Paypal is definitely protecting scammers. I had two transactions recently that I sought a refund on. Both times the seller turned out to be a Chinese scammer. I submitted all the evidence to Paypal, including pre-existing reports to Scamwatch and police. They didn't even bother to read my complaint, let alone look at any of the attachments I sent. I pushed things further, providing more evidence not just of how I'd been scammed, but also how this particular seller was operating dozens of fraudulent businesses in Australia. Paypal ignored that too. They've also refused refunds on faulty goods, goods that were nothing like what I ordered, and goods that never arrived. Paypal definitely don't protect the customer and actually make it deliberately hard to seek a refund. On top of that, they charge an extra 10c in every dollar on top of the current exchange rate from AUD to USD (and other currencies). That's not fees and charges which are additional, but them deciding what the exchange rate is and setting it 10c higher than the actual exchange rate, and then they prevent you from having the currency exchange handled by your bank or another institution. Paypal collects that extra money. And then there's their policy of holding on to your money (when you've been paid) so you can't access it, sometimes for weeks. Their customer service is non-existent and I'm doubtful that any complaint is handled by anything other than a bot issuing form-responses. So as well as not standing by their own, much-advertised customer protection policy, they actively support scammers and are themselves defrauding customers. Maybe it's time all the disgruntled customers got together and started a class action against Paypal?

Bitterly disappointed with paypal. I I purchased payment protection for an item via paypal. The item was completely off and looks nothing as advertised. Paypal would not help. Refused my appeal too and have no humanity in them at all. They support dodgy sellers and I deleted paypal and will never use them again. Please don't use them. save your time, effort, and stress. Please don't.

When I tell u I am tired of PayPal and their deceptive business practices. How can PayPal charge a persons account with a late fee when the payment was made on time? And when the person files a complaint and asks that the late fee be reversed you want to say that the complaint isn't a valid billing dispute. Taha, I beg to differ. If I made My payment on time and provided proof from my checking account that the payment was made on time how can the claim be denied on the basis that it doesn't meet PayPals criteria as a valid billing complaint. I'm confused and would like to have the late fee reversed. It's not my fault that PayPal chooses to post the payment 2 to 3 days later when the payment was made on time but for PayPal to charge the account a incorrect late fee is beyond corrupt business practices and needs to be addressed. REFUND please

Since Elon sold PayPal the service has dramatically gone downhill. Given my last complaint about a purchase & PayPals handling of my complaint I wouldn't recommend them at all.

My Paypal account was hacked at a football game. I only noticed because I started receiving emails asking me to create an account for tickets I did not purchase. I contacted PP immediately via my app to report fraud. The app told me "this action is not available for this transaction at this time". What?? So I called my bank to report fraud. They blocked the transaction and all the headache that went with it for me. I tried to contact PP via phone but was told there was a problem in the system and they could not access my account at this time. Then PP tried another form of payment, my credit card! PP did not even alert me that they were having "problems" with payment and were trying another method. So luckily, my CC alerted me of the charge to which I called and reported fraud on the CC since I was unable to solve the problem with PP. I have since been able to contact PP, have closed the account, (which took 4 phone calls, endless amounts of wait time, AND a waiting period of 5 days) and reported it as fraud. I thought my PP problems were over, but no. I just found out 2 weeks after the fraud, PP has found an old debit card, not even currently linked to the account and charged it!!! I am so furious. All PP cares about is getting paid. There is no customer service and they don't care about you or fraud. Do not trust them with your security. They are not secure.

PayPal's Disgraceful Treatment of Merchants: A Nightmare for Businesses PayPal is notorious for holding funds hostage under the pretense of "protecting purchasers," but let’s call it what it is: an abuse of power. They arbitrarily decide when and how you can access your own money, leaving businesses stranded and cash-strapped. Running a business becomes impossible when PayPal plays gatekeeper, releasing funds at a snail's pace only when it suits them. Their so-called customer service? A complete joke. You’re bounced around from one clueless representative to another in an endless loop that never resolves anything. They dodge complaints like it’s an Olympic sport—no proper ticketing system, no direct email, and no phone number to escalate issues. Instead, you’re left navigating through a maze of useless links that lead to nowhere. My advice: ditch PayPal. They treat merchants with complete disregard and unethical behavior that can cripple your business. If you want to save yourself from the nightmare that is PayPal, remove them as a payment option now. Save yourself the frustration, and take your business elsewhere.

Once the standard in online payments, they are now a complete train wreck. Horrible customer service, conflicting excuses and no solutions. They unilaterally freeze accounts, with no explanation or remedy, even after a decade of loyal, complaint free patronage. Use a different company and save yourself a lot of headaches, time and grief

Previously sent money twice to Jamaica with Xoom with no problems . PayPal now owns Xoom ,apparently to cut off competition ,so you end up on PayPal’s own money transfer platform. This time the email of the recipient was switched to an email that doesn’t exist and funds were diverted to someone else’s account. I suspect that PayPal’s system has been hacked . PayPal says they are unable to track the transaction and doesn’t know where the money actually went. How can you do electronic wire transfers and not have a way of tracking them? My bank agrees they sent the money to PayPal as requested but the recipient never received the money and Paypal is only able to tell me they sent the money to an email that doesn’t exit. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT SEND MONEY WITH XOOM. XOOM was a great way to send money abroad but XOOM no longer exists. You may think you’re sending money with XOOM but actually your using PayPal’s platform and it is not secure.

Paypal is very unsecure and does not protect their customers against fraud, nor do they make good any actual fraud that occurs on your account. Someone hacked into my account, set themselves up as a user without me knowing, changed the primary email to their email, set up their own bank account, withdrew money from my checking account and transferred it to theirs. I lost over $2,700 before Paypal reps finally figured out what happened and eliminated the user. I filed a fraud case with Paypal and despite the fact that the Paypal rep that I was speaking with said it was a very clear case of fraud, Paypal denied the claim, stating that it look like regular activity on my account. I appealed it twice, and both times the new reps on the phone assured me it should be a no brainer fraud claim, the powers that be at Paypal denied the claim again both times. At this point, I would honestly like to start a class action lawsuit against them, because I have to believe I am not the only one they are doing this to. In any case, I will never use them again and I highly recommend no one else does unless you want to lose your hard earned money.

I have been with PayPal now for 20 years and I’m just about to leave as I phoned them over a situation that I’ve lost £1530 being with them. Young lady on the phone and all she wanted to do was basically flog me off that they didn’t want to pay or nothing to do with it. I asked to speak to a manager and she put me on hold and said the manager will be with you soon and no one answered after half an hour. Through the years I have a problem with PayPal and this is the final straw. They actually want to take your money and use it to make themselves money but when it comes back to you. They don’t want know so PLEASE PLEASE do not use PayPal anymore or sign up with them.

Unfortunately we fell victim to a phishing attack. Someone stole our employee's PayPal credentials and they transferred $14k to 'friends and family'. The strange part is that PayPal's system didn't detect this fraud. Didn't see that someone from abroad was transferring money from our Business account to 'friends and family'. All of this was happening in front of my eyes while we were trying to submit a case about fraudulent use of our funds. Even after we submitted the case, the fraudsters continued to send money. So that's that. You would think that PayPal's Customer Support, once they know about this situation, would help us in some way. Well, they wouldn't. They told us that 'there was no unauthorized use of our account'. And you're left staring at the screen and wondering how is it possible that they're on the side of fraudsters. Because obviously they transfer their money to a PayPal account and they have the fraudsters' identity. Conclusion: Someone can steal your money in PayPal and you can't do anything about it because they protect fraudsters.

Had a balance of $1567. Billing cycle ends around the 11th of the month but my payment is due on the 2nd of each month. I log on August 1st and select “ pay entire balance”. So I paid the entire balance which should mean I have a zero balance. On August 9th , PayPal showed I had a balance of $239. I went through my transactions and I had only charged around $200 but I had 2 credits for $93. That should have left my balance of $107. Called customer service and spoke to Erin. She put me on hold and never came back. I called back and spoke to Don who wasn’t helpful at all. He could not tell me how PayPal had my balance added. I cancelled my card at that time. Worst company I have ever dealt with.

PAYPAL SUPPORTS THIEVES and SCAMMERS We opened a case in PayPal regarding a scam website (isneakeroutlets.com) which we paid $98 through PayPal to buy two pairs of sneakers. We never received our shoes, and seller constantly provided false information ( first time they email us with fake tracking number which said our package was delivered to local post office, we went to our post office and were told that the tracking number is invalid, we tried to call customer service number on the scam website, they hanged up as soon as we told them it is regarding our order. ) We opened a case in PayPal then seller provided a different tracking number saying that our package was delivered by UPS, we Called UPS and provided the tracking number, UPS representative told us that the tracking number belongs to a package from Amazon and shipment address is not our address the weight of delivered package was 18 pounds , we ordered only 2 sneakers which weight barley 2 pounds. UPS told us that PAYPAL can call UPS and they provide them the proof that the tracking number does not belong to our address. We provided all this information to PayPal by calling their customer service twice, but PAYPAL still sided with scammer and closed our case without even considering proofs that we provided. We are going to close our account with PAPAL and tell our friends and families to not use PAYPAL because PayPal is a company which supports thieves.ide them the proof that the tracking number does not belong to our address.
