Took advantage of their 25% wine discount offer. One substitution, which was OK, but the price on one of the other selections had gone from £5.50 a bottle to £7 overnight without any explanation. When I tried to contact customer services the woman I spoke to didn't understand English! I'm now taking it up as an unauthorised transaction with the card provider. Order number was 727464642.

They don’t even deserve one star. Ordered groceries. Never showed up. Rang up to complain and get my order delivered again. The overseas call centre woman put the phone down on me when I asked for her supervisor. Keep in mind this is also their dedicated customer services number so these people should be trained to deal with irate customers. Finally got my groceries redelivered 2 hours later than agreed and was chatting to the delivery man who told me that the man who was supposed to deliver to me before is a man who refuses to climb any stairs, so probably returned saying nobody was home. What kind of people is this company employing???? Totally disgusted. Won’t be shopping with them again.

I ordered click and collect from the Grantham store, I ordered 2 dozen Sainsburys Large eggs at £2.55 per dozen. Didn't want substitutions but what did I get , 2 boxes of 10 Happy Eggs at £6.90 per 10! Absolute rip off, I have had no response from customer services.

I attempted to call 2 Sainsburys stores to find out about clothing stock availability (on the advice of a Sainburys colleague) but Sainsburys now have a new automated service which ensures you never get through to a store. The automated voice tells you it does not understand your request and promptly cuts you off. This is a new low for Sainburys....or maybe this is some sort of joke?

The click and collect service is really awful. Orders not ready at the allocated time and no apology . Too many substitutions which don’t resemble what you order. I really think they should seriously look at the service provided and if it can’t be improved give up doing it . It is just a joke

I was absolutely furious today as my delivery was 2.5 hours late without any kind of communication at all, so I was just waiting and waiting. When the driver arrived, no apology at all either. When I called Customer Service I was eventually told with a rather disinterested voice that the driver should show up in about half an hour - over an hour later he arrived at last. I'm not sure what's going on at Sainsburys, but I had a similar experience with the delivery showing up over an hour late, no call, no indication or apology once they finally arrived. So not happy about this level of service, bearing in mind my shop was of a substantial amount, then I would expect a minimum level of service which the last 2 times was absolutely non-existant !!! It spoilt my entire afternoon sitting by the window like an idiot !! I sure hope Sainsbury will get their act together for maybe another shop at Sainsbury, not sure at this stage, if I want to experience something like that again as a 2 hour 45 minutes delay is not acceptable at all. So beware, you may have to face similar delays potentially !!

Just had a Sainsburys Taste the Difference Lamb Mousaka for 2 persons, having previously bought and enjoyed this product, we bought another one but unfortunately this one was awful, the aubergines were just skins and so tough they couldn't be eaten. Not Certainly Taste the The Difference as nearly half the Mousaka inedible. Needless to say we won't be buying this product again. 1 out of 5

Have tried to smart shop twice and failed miserably. The handset would not scan some items and it timed me out during both shops. Some items (peppers) could not be scanned or weighed. Some scans did not match the price shown on the label. Every time it went wrong I had to search for someone to help. When my hangset died all the items had to be scanned again. Likewise when I failed the check because my husband had put cakes in without telling me. I am nearly 80 and it all takes too long. If those who can do it get better prices I will not be using Sainsburys.

I would give zero if i could. Customer service nasty and not helpful, in other word they just don't give damn for anything. You order home delivery and getting nothing of what you ordered, you order click and collect and still getting nothing, and you will get email only on the day of collection when you made plans and dedicated time for this. Don't see point of pre-orders if you are not getting anything and idea that they collect it from the shelf on the day of collection. Well i can do shopping then myself or ask friends or family, why should i pay for that? absolutely horrible service

The review is for AJ, the delivery driver in Nottingham, who has just come out of his way to deliver my order-THANK YOU! The call centre service was poor, though and led to confusion and irritation at their lack of comprehension of the situation-let me know if you need any further feedback about their soft skills. Once again, AJ THANK YOU!

Do not order online!!!! On the day of collection they do not have half the goods in stock or they do but in a different store. Appalling customer service, useless, waste of time. Will not set my foot in that shop again

I normally never leave reviews but this has enraged me so much..... Copied text from my comment left at the Sainsbury's Facebook page. My delivery arrived today just an hour after receiving an email to say that I would be receiving five bottles of Codorniu Cava Brut and not seven as ordered. Under the number 5 was written the amount those five would cost, which was £37.50. That works out to be £7.50 a bottle. On ordering, I took advantage of your well publicised 25% off 'any' wines if ordering six or more with the offer. I ordered ten bottles altogether, seven Codorniu and three different wines. The Codorniu should have been £5.64. My main reason for buying online from Sainsbury's for the first time ever was due to this offer. I had started an order with Tesco but checked your offers on wine and switched. If you were out of stock of the Codorniu then that would be fine to reduce my order and refund me the difference, taking into account the 25% discount. But you are not out of stock. I have just checked and you are in stock. So why was my order reduced? And why was my reduced order then billed without the discount, which I was still entitled to due to having bought eight bottles (5+1+1+1)? Was my order intentionally reduced so that the discount could be removed and you could charge the full price for the wine? I suspect so. I quick Google search shows that other people have experienced the same thing. An article in This is Money in January discussed the exact thing happening to another customer. How many customers have bought from you having seen this offer, only to find the offer has not been honoured? I have made three long phone calls today, taking up valuable time and energy, and come to the conclusion your system is set up to deprive customers of this discount. Most people will not notice the 25% reduction has been cancelled. Most people will assume a big company such as Sainsbury's would have their systems set up so that customers can rest assured they are not being cheated. Most customers are busy and don't have the time to check these things. Does Sainsbury's habitually take advantage of this fact? I am absolutely appalled that this has happened and even more appalled that it's been going on for so long. I will be contacting Trading Standards and asking them to consider this as fraud. How many people have been deprived of this offer they were entitled to? #payitbackSainsburys

I went through a self check out at sainsbury's in woolton Village and found them to be disgusting with left over debrie where you place your goods. A good scrub with a dish washing brush and some cleaning fluid would have done the trick. Shame on you Sainsbury. A little care can go a long way.

Twenty years ago I visited the Sainsbury's on Cromwell Road in London. What an experience! A grocery store outside of the U.S. that was innovative, clean, well stocked with a great selection, and offering unbeatable service. I returned to London just two weeks ago anticipating a return to Sainsbury's. What did I find? Not the same Sainsbury's. I found a run down, extremely dirty, poorly and hastily stocked former shell of what used to be a dazzling gem. Imagine my surprise to find 2 or 3 aisles in the middle of the store with a jumble of poorly made cheap clothing? Why on earth is this necessary in a grocery store. Selection of food was poor and inadequate. Many food categories have been cut back dramatically, especially in the dairy and fresh meat departments. Food quality in the produce department offered undersized, past their freshness, vegetables. I could go on and on with the disappointments. I'm just so disappointed.
