patch pocket coat in dark teal (Women's L) and THEN reading the reviews, I felt rather ill. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The coat arrived in about one day (super fast) and was really nicely wrapped (in a box, tissue paper, sturdy hanger, etc.). It is gorgeous! I'm tall so I was super happy that it was long and generously cut. Love it.”
“I received a discount code and found no place on the order page to apply it. I texted them and was advised they were applying the code. I received the product and the promised 20% discount was never credited. I phoned customer service and they were cold, and generally unpleasant. The operator stated there was nothing he could do once the order was placed. I explained the logic: that I could return the product and get the credit for a return and the reorder which would be much more expensive. There was no satisfactory response. I wanted to give the new J Peterman Company a chance and am extremely disappointed. I’m not bothering with a return as I have no faith in them to follow through. So long, J Peterman you’re not the company that once prided itself on customer comes first. What a dismal shame.”
“$90.00 for flimsy long sleeve t-shirt??? They charged me $13.95 to ship it and are charging me $8.95 to return it?! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SHYSTERS!”
“If I could give a minus rating I would! WORST customer service of any company I have ever dealt with! Do NOT order anything from them! Shipping is 17.95 for priority 4-7 days. After three weeks, three phone calls of almost an hour and a half, still no package. “Stuck in warehouse “!!!??? My one order was out of stock and they never told me?
They said they will refund my money within a MONTH, even though they can bill you within seconds of placing the order!
In the meantime, they have over $300 of my money.
Customer service both telephone and e-mail are abysmal.
Repeat, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!”
“Oh my god...
Long story short, and it was a long story, I was on the phone for about 3 hours. Please do yourself a favor and don't buy anything here. They basically stole my store credit saying that it expired. I have no proof of it because you can't see your store credit as they can only see it on their end :). This is a scam company.”
“Wow! I am so thrilled with this jacket. Gorgeous! Perfect! Exactly as pictured and described in the catalog. It's the cute little jacket with the faux fur black shearling body and faux fur sable collar and cuffs. The fit is perfect. Very true to size. I have bought clothes from J. Peterman previously and have always been pleased with the quality and beauty of each item, but not excited like I am with this little coat.
It arrived the next day for only $19.95. And, inside the box the coat was on a hanger in a very nice garment bag. Thank you! Thank you!”
“I bought an expensive, 180 dollar jersey, wore it one day and had loose threads hanging off sleeves and back. I sent email, which took the company about two weeks to respond to. They sent a return label and replaced the item. I expressed my concern that the fabric was not woven densely enough, I received no feedback whatsoever. The replaced item tends to have similar problem. The slightest friction seems to cause threads to pucker. I am very disappointed. For the price they charged I expect better quality.”
“Ordered two J. Peterman Shirts, on sale. Received confirmation of order.
Three weeks later, called to inquire about order. Representative said they were in stock, should've shipped, said he'd get the order sent the next day.
A week later. No notice of shipping received. Made second phone call. Was told the order would go out "tomorrow" and phone went dead. Sent email requesting change from priority mail to regular delivery.
One week later. Having had no response to email, called again. was told shirts were on back order with no known delivery date. In fact, there were none of these shirts in any color or any size in stock, even though they were still being advertised. Rep offered to cancel order. I requested an email stating the order was cancelled and showing my VISA had been credited with the amount, Was assured this would be done within several business days. Wrote a second email to customer service explaining the problem.
Two weeks later. No email responses. No notice of crediting VISA. No nothing.
I've ordered these shirts and other things from J Peterman for years without a problem. After this episode, however, I will not be ordering anything else.”
“I was hesitant to order brown Faux Croc Italian leather handbag due to excessive "shipping" cost but I did. The gold is a tacky orange color. It only opens 1-1/2 inches, difficult to get my hand in (and I have very small hands). Trying to extricate anything out of purse is difficult, time-consuming, and scratches up my skin. Waste of money.”
“Shipping costs are RIDICULOUS!!!! And everythings expensive. Period. I ordered pants for the weekend. Ordered on the 4th. Shipping cost me $18.00 btw. WAY too much. Rippoff. I called on 12th, friday, and they are STILL SITTING IN WAREHOUSE!!!!! A WEEK LATER!!!!!!! Yeah. Oh and “ once in warehouse, we cant cancel”. Supervisors, who can cancel, ALL gone for the day on friday? R u CRAZY????? DONE with this place. They SIMPLY DONT CARE! And r ripping us off in shipping.”
“Same story as others bad experiences cited. I ordered items that never came. When I called to ask for a refund they said the items were no longer in stock, though I could clearly see they were still selling them on their website. I was in a chat for a while until they just stopped responding, so I tried calling. They picked up the phone and held it up in the air so i could hear the other operators, but no one actually answered the phone, then they just picked up the phone and hung up. So I disputed the charge through my bank. As I was looking for the charges to initiate the fraud claims, I came upon another charge they had made to my account, which had no order number attached to it! I remember making the order, but it didn't go through (I thought) so I tried again. Anyway, long story short, I was finally refunded for both charges, and was informed by the chat person, that I would no longer be able to order from them since I had requested a chargeback!!! Heheh as if I would want to do business with them ever again. These people should be investigated by the Attorney General's office in each state they do business, which is presumably all 50 states. If you are a victim of this, contact your state's Attorney General.”
“Absolutely horrendous customer service. It's from the dark ages, and I have never seen a company with such a bad rating. The reviews are almost universally one star and you can't easily find the reviews at the site. I had to Google to find them.
My wife bought me a duster for around $405.00 in June. It was for my birthday, which was at the end of September. She bought it early to assure it was here in time for my birthday. It sat in the box till then. I tried it on and the fit was no good, so she called to return the item. Peterman's return policy is 60 days and they absolutely refused to either refund the cost of the purchase or even grant a store credit. Granted, they disclose their 60-day return deadline, but, these days, most companies are trying to keep their customers happy.
The item is in its original box, has been tried on once, is in mint condition, but is worthless to me. Shame on you J. Peterman. From the reviews, it is clear we are not alone in our unhappiness. Maybe I should hang the duster in the front yard and write "J. Peterman sucks, don't do business with them." Maybe I will.”
“Have purchased at least six dresses from J Peterman over the past few months. They're a little expensive, but the quality is very good. Hems and stitching are almost invisible, the patterns are matched so well. Sizing seems a little inconsistent, though. Also, the company charges for its outbound shipping plus a fee on returns even if the garment doesn't fit. I very much like the style and quality, but knocked off two stars for the combined effect of inconsistent sizing and a return fee. Hope to continue purchasing from J Peterman in the future.”
“This company has the worst Customer Service. I ordered a $200 jacket for a special trip. The delivery information stated that I should receive within a week Priority Mail. It did not arrive before my trip but when I returned a month later, I was billed on my credit card but still had not received the merchandise. I had to call J Peterman Customer Service who explained that the jacket was no longer available and they would process a refund. If the jacket was no longer available so why was I charged in the first place? Most companies charge when the item is shipped. The fact that I HAD TO CONTACT THEM to inquire about the status of my order, only to discover it was out of stock, is disturbing (no email, no call/text from them). And the fact that only when I contacted them, did they process a refund - simply an absurd way to conduct business. This is a terrible company and I will never order from them again. No matter how appealing the clothes are - BEWARE!”
“It is the same old story. They don't tell people that they don't have items. They take my money for the item they don't have and may never have and my money for a tax I may not owe and my money for shipping that may never occur. Their telephone person in customer disservice said that this is just how it is. Your person in chat said that this is just how it is and signed off immediately. They are taking money on false pretenses and should pay interest.”
