Insured two cars and had excellent service, also my home essential cover, good value and easy to deal with.

Please be aware all. SAGA are merely a broker for insurance. They do not deal with any claims in house. They are very poor at handling complaints. The 3rd party companies they use to underwrite the insurance and to deal with assessing building claims are incompetent, unprofessional, downright rude. Do NOT use SAGA. Pay a little more and go to an Insurance company who deal with their policies IN HOUSE; And that includes underwriters. Would never use SAGA again. They are a FRONT. Present this fluffy persona for the over 50s. They are wolves in sheeps clothing

BEWARE When renewing my car insurance took the advice from a Saga adviser, only to be saddled with a substantial bill six weeks later. Beware all you old uns out there read the T/Cs over and over. Do Saga target the over 50s assuming they’re are vulnerable?

Re: Car insurance; I was insured with them but on the renewal the premium was such an increase we complained and moved else-where. That was December 2017! we have received a letter today [20th Feb 2020] from their leading star, Mr Richard Smith, Head of Customer Advocacy, who is asking what the complaint or dissatisfaction was for... and wanted to improve the service they provide! I couldn't believe my eyes! Is this a real chocolate tea-pot company or what? Having read other customer feedback reports, we will not even consider your company in the future; you give the industry a bad name.

If i could give no stars I would. After my wife's car was hit whilst parked by what turned out to be an uninsured driver I forwarded a detailed report with photos, letters to the other driver, texts from the other driver admitting fault etc. Heard nothing so Emailed the claims team - what a farce that was. The response ranged from had no record of the correspondence to they have the correspondence to they never read anything as they are a claims line. Really - so a customer gives you cast iron no fault claim evidence and you are not interested. Or you have lost it or you have it - take your pick which is it to be as I was told all of these. Telephoning the claims line was an experience. One lady went to look for the report then just cut me off and did not call back. Other staff were unhelpful and not interested. A final Email was "I cant find nothing on file " - seems to be poorly educated staff without command of English. I rendered a formal complaint in writing. The published complaints policy is that a reply will be made within 5 working days. What a joke - after near on three weeks have heard nothing from Saga so yet another complaint sent out. I am not holding my breath. I will now not renew either of our car insurance with Saga at next renewal date and would never use then for ANYTHING. If you need to claim, Email or talk to somebody to get any sense you end up in the hands of what appears to be young and poorly trained call centre staff who have no interest in understanding the issues. Worst customer service I have ever had.

Do not use this company if you have any problems, cancelled my policy on car while ill in hospital. When I came out of hospital they said they had sent 5 letters,3 in fact recieved, and a recorded delivery letter signed by a mystery man called Mr Batter, funny because I live above a chippy !! Nice lady on phone, but inept management team,as would not resolve issue I had,as I,and staff could not of signed for recorded letter, due to me being in hospital, and no chippy staff not present at time of alleged time of signing.Good luck SAGA with your so called caring TV and media adverts, should be reported for false advertising !! Anyway,no family or friends will be using SAGA in the future, and the ones who are with them are all going to cancel and policies with SAGA.Good job I did not die,as nogood at typing 6 feet under anyway.Good luck SAGA,read your reviews, and hope your company goes out of business, looking by all the rubbish reviews you are getting on the internet, doubt it will not be long !!

Very easy to renew but hopeless when you try to claim. Leak in boiler or system. Took an hour to arrange call out. Engineer confirmed leak. Didn't know if we were covered for repair. After an hour still trying to find out if covered by saga. Unfortunately tied in to 3 year deal. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Retired, didn't need two cars anymore so sold one and cancelled my insurance with Saga. I was told that that was that and that the direct debit would be stopped at midnight on that day, all payments up to date. A couple of days later I received a letter from Saga telling me that I owed them £57.77. I queried this and was told that there was a £50 cancellation fee. Make sure you read the small print is the message, £50 is excessive and I would never take out any insurance with Saga again.

Saga Holidays - cruise started well - 4 days in had to curtail on saga doctors advice - claimed as we had saga insurance - 3 months later said not insured - 58.00 compensation - after prolonged threats of court action eventually paid out 5k ! - Never use Saga insurance - they will do anything to get out of paying as they use underwriters who obviously take a commission cut !

Used Saga for the first time last year to insure my house and contents. I have made no claims in this year. Renewal has just arrived with an increase of premium of 36.5%. After speaking to Saga they did agree to reduce this increase to 26%. They say they give new customers only a further 15% discount. Clearly only interested in new customers not interested in looking after existing customers.

Seeing all the lovely comments of how easy it is to take out your car or home insurance and such an easy website to negotiate, I thought I would add my story, as I have not seen any reviews of people who have successfully claimed My Saga with Saga My letter to Saga I feel very disappointed in Saga I have only had three claims in about sixty years not all the time with Saga Insurance 1 A sink where I dropped a spanner in it. 2 A sheet of glass in our Lean-to which got cracked and a fire side rug when it got burnt. On this occasion the first thing I noticed was water coming through the ceiling I rushed up into the loft and I am eighty three years old and that is not so easy nowadays I expected it to be a sticking Ball valve but no it was a split in the side of the PVC cold water storage tank everywhere was saturated I turned the water off and turned on the hot taps to drain the tank I called Saga and was told someone one would come to sort it out I waited until quite late and as no one had come I phoned to tell them I had turned the water off and drained the tank and to come next day. I then had to fill the tank up to just below the split as my wife is an invalid and must have hot water as Carers come in three times a day to assist me. The next day a man arrived to check it out I’m afraid he did not seem to know very much and said turn off the water and turn on the cold taps to drain the tank I said my cold taps are on the mains and he said that was wrong I said I would not want to drink from a loft tank he took a few photographs and spoke to someone at the office and then said they would not be doing anything and they deal with drains and to call back to Saga which I duly done. When I spoke to the lady at Saga she said I was not covered for plumbing or water leakage I assumed I was covered and she also pointed out that there would be a three hundred pound access to pay I put this all down to myself being complacent in not checking my policy properly. Luckily I had stopped the water before it brought the ceiling down or got onto the carpet although all the Artex was hanging off or in bubbles I thought that if I was going to have to pay for a plumber and the first access I would have a go myself, if I had known I would have obtained British Gas Homecare four that covers everything which I have now done. I also managed to find a good plumber who knew what he was doing and fitted a new tank for me. I then had to clear out all the loft insulation that had become sodden and then go to B&Q for new rolls of insulation and putting this down was not an easy task for me climbing up into the loft and laying it while looking after my wife I had to have the heating on day and night to dry everything out and I have now started to scrape the ceiling and will have a go at Artexing myself. All of this has cost me about six hundred and fifty pounds but the worse thing has been the stress of looking after my wife who has Dementia and having to sort all this out. It would be a good idea to enlighten all us older people when we are not covered for certain things and recommend British Gas Homecare four for our peace of mind. I cancelled my car and home insurance with Saga and will never use them again.

Company ok until you have to claim then you will regret ever going with them. Worse insurance company i have ever been with & I'm 61. 4 months to resolve & I'm out of pocket by over a £1000 in an accident i was totally innocent in. Pay a bit extra & go with a company more competent & more professional just in case you need to claim.

Rang their emergency line (we took out this add-on at a premium) following a leak from the bathroom (from behind the shower.) THREE days later (good job it wasn't an emergency as we had turned off the water supply) a guy turned up and surprise! surprise! said we weren't covered due to the usual 'wear and tear.' Because we had the temerity of actually investigating a claim our premium went up exponentially. Do not touch these people with a barge pole. Woeful nay risible! Shocking that they can get away with such subterfuge (particularly in the climate of PPI and the like.) As they say greed never learns its lesson.

SAGA= RUBBISH INSURANCE Might be easy and quick to renew, we were with them for over 3 years and still are till August this year, WE WON'T BE RENEWING. Had some storms and suffered roof damage, my neighbour had a complete new roof but when I tried to claim I was told -NO-...Aparently according to their wind speed records taken over 14 miles away from my home, the highest wind speed was 46 MPH, Aparently it has to be over 50 mph before any claim can be looked at......generally unhelpful and wouldn't listen when I explained that we had storm damage from gusts up to 83mph. As I said, might be easy to renew and maybe they are cheaper than some but you try making a claim when you need them. We WON'T be renewing or recommending Saga.
