(Please note that in most cases import duty gets triggered based on value of the item being imported.) We have no control over this. (We recommend you opt for 'Registered' shipping as there have been lesser incidences of import duty levies for that shipping option.) “The suggestion that shipping is free of charge is technically true but very misleading for customers in the EU. I purchased a watch for £52. I was then invoiced for an additional £30.04 by DHL, payable before the watch would be released. The addition charge was in excess of 60% of the purchase price. The calculation of the amount of that additional charge took into account £36.99 for freight. So, whilst you don’t pay for shipping, the extra charges you have to pay are directly and significantly increased due to the cost of freight. There was a brief note saying there could be charges when selecting this type of free delivery. But, it was not made clear how grossly disproportionate those charges could be or that they would take into account the cost of freight. A reasonable retailer would make this clear to customers, so they can make an informed choice about whether to continue with the purchase and if so the best method of delivery. At best this is an innocent but misguided lack of transparency, and at worst a strategy to get people to buy from creation watches, when they could get the same item cheaper elsewhere.”

Dear Adam, We understand that you are unhappy about the fact that your shipment was charged import duties by the customs of your country. As explained on our website, the shipping fees are paid by us but Import duties (if any) are the responsibility of the buyer. While we regret that you have to pay import duties, we have no control over this since these taxes are charged by your customs authorities (and typically are the same as Sales tax or VAT that you generally pay for your purchases. Just that we don't charge you for these taxes in advance, but your customs do during delivery). On our website this is clearly mentioned next to the shipping option you choose for your order. “The shipping place was Singapore and despite it, the delivery was quick to my country (Mexico) and without any setback (they respected the estimated delivery date) even at Christmas. “The difficulty was that I am in the U.S. and CreationWatches is not, so my credit card initially responded questioning the charge. That caused a bit of delay and a need for customer support. Not their fault but a part of the experience. Otherwise, the customer service was responsive and polite. The watch arrived fine. And I love the watch, so it all worked out.”
