We have had several types of insurance with NFU for many years and suddenly because our dog reached the grand old age of 15 years they cancelled the insurance. Very poor customer service with a couldn't care less attitude. When I said we could not longer trust NFU and would cancel our various insurance policies they emailed back to say just let us know when you are leaving. They were great when we first started insuring with them, not anymore.

After being cheated out of my money by another company I contacted them and spoke to a very helpful lady who quickly found me a very competitive quote and processed my insurance so I was able to get on the road

Had to pay 350 for a financial advisor to tell me I could take out my pension early. I was desperate for every penny of my pension, I had to cash it in early to pay to survive as I just lost my job. My pension was 32000 and I have had to pay 350 for a FA to tell me I can take out my money. No advice needed. Had to do nothing and charged me 350. Money I just cannot afford. It's totally disgusting, profiteering off of someone's misfortune. I do hope the NFU are pleased with themselves. As a long term customer, ex farmer I shall ensure I never use them again.

I haven't needed to make a claim so I can't comment on that, but after days of calling other insurance companies and getting quoted between £130 (with a £240 deposit) and £280!! a month) NFU got me to £67 with the same as a deposit. I'm so grateful. The lady was also very nice. (My quotes were so high as I had to make a claim last year due to my car being written off by a driver on her phone crashing into my parked car outside my house)

One star too much, but no option for awarding them no starts whatsoever. Refused to pay out on claim stating it was wear and tear. Part of vehicle removed to see the damage and they even refused to put it back to the condition it went to repair centre in. So my vehicle has more damage now than before. I have been an NFU customer for 15 years and have never made a claim and they treat loyal customers like this. I waited over a month for anyone to even assess the vehicle after speaking to the claims department. They have zero customer relations. I will be moving insurance companies ASAP. Would not recommend. Absolutely disgusted with the treatment I have received.

They deserve zero stars. After 14 years of being with them. They are now One of the worst insurance companies to deal with when you have claims like Business interruption (BI), Content and Stock losses They put several obstacles against you by hiring incompetent Sedgwick Loss Adjusters and Hatchet job companies like Toppings Partnership to frustrate, delay and decline your claims. My claim is almost 3 years now and no solution in site, rather requesting endless documents and pushing me to break laws of Data protection and Patients’ confidentiality to do so. If you are originally non British with foreign surnames, and ethnic minority members, forget it. They turn into forensic practitioners that they know nothing about. All formal complaints made against the ignorant and incompetent professionals are all ignored but they defend the indefensible of their obvious malpractice and professional negligence. Sadly, a claim since 2021 has never been sorted out and a claim due to Barbette storm damages last year has not been addressed but is on hold telling me to manage the losses myself. I run a healthcare business and all my Patients are suffering the consequences of their negligence and incompetency. Please don’t touch them with poles, they are bad news!!!

NFU one star too many they do not pay without a hell of a lot of quibbling, unlike the advertisement. Had my car written off by hit and run driver a few weeks ago and as a victim, they do not help you as you have to chase them. NFU has been slow in responding requiring you to be proactive and not offering to pay out as insured value on my Jaguar, I've spent thousands in maintenance they want receipts for everything. The courtesy car was a joke I have not been provided anything, they insult me with a Fiat 500 I refused a insult car and still no settlement. The engineer does not call you back when asked to and the engineer said I have to know show impossible to find equivalent cars with her conditions applied unreasonabley as none fit her criteria it's a very unreasonable request. I have started a formal complaint and will forward this to the Financial Ombudsman

It has been TWO YEARS since a #criminal hit and run claim was made against an NFU insured person. Whilst NFU #insurance accepted liability, they have only offered to pay half of the cost of repairs for the damage this incident has caused to the building as they claim that the balcony could have had pre-existing problems. The damaged heritage building is in a conservation area, it is a Grade II Listed Building and was fully renovated only 5 years ago. We have contacted our own Insurance, who have tried to negotiate an out of court settlement, but NFU has refused even though the damage to the building`s balcony is a hazard to public and in the verge of collapsing after the delivery truck insured by NFU reversed into it, shook the entire building and run off. We had to secure this balcony at our own cost during the claim process. The repairs to heritage buildings are very complicated, involve conservation officers specific guidance and full structural surveyors report that NFU have refused to pay for even though this is a requirement by law!!! They have dragged this matter for TWO YEARS for us to give up! I am ashamed of having had recommended #NFU Mutual to my clients for 6 years as a Land Rover salesman! I really hope none of them had to experience what I have been going through for the past 2 years. This is a final warning to NFU that if this matter is not settled within the next two weeks, WE WILL take this matter to the #media and provide all necessary evidence!

Appalling company that in my experience uses every trick to not pay insurance and put up barriers to delay any claim or complaint. I wouldn't touch them

Nfumutual are a shambles of a company. We have had claims unsettled for 3 years. The legal expenses cover via DAS is non existent. The solicitors you have to engage with on das approved panel are shocking and will do everything possible to reject your claim or if the claim is accepted do nothing for months, lose documents, don't have secure document management and solicitor churn is very high so you have to keep repeating information . Loyalty means nothing to them and they have no morals or desire to settle claims in a timely manner leaving any consequential losses stacking up. The stress and anxiety their incompetency or deliberate unprofessionalism causes is beyond belief.

We found the whole experience regarding an easement in our deeds totally distressing . It appears a neighbour can have a key to your property . The deeds state right of way on foot for her only suddenly it’s open season every man and his dog . I present my case but they tell me based on probability I don’t have one . So roll over please and give in to your vindictive neighbour is the answer otherwise DAS will take you to court to recover £25,000 plus interest and expenses . Two years later the incompetence of this company is astounding . Will not recommend this company and sadly will be moving my insurance cover to a reputable broker . The bullying tactics are another story as is there complaints dept utter waste time . To note I have been insured for 15 yrs with no claims they are loosing a loyal customer great way to kill your business! So the question remains when is a front door not a front door ?

Refused to quote me because I live in a city. Said they only quote more rural locations. Not made clear on any advertising I've seen.

Spoke to a very nice gentleman a few days ago who arranged a telephone appointment with one of his colleagues, agreed the day and time. I made sure I was back home ready for the call with all the info needed for a house insurance quote……. I am still waiting for the call! Not a good start and a terrible first impression if this is how they treat customers and the standard of their customer service, think I will stay with my current insurer John Lewis. Thanks NFU.

Spent ages waiting to get connected, then went through the quote only to be told that they did not cover my post code in a major city!! They are running what I assume is a National TV advertising campaign, so what is the point as it does not state limited geographical coverage. So will not bother to contact them again for ANY quotes and shall inform friends not to bother.
