I emailed to complain about how items were packed in a very flimsey weak box. When the box arrived , the top had been ripped open and the items inside clearly visable.. I was amazed that everything was still there .. as all or part of what i purchased could have been taken.. Screwfix couldnt be bothered to acknowledge or reply to my email.

Should say on their application forms: SCREWFIX CAN CAUSE YOU SERIOUS MONEY PROBLEMS. They hide a personal guarantee in the small print on the account application forms. I only found out about this when my company ceased trading earlier in the year and it has turned my life upside down. Their solicitors are a nightmare to deal with, spent hours on the phone and still no resolution. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Be warned if you buy a faulty potentially dangerous electrical product from screwfix they will not give you a refund if you do not have a receipt, even if it is new. I bought some dimmer switches, plate switches and plug sockets over a period of time for both my newly decorated bedroom and my daughters flat. Just had a dimmer switch fitted in my bedroom and it was faulty so I used one of the others which works fine. The faulty one is new, in the original box and has screwfix product code on the back but they are refusing to refund because I do not have the receipt. I have had numerous email exchanges with different members of their customer service team as no one person seems to take ownership for each complaint. They keep asking the same questions, receipt? Can’t find, A number from invoice? Not registered, card statement? paid cash. I am always buying things in screwfix and not that they will be bothered as they have poor customer service, I won’t be buying anything else from them again, nor will anyone else in the family. There is a toolstation right next door to the one I go in so will just shop in there instead.

Spent around £200 on an order to buy a Mitre Saw with a Mask Respirator and ear protectors. Mask and saw arrived in used condition with scratches and grease marks, I couldn't believe my eyes. They replaced the used equipment, but I had to pay for it again, or wait a week or so for the replacement. Replacement Mitre Saw was a used second hand tool again! They offered me store credit as a "goodwill gesture" if I keep it, which I did accept because I needed the tool to work with and I still got the warranty if something goes wrong. Still one might expect a brand new tool if pays for it. I tried to use the store credit over the phone as instructed for my next order, still paid full price for some reason. Haven't received the order for a week, had to call about it 4-5 times. I was assured that when I receive the order, I can get a partial refund for the amount of the store credit. I have received the order, contacted them about the partial refund, they refuse to give it to me because "the credit was a goodwill gesture". With so many things "gone wrong" repeatedly getting used equipment, store credit that cannot be used, etc. I can't help it but to think that I am a target of some kind of a scam. I am rating 1 Star due to recent repeat experiences. I have been to a Screwfix store 3 times in the last month and wanted to buy the cheapest lamp. A BC set of three lamps £0.99, not in stock. In fact I had to go through an entire list of lamps and got to a single lamp for nearly £4 before there was one in stock. This happened again for an SES lamp all the cheap ones were not in stock and after trying many of the cheaper ones only a single expensive lamp was in stock. Same thing happened today, I always need them short notice for jobs and end up paying well over the odds. This is either a cunning profit making scheme by Screwfix or they have extremely poor stock levels of the cheaper items every time I am visiting.

So this is what I reviewed for PayPal, hopefully Srewfix may read yhus as well before they statt loosing custoners...... All the time PayPal stuck to eBay orders they seemed fine, now they are diversifying and advertising on the TV, joined up with Screwfix etc it highlights what total rouges they are. They are no more secure than a card company and for me possibly less secure, all the time you want to just buy something, fine, you cancel it and want a refund... haha. You could wait 20 days for them to put the money back in your account, even if the supplier transfers it within a few days it goes into PayPal Pending accounf, and just sits there for minimum r days and could be 20 dsys, they have a multitude of excuses, try and speak to someone is impossible, a robot response if you are lucky. Screwfix guarantee they transfer you refund in 48 hours, they do and print out a certificate to show you, what they either don't know or don't tell you, PayPal then hang on to it for another 2 to 3 days, earning interest on you money. My best to date is 10 days wait for 260 pounds. I gave told them total robbers, total rouges and surprised Screwfix entertain them. I'm also complaining to the Advertising Standards Agency as the t.v. advert is misleading. Thanks

Your returns policy I bought a 4 way dimmer switch costing over £75.00, when my electrician installed it he found that it was incompatible with my LEDs. When I tried to return it the man in the store said that the plastic bag was torn so he couldn’t resell it. I pointed out that the bag was sealed so how could I test it without damaging the sealed bag. You have your very own get out clause in your returns policy because you supply expensive goods in cheap unresealable plastic bags.

Used their click and collect service but when my wife went to collect my things 12 hours later, they told her she would need to return the NEXT day to get them, I rang customer service who then rang the actual store and then the store blamed my wife for not having the correct credit card-they never even asked her for the credit card! I ended up making another special journey to the store who then told me the same thing about the credit card-this is the worst service I have received in 25 years of using Screwfix. Maybe time to start using one of their competitors.

THANKYOU SCREWFIX FOR A SHEER WASTE OF MY TIME !! Purchased a Makita DCL 180Z 18V Li-lon LXT Cordless vacuum cleaner £35.00 Got it home to discover it did not include a battery. If I wanted to include the battery in order for it to actually function, I would have to spend an extra £79.00. It does not clearly state on the box that it does not come with a battery. So, it's like buying a car to discover that it does not include the engine. I took it back and got a refund. What a sheer waste of time.

Just tried to return an item I bought from Screwfix. Admittedly it was over the 30 day period, however, it was in top condition and these things don't really go off, do they. I wasn't looking for a refund, just an exchange, however, both the Lady at the till and the manager were unable to help. I suppose it is not their fault this is company policy, however, as a regular customer I would have expected more. I guess I will be giving the competition more business in future...

Ordered taps on line (sat) and paid for delivery for monday before 6;30pm... NOTHING . Phoned and was told i couldn't cancel until they had been delivered , and that would be Tuesday, got a text from Parcel Force saying order would be delivered today (Tuesday) NOTHING Phoned again and was told I could have a £10 refund for any inconvenience, ( this hasn't stopped my leaking tap ) should have gone to B&Q instead. Lesson learned. so they have my taps and my money.... what they don't have is my future business

I purchased an ELECTRONIC FLY KILLER from Screwfix. It was faulty so I tried to return it to the store (the Long Eaton, Notts store) 3 days after purchasing it online. I was told they couldn't refund me for the product because it had been purchased online and was told to contact the manufacturer or customer services. The product was in a brand new boxed look condition and I had traveled 3 miles to their shop. I have spent thousands at this store over the last few years and if a product was faulty it would always be changed or refunded if needed at their store. Obviously their so called "GREAT"customer service is now on a different path, so please be wary. Even the male assistant that dealt with me, seemed to give out an attitude towards me. I'll think twice before purchasing from them again!

I purchased an item online, but due to a fault returned it to the Long Eaton store. I was told by them that they couldn't accept it because it had been purchased online and that I had to contact the manufacturer of the product. In the past I've had no trouble on returns to Screwfix, so it much be a change in their policy. I be very wary what I get from them in the future!

I ordered a set of Bosch drills through Click and Collect and paid online. I had a message at 9 am this morning to say the drill set was in. I had a phone call at 9.10 to say it wasn't in and would not be available, to get my money refunded I had to phone Screwfix Customer Services. She gave me the wrong number. Why did I have to phone, it was their fault not mine. I phoned, the amount would be refunded within 5 days (why that long?) I then had another message at 9.30 to say my product was in and ready for collection. What a Mickey Mouse company, do yourself a favour and use Amazon and you won't get these problems.

Screwfix is by far is the worst retail company I ever dealt with, every time i order a product to be delivered to my address they always get it wrong, and they always have the same old excuses for their failure, I took a day off waited for the delivery nobody turn up and no phone call to apologize, next day the same, this happened 5 times with five different orders. when i called them they seem that they don't care, and they telling me that delivery has been rescheduled 3 days later without informing me. I will definitely avoid those cowboys in the future.

Lies built upon lies - First time customer - NEVER AGAIN I am urging you to avoid this company like the plague. I used them for the very first time yesterday. Went into the store to order tile cutters. I was told to pay and that they would arrive on Sunday (today). I asked them twice if they were arriving today and twice they said yes. The reason I sought this reassurance is that companies often lie about the arrival days of their products to induce you to buy them. This is what ScrewFix did to me. I phoned up and spoke to this horrifically rude man who acted as if Screwfix did not need customers. He insinuated that I knew that the product was arriving Monday - lies. I was told it was arriving on Sunday - I needed it on Sunday. I was then told that because it was ordered at 5.30pm, it would not have arrived until Monday. I asked why two assistants - a deputy manager and a shop assistant had not told me this. He said "mistakes can be made" - what by two people - one of whom is a manager? I then said I was going into a shop for a refund. He said they would not give me one until the product had arrived. So, I have no product - they have my money. I no longer want the product as I cannot deal with a company which lies - and they will not refund me. A very simple process. All they have to do is refund me and cancel off the order, but they refuse to do so. There is a very good reason why the reviews for this company are so low, not just on this site but on many other review sites. There are so many other companies to choose from - give this company a very wide berth. They treat customers as if they are expendable and maybe when they start to lose them, they will realise that they need a serious attitude transplant!
