“Got charged over £600 for minor scratches of a van we returned after 3 years. Scratches were from car wash about 5mm and you could see them. Ridiculous!”

on twoo occassions it has taken them 2 then 3 days to sort a simple puncture. Tyres were available it is just their simple inefficiencies that ended up with me being flatbed trucked home after reporting a puncture at 12.47, telling them the side wall was damaged- by a foreign object, they sent the AA 4 hours later who said "not able to repair and at that time we had missed the opportunity to get a tyre". Flat bed.. On Day 2 they did not follow up, after 3 phone calls and 90 minutes of waiting they then told me up to 48 hours to get a tyre. In all due to a simple puncture i have lost 5 days work and left vulnerable people without heating. Simply not good enough. The hire car offer was to be charged to me at £100 per day! Laughable”
“I leased a car through leaseplan for 3 years, Prior to sending the car back i sent the car to a local workshop and they went over the whole car and made sure there was no marks, scratches or anything wrong with the body work of the car. However, i received over £1000 invoice for wear and tear. I am really not happy with Leaseplan trying to rip off people and taking this to the ombudsman.
Furthermore the car went back with 10,000 miles under the mileage that i had been paying for.”
“I would never recommend this company and if I could get out of my contract with them right now, I would.
They NEVER answer the phone! I have been calling for 12 weeks to book a service for my vehicle and they just do not answer the phone. I have emailed and on one occasion someone called Chris Gill (customer service) emailed me back and just told me to phone as I had already been doing. Another time someone picked up, told me I was in a overflow queue and someone would call me back, but of course they didn’t. And to make matters worse, I filed a complaint and the response that came back was, ‘this issue has been resolved and the case has been closed’. And nothing has been resolved at all.
I will not contact them ever again and will aim to purchase the vehicle at the end of the term so I never have to have any need for contact. Appallingly dreadful company”
“I have been leasing cars for 20 years and never had any complaints with previous lease companies.
This is the first, and last time I will use LeasePlan.
Please don't take maintenance and tyre cover from them. I have had to use tyre replacement twice in just over 12 months, both times they have ordered the wrong tyre size causing delays, 1st time my car was off the road for a week and second time it will be 4 days and all to replace 1 tyre.
Second time it happened I wanted to speak to complaints department, was on hold for 40 minutes and then they cut me off, I think a tactic used by some as many don't call back.
I made a point to call again and get complaints department number and have made an official complaint now.
They will investigate but doesn't help me when my car is off the road, over 10 days I haven't been able to use the car over 2 tyre changes, yet I still have to pay the lease charge in full and time and money spent on taking time off work.
So many car lease companies available, my advice, use someone else.”

I’ve spoken with various departments, had calls cut off, emails ignored and false promises in abundance. Simply read reviews and tweets. My experience is not unique. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! “I would not recommend this company. Read carefully their contract forms! After 5 years of paying them, I was told I CAN'T keep my van which is made by order with many extras added. By contract, I have to sell the van and pay 3% of this amount plus the huge balloon left. It is all about 3 %. I can't believe this company still operates in the UK -I think they will go down very soon because no one will be happy with such deals.”
