Good products but very difficult to cancel a subscription.

Bar soap really lathers - more than regular soap and feels silky. Supwe awesome. Deoderant is one of the better ones i've tried where you aren't wet and sticky from it as soon as you work out. You will have to reapply in a day if you work out. It's not a scam. If people actually read just choose the 'no subscription'! I just purchased it as a one off each time.

Absolutely loved my experience with Pela as a whole company! I can’t stop raving about my experience to others as I have never experienced customer service like this before in my life! I ordered a phone case and some other products from Pela and then a kit from Habitat (+ 2 extra kits because I got excited)! They keep in contact through emails, videos and immediately you realize the passion these employees have. They are vocal with their goal of preventing plastic from ever being made and it feels good to know you contributed! Highly recommend!

I've been happy with the deodorant and shampoo bar. You can choose between subscription purchase or one time purchase. I've placed two orders to date without any issues. Not a scam like other reviews have suggested. Andrew - Toronto, Canada

The shampoo bar works fine, no issue with it. But I could not even get the conditioner bar to condition my hair. The deodorant is great in that it's natural and plastic-free, but it doesn't smell nice (or bad - just very neutral), and it's EXTREMELY hard to push up. The chapstick is lovely and effective in terms of use, but it's also very difficult to push up. Overall, I would not recommend.

I bought a 3 pack of the deodorant in two different scents. It make my armpits red and swollen. A problem I've never had before. Will not buy again.

Not sure why everyone is saying it is a scam! It is clear it is a subscription! I bought the $9 sampler to test the products and cancelled the subscriptions as I like to buy things whenever I need it! Haven't tried the products yet! Hope is up to my expectations!

SCAM!!!! PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. I have tried cancelling a subscription I didn’t even know I had but couldn’t even log into my own account. I could cancel the first shipment but didn’t get in time for the second one and now I have to return it and PAY THE RETURN SHIPPING. SO UNFAIR AND FRUSTRATING AND THE PRODUCTS ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL. spend your money somewhere else!!!!!!

First: Read the Google reviews before you purchase. I give this 2 stars because the producrs are mostly good (conditioner bar wasn't good for my hair). But I would give them 0 stars for company policies. I originally bought their trial pack as I love shampoo bars and was interested in trying them. Nice products, but I don't like subscriptions and would rather purchase as needed. Went onto the website to unsubscribe and couldn't figure it out. Asked for help vis chat and was given mediocre help, but thought I had it figured out. A couple of months later, I get notified of a new shipment. So I ho back on the site and see 3 products that I did not want stilling my subscription. I again asked for help to find out that you have to unsubscribe from every single item they sell. It is ridiculous that there is not an unsubscribe from all option. Even though I had received help trying to unsubscribe before, they said it was too late to cancel the order and I could return it, but I would need to pay return shipping.i feellike I've been scammed. I don't care how nice your products are, your website and policies need to change. I will gladly take my business elsewhere and warn others about you.

I purchased a Pela phone case, and saw this offer, and decided to try it out. Unlike these other reviews, I think it was very clearly stated that it was $9 for the first month, and to go into your profile to delay or cancel the subscription as needed, I did not find it misleading. So far I've tried the lip balm, shampoo bar, conditioner bar, and body wash bar, and I really enjoy the product! I have pretty curly hair so not every shampoo/conditioner works well, but I really did like this product. The lip balm is so nice too and smells super good. The only issue is that it's hard to push the lip balm and deodorant up from their packaging. I will definitely order this again but may think twice before reordering the deodorant just because of the packaging.

I bought the Pela phone case and got the $9 trial. I read the fine print and delayed my subscription to be sure I like the product before continuing. The phone case is great so far (2 months in). I’ve dropped my phone on cement and tile flooring and the case hasn’t chipped at all. The products: this is the first natural deodorant that actually does what it says. I’ve tried many and I either sweat through the deodorant or smell through the antiperspirant where I feel self conscious. Also the other products have either blocked my pores or caused ingrown hairs leaving me with uncomfortable red marks. Habitats is great, no painful spots. I will say the texture is a little scratchy and it off putting but maybe it helps in removing any dead skin buildup (sounds gross but it seems effective). The downside about the deodorant packaging is you have to have long fingers to push the deodorant up through the skinny tube. I couldn’t manage it halfway through its use and have had to use a sharpie to help me out. The base of the packaging has pushed through and while the deodorant is very solid and not coming through the bottom, it’s pretty frustrating. If they can reconfigure the packaging I would have nothing to complain about. I love the lather in their soap and shampoo, minimal scrubbing to get a really rich lather. I’m not yet sold on the conditioner because it takes a little more elbow grease however my hair feels very clean and free of any hair product residue. I’m giving 5 stars with an asterisk for the deodorant packaging.

I am honestly so happy with my habitat/Pela Products! I got the $9 promotion and then cancelled the account right after ordering and still received my items within 2 weeks! I don’t understand why everyone is hating on this company. They stated pretty clearly that your first order would be $9, and you would be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription that you could delay or cancel at any time! The products are fantastic and the deal was amazing. If you think this company is a scam then that’s just on you for not reading though the details of the order.

I received my first package ($9 promotion). Products look just as pictured. The lip balm is super cute and feels great on my lips. I understood the deal perfectly. You sign up and get a promotion for first package, following packages will be actual price. I dont think they tried to scam you at all. It was very clearly stated. I also received email reminding me to create account to manage subscription. I have already successfully canceled the subscription since I want to wait and try these products out before signing up for more. If you complained they scammed you into something, you clearly didn’t read any descriptions or instructions. I would say go ahead and give them a try. I love that they are completely waste free. Also i placed order 12/23, received 1/4. Which is pretty impressive considering they shipped from Canada to LA over the holidays.

like so many other reviewers mentioned, this company is a scam. They try to lock you into recurring orders without being clear about it up front.

So like many others, I purchased the $9 trial and after getting a confirmed shipping email, noticed I had been subscribed. I went to the original promotion and sure enough the small print: "pay only $9 for you first order...refills automatically at full price...don' t want to subscribe? make a one time purchase (at$62). So yeah, they tell you its a subscription but the promotion is VERY MISLEADING. I have cancelled my subscription (after the package has shipped so they can't cancel it) but I hate that they have my credit card information and I can't find how to delete it...or my whole account for that matter.

Like others have mentioned, you sign up for the 9 dollar pre-subscription package, that doesn’t even create an actual account on the site, so you can go manually manage a subscription, that was apparently more convenient for their software developers to do for their costumers.. so initially you’re under the impression that canceling or managing is an easy click, when in fact, you’re stuck with a subscription that you have to somehow figure out how to create a login for to go individually click “edit”, and they make you do it for each product in the package, and... it doesn’t even allow you to cancel the subscription from the site.. so when you email them a message, they don’t have the employee support to be able to email you back (conveniently) but do have an email (conveniently), to send a reminder in place of your message, notifying about your next shipment.. how kind of them.

I ordered their $9 sample pack, which took 2 weeks to arrive (understandable). I didn't even activate an account, and there's literally no language whatsoever in their emails or their website to suggest purchasing the sample pack without even creating an active account entitles them to take your card information and sign you up for a pricey subscription. I haven't even gotten to try the products yet and I had to set up an account I didn't want, cancel subscriptions I NEVER consented to (since someone asked, you go to your account and click "manage subscriptions" and you have to cancel each of them individually), and email the company basically begging them not to ship what THEY signed me up for and to refund me. They did so and they were pretty nice about it, but the whole thing reeks of a scam. How is it OK to sign up someone who doesn't even have an "Active" account (their terminology) for a subscription, using card information they provided you on a one-time basis? I'll be warning people off this company for sure, which is a shame, because their mission seems very admirable. I really wanted to like them but now I'm just creeped out.

A) Package didn't ship for a full week after ordering (this was before the Christmas boom). B) They got the order wrong, I was missing one of the products that I'd ordered. C) The product legitimately does not smell good. I got a coconut-vanilla deoderant stick and it smells like play-doh. The push function on the stick is also... just... bad... I was told to microwave it to make it slide easier but so far nothing has really made it easier to push. In order to push I finally ended up breaking the bottom. The pluses: good, swift customer service, it is legitimately waste-free, it hasn't stained my clothes like my last natural-waste-free deodorant did. Also, the lavender one might smell good? Who knows. At the price point, you're probably better off with just about anything else. I'm probably going to try Native Co. since this deodorant just isn't making me smell good.

I love Pela but their deal with Habitat Botanicals is an absolute scam. I was so excited to try out a tester kit for $9, and because I spend my money wisely, I checked everywhere in the email promo I received and the link to the product I ordered - THERE WAS NO MENTION OF A SUBSCRIPTION PACKAGE. I cancelled immediately and was refunded $9 a day later. So my question is...if I was actually signing up for the subscription, what was that $9 charge even going to be used for?!

I wanted to try out the $9 subscription, saw that it changed to over $60 after the first month. Instead of contacting me she went ahead and cancelled my order while shaming me. If you don't want people to sign up then cancel why is it an option...? AWFUL BUSINESS PRACTICES - there are other environmental brands I suggest trying
