Would given stars if Could I have just received an email saying my insurance will be up soon and that I didn't need to do anything would be automatically renewed, thought this strange as had cancelled last year and went with other firm much cheaper. called right away today and they have canceled the renewal for this year but they had taken full premium out of my bank for last year. The say they have a recording of the conversation that I called to cancel but seemingly I said I would think about new reduced offer so they have taken that as they can just go ahead. I thought the companies spoke to one another asked about past claims etc if I would have had a reason to claim I wouldn't even have known I had been insured with them andI didn't even think that you could have two insurers they always put the responsibility on the buyer. What they have actually done is steel nearly two hundred pounds from a 74 year old.

If I could have given SAGA no stars that would have been a more accurate representation of my experience. ON NO ACCOUNT USE THIS COMPANY. After having our house and contents insured with Saga for a number of years we had the misfortune of having to claim for a nearly new TV resulting from two parts of the stand separating. On contacting the number on the policy details for claims, which turned out not to be SAGA at all (they only leverage the Saga name to sell policies), we were told we were not covered for electrical or sound system items at all, despite our policy saying otherwise. Their claims are handled by a company called RSA which are the biggest bunch of shysters on the planet. On phoning Saga to ask them to sort out this misinformation regarding our policy Saga agreed we were covered and eventually RSA agreed they had liability. You would think that would be the end of the matter but far from it. RSA then falsely reduced the payout by claiming they could replace the TV cheaper by claiming it was available from John Lewis cheaper than the replacement we had purchased. Unfortunately for them my company has contracts with John Lewis and they confirmed that was rubbish. These people are dishonest shysters, pure and simple. Given that Saga are known for selling to older people, who may well not have challenged them or felt intimidated into accepting what they were told, it is disgraceful behavior. DON'T GO ANYWHERE NEAR THEM.

Couldn't believe what saga charges. Got a policy from another well known, widely advertised insurer for £349. cheaper than the saga quote. Only change was contents £50.000 instead of £75.000 and £100 more excess.

I would rate Saga -5 stars if I could..they are complete rip off merchants.. We had been with them a while and then changed our car..the new car being 11 years old and a Ford Focus Estate. Nice car but not exactly a petrol head's dream. The quote I got was nearly 3x more even though I have 12 years NCD. They blamed the underwriter..bs. I then shopped around and got insurance from another company for less than half the price they quoted. I therefore cancelled my policy with Saga. They now hit me with a bill for close to £84 for cancelling.. administration costs. Again bs DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Do not use this insurer! Involved in a road traffic accident on 23rd April. No correspondence from them and now 23rd May. Car has sat in garage since 27th May and estimate only approved on 21st May as there was a computer glitch! I have personal injury cover and sent them doctor's assessment (cost me £21) stating I have whiplash for which they won't reimburse me as they said they are admitting liability on my behalf - I do not accept that I was responsible for the accident!

Unfortunately could only give 1-star as there is no provision for ZERO! The most stressful time of my life dealing with a claim through these useless people, SAGA has made a SAGA of our lives throughout this claim, 2- years plus since our claim for storm damage that wrecked our home and we are still dealing with the total fiasco that Saga and their nominated insurer and claims management co- Direct Group has created, it is now lodged with the Ombudsman but still they keep sending me 'surprise' insurance invitations with a made up defaqto or should it be DEFECTO rating!! Would not recommend Saga to anyone, the worst experience in my life, they should be brought to book for miss selling, avoid at all costs.

Useless company who do NOTHING to assist customers who have experienced a home emergency. 10 weeks down the line they still haven't written to my Mother who is 92 and unable to live in her bungalow due to a flood. By now the problem should have been sorted - cannot imagine what would have happened if she had not been able to stay with a relative. This is not how you expect a company to act when they say they give a 5 STAR service. Disgusting. Am going to contact Watchdog, insurance e ombudsman etc

My elderly parents needed to make a claim when one of them taken ill with a declared pre existing condition. Had to sign a disclaimer for the circa £30,000 bill before they would release patient from hospital, and even though patient had sustained injuries from nursing staff. It took many weeks of stress for the matter to be resolved and needed myself and my sister to take the pressure off my parents who couldn’t have managed handling the claim themselves. They are hard of hearing and Saga tried to explain disclaimer via a phone call to the hospital in Spain from the UK. Never would I recommend Saga travel insurance.

I got a quote with a NCD. was then told it does not apply and would need a new quote they delayed this quote so that the time expired for me to cancel whist coming up with a ridiculous new quote so it was either pay up or pay up a cancellation fee. To add to bitter taste they sent me a letter confirming my NCB. Would never trust them again especially if a claim was involved. my advice stay clear.

3rd March 2018 - extremely busy time for SAGA and all insurance companies should be NO EXCUSE for neglecting the conditions of the insurances. MY 88 year old Aunt has paid for years, her cold water tank froze and brought down the ceiling into her sitting room/dining area/kitchen - water went into the bedroom she was sleeping in - so lucky she wasn't underneath the collapse. She was assigned an agent to take care of her only to find he phoned her bungalow phone number - she couldn't be there - she had to go to her son's - the care has been almost nil - she should have been offered a hotel that day, plus a promise of when the builders could start - they are dragging their heels and not fulfilling their side of the contract. The stress may kill her. The family are of course doing their best but she is in quite a state-she needs to be told what will and won't happen and when. rubbish service. 6April 2018

Saga's Home Emergency Insurance is not worth the paper it is written on. During a recent very cold spell, our boiler refused to start one morning and would not respond to the usual trick of hot water on the condensate pipe. After trying for almost an hour I decided to call the SAGA Home Emergency Insurance number. I was greeted by a recording telling me that due to the inclement weather there has been unprecedented demands on their resources and I should call out a local tradesman and reclaim the cost back from them. What ....?? We are an elderly, vulnerable couple now in a home without any heating whatsoever with outside temperatures of -4 deg C and no other telephone number was provided so that we could speak to someone and explain our position. Our roads were not blocked by snow: traffic was moving freely. I took out this insurance so that THEY would initiate the call-out. In the end I resolved the problem myself and also resolved to get some compensation back from SAGA. However, as noted on this and other review sites, SAGA just pass the buck. They just don't want to know. Despite their name being plastered everywhere on the Home Emergency information booklets they claim that the underwriters (AXA-Assistance) are totally responsible. So Mr SAGA why is it named SAGA Home Eergency Insurance? Why do I pay SAGA? Why do SAGA provide ALL the documentation? Don't be fooled by the 5* Defaqto rating. That is based on what they say they will provide and not what actually happens in pratice - as I discovered. I will never go back to SAGA, I cannot forgive them for this one. I recommend you think twice before spending money on this useless insurance.
