“Generally unprofessional. They often don’t reply to Emails, the warehouse is a terrible mess and didn‘t look as though it had been cleaned lately.
They took absolutely uninspired photos - although we provided them with excellent ones.
The description was very brief and gave no additional information than the picture showed. So unsurprisingly our object sold barely above the lowest figure they has given - though the new value was about 5 times as much and ours was as new.
It took them until 26th Feb to pay out from an auction on 1st Feb. And for this very indifferent service they take 21% plus various sums for insurance, pat test and lot fee. So we received £47.65 from a selling price of £75- absolutely not worth it. I would rather have given it away!
Cannot recommend them at all for selling.”
“Unprofessional arrogant and dirty premises. This place is so dirty and unorganised. The auctions are more like jumble sales or car boot. They will sell your items at 20 pounds by time they take letting fee of 4.50 then commission plus vat you receive very little. Only winner is the guy called Angus. Once he has your item he will arrogantly ignore you. No one replies to emails or phone calls. A Thoroughly bad auctioneers. If you are thinking of auctioning your items please try dugglebys in York scarborough and beverley. Their website has a virtual tour of their beautiful Scarborough auction rooms.”
“My experience of Ryedale auctioneers goes back about 2 years. sadly, all bad.
Firstly, i entered a few items of Militaria and was told when dropping them off that I would be contacted regarding cataloguing and to confirm reserves. next thing I knew, they had published the catalogue two days prior to the sale with low guides on my items. I trusted that the reserves were in place but instead they sold my items at about 25% of their value.
Secondly, I bought a gun cleaning kit. When I went to collect it, it was nowhere to be found.
Thirdly, I bought a new part for a land Rover. Again, when I went to collect it, it could not be found.
Finally, I bought two lots of shotgun cartridges and they appeared in my ' won lots' list. I was invoiced later that day for only one lot and the other has disappeared from my ' won lots' list.
Enough! They are completely useless and I will be sending a report to Trading Standards.”
“Most unprofessional auctioneers. Do not return emails or calls
Do not give you an estimate for your items and keep it for months before putting it into a sale. The place they keep your items is dirty and dusty.
I would AVOID”
“I had four items to go into a sale Ryedale auctioneers had these for over six months they never put them into any sale, after multiple contacts they sold one item as they put this item in two sales they charged two lotting fees on top of the commission.
As they did not put any of the other items into a sale, I went to collect these back, they told me they could not find them. I have seen other people have similar experiences with them loosing items put in for sale or paying for items that are not sent. Without doubt the most unprofessional and incompetent Auction company I have ever dealt with, I would advise anyone not to use them.”
