“After failing to deliver my trolly jack I asked for a refund which I am told will take up to 7 working days once it has been authorized by a manager.
This company is quick to take your money but when they mess up are reluctant to give it back.
I paid though PayPal which takes no time to clear
They come across as a professional outfit but they are far from that when it comes to dealing with refunds
I will be taking this matter up with trading standards”
“WHAT A SHAMBLES OF A COMPANY !!
Refund agreed for non receipt of goods, email stating 5 - 7 days for cleared funds to hit my account, day 8 no refund called Abigail Hughes who apologised on behalf of SGS whist informing me that I would receive the cleared fund by 5pm - Yet again SGS failed to forefill there agreement.
Day 9 - again called to check what is going on and why such a simple process is taking longer than the time scale that they had told me, got put through to a jumped up arrogant manager who told me that he has now decided that he won’t be giving me the refund clearly agreed via email and that he thinks that it’s ok for customers to pay for goods that they never receive.
SORRY SGS BUT THIS MATTER IS NOT CLOSED AND WILL BE DELT WITH VIA TRADING STANDARDS AND THROUGH THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT.
DO NOT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY PURCHASING GOODS VIA THIS COMPANY AS YOU WILL BE SCAMMED OUT OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED CASH.
PLEASE CHECK OUT THERE REVIEWS ON GOOGLE WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THIS HAS HAPPERNED TO MULTIPLE CUSTOMERS, WHO HAVE BEEN LEFT IN A SIMILAR SITUATION WHICH I HOPE YOU DONT END UP BEEN VICTIM OF.”
“Took 1 week to despatch my order. When I complained to Sales, Nick tried to talk over me, which made my complaining more vigorous... While on hold, listened to their advert over and over again... absolutely APPALLING!!”
“Purchased two Milwaukee cordless tools from this terrible company two months ago and paid for a Saturday delivery as I work away all week. I am told they were delivered (on a Thursday) and I have been sent a picture of two boxes outside a random door with no house number on. They now say the “management team” are refusing to refund my money. AVOID THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PLAGUE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. I am now applying for a CCJ via the small claims procedure”
“I am over 75 years old and I have been buying online for many years and never come across such a terrible company as SGS-Engineering for there customer services manager. Yes many 5 star mainly for fast next day delivery, but when things go wrong, they do not deserve even 1 star. I am not rich and only on a state pension but after meeting a very poor family on holiday a few years ago I wanted to purchase a petrol strimmer for him so that he could earn a little money to feed his family. This man who lives overseas and has 4 young children and for so many reasons to list here, cannot find work and struggles to provide for his family like food clothing and even shelter. He could make a small income if he had a strimmer by cutting local peoples rough grass and shrubbery as he did once work as a gardener. I ordered a petrol strimmer from SGS and booked the shipping through a shipping company. I wanted to send it as it was delivered to me from SGS already boxed up. On delivery the driver from DHL pulled up at my front gates and left the box outside . I saw him from down my garden but he drove off before I could collect the box. I went to pick up the box but noticed it was very damaged and split open and when lifted the parts were hanging out. The strimmer parts were all over the place inside the box as though it had been thrown around or had been a returned item that someone had previously sent back. I contacted SGS straight away as in there terms and conditions it states that if the packaging is damaged you are to refuse to accept it. This was not an option owing to the currant distancing and did not get the chance to speak to the driver. I phoned SGS customer services and told them I wanted a replacement sent out as I wanted to ship it to another country and that I had booked and paid a shipping company to send it. I told them I could not send it as the box was broken and there was a strong chance that the strimmer could be faulty or parts missing because of the condition I received it in. I was asked to send photos to them which I did straight away and told them I could not send it all the way to another country only to find it was damaged. I received a reply from the manager telling me that it looked like it was only the box broken and everything inside looked OK and told me to tape it up and send it and he hopes my friend likes his gift. My wife and I were really shocked at his reply so we phoned him and had a heated conversation trying to get him to understand how risky it was to send this as it was, but he would not agree to exchange it. He eventually agreed for me to return it for a refund but I had to pay £23 for the return which he will not refund me. I have not had such appalling service from anyone else in all the years of buying online and we had wait a while and to phone a couple of times to get my refund. We are very upset about this and we have to order one from elsewhere and re-book another shipping date. I would never recommend such an appalling company as SGS-Engineering.”
“Absolute joke of a company!!! Compressor went down after less than a month of very light use. Been trying to get fixed for nearly 2month and there after sales is non existent and when you do get through there full of empty promises.”
“Ordered a 12t press, which was delivered late. Found one of the feet to be wrongly drilled, so couldn't build it. Contacted sgs who said they'd send me a new one which never arrived. Very little communication from them for over 2 months, so gave up and got the foot made. Very poor customers service.”
“Great company to deal with, fast dispatch, and delivery. I would recommend SGS as company, great quality, and keenly priced. Very happy to deal with SGS.”
“One of the worst after sales experiences ive ever had. I bought a Hyundai generator 18 months ago from SGS for £700, because I wanted a reliable product from a reputable dealer... and its been a disaster.
When it first arrived the battery was flat so i started it using the hand pull starter, after which the battery seemed ok. I hatdly used the generator for a few months at which point the battery was completely dead. I contacted SGS who told me to contact Hyundai as they handle the warranty. Hyundai (genpower)told me that there was only 30 days warranty on the battery and offered to sell me a replacement for £70.
I went online and found a motorcycle battery for £17. The £17 battery has a 2 year warranty. The replacement £17 battery was 1cm wider so it was hard to fit but i managed.
Then a year later and i am using the generator daily for an hour or two and it stops dead.
After 2 weeks calling and emailing SGS and Genpower i have finally been told today that the 3 year warranty as advertised is actually a 1 year warranty with 2 years faulty parts only. I have to check the smalk print 9n the Genpower website, not on the SGS website, where it states "3 year warranty "So i am responsible for shipping and labour costs.
They haven't even made the effort to help me diagnose the problem for myself so i can can get it going again.”
“Very poor customer service
I ordered a trolley jack and basically it took them 10 days to get me one as the first one they sent was faulty and leaking oil
Despite me sending detailed pics of the faulty parts they tried to fob me off with a bottle of oil...
So long story short, lots of time wasted and lots of aggravation and disappointment from using this company
I have yet to use the replacement jack yet as I had to carry out the tasks with my old jacks
Unless the product is far superior to others I would never use this company again due to their poor service
10 days to get a trolley jack... Amazon deliver next day, so why did this take longer than say 3 days with them sending me a faulty one first?”
“Bought a tool box from SGS and the quality is unbelievably good cannot believe They can make such a high quality product for the price they charge . Would happily pay twice their asking price because it is really very well made. James.”
“Purchased a 5 in 1 Multitool online. Delivered as promised next day. Looks like a solid quality piece of kit. Took a while to set up all the different tools ready to use. Instruction manual was a bit confusing setting up the pruner chain and resorted to calling SGS Helpdesk who were very good. Then found the "How to" section on the website which is brilliant and walks you through the full set up of all the tools with clear colour photographs. Engine started first time. So far used the pruner to trim off some tree branches and also the strimmer. Gloves, goggles and safety harness was also provided. The harness was a bit baffling as I had no idea how it worked! Again the "How to" section on the website revealed all and quite straightforward. Quality product for the money.”
“Payed £806 for a generator that subsequently failed.
Was accused of overloading it by charging 1200watts of battery bank through an inverter ,and still 8 days after reporting this nothing.
Just broken promises and excuses .
Disgusted upset.
Great at taking your money
Abysmal at after sales care
Avoid if you are unsure got to a reliable aftercare specialist”
“SGS Engineering UK Ltd: New Order # 100484206
Ordered placed on Sunday 19th of April 2020 for a motorcycle lift.
***I did not pay extra for next day delivery because I was told it will be delivered by the end of the week 3-5 working days from Monday being processed***
Monday 20th of April 2020 contacted SGS customer services to ensure the order was received and being dispatched. Was advised by the staff member that everything was in order and item was in stock (even stated on website) and courier will contact me directly to arrange delivery which will be with me by Friday 24 of April 2020 at the latest. Despite me querying 3-5 working days. (Even provided and updated telephone number and offered to pay extra for delivery but was not needed).
Tuesday 21st of April 2020 contacted SGS customer services to liaise if item has been collected by courier and was advised this will be seen to today. Yet courier will be in contact with me directly to arrange delivery.
Wednesday 22nd of April 2020 contacted customer services to liaise no phone call from courier and it's been 3 working days. Is this motorcycle lift going to be delivered by Friday 24th of April 2020?.
Was advised by customer service that the motorcycle lift should not of been on sale as it was listed as a test on the website despite it being in stock we are currently testing the item.
In response I advised how can such an item be placed on sale on the website if it's currently being tested.
Surely you would test the item and if it passed then you would place it for sale. (At this point trading standards came to mind)
However I explained that I absolutely appreciate that safety is paramount but I have purchased this item due my arthritis and I have arranged for friends/family to assist with the move once delivered.
As well as having a few customers motorcycles that I am currently due to be working on and this lift was purchased to carry out the work. As you can understand the ripple effect this is going to cause me down the foot fall with customers.
Eventually I had to suggest surely out of good will of gesture a partial refund or even a next day delivery to be offered for the hassle of disruption after all this lays with SGS and not a me as loyal customer. Despite purchasing items from this company before i.e compressor/generator never received a problem. (Feel free to search me up SGS purchased via eBay and direct)
Nevertheless I was advised that the message has been passed onto the manager and that I shall receive a phone call.
Thursday 23rd of April 2020 no phone called received. Despite my efforts of reaching out I don't particularly like being on hold for more then 25 minuets. After all am the poor soul who's been chasing this up when it should be the other way around. Not like am be paid to do your job for you right?
As the saying goes "Quick to take your money but..." So as it stands £337.90 short out of my hard earned cash. As we can all understand with the current climate every penny counts to get by in this day and age let alone loss of a customer trust and confidence.
Finaly get through and was told that we've loaded the van up and it will be with you by Friday 24th of April 2020. Thank God for that.
I thought the happy ending would end there well sadly enough it didn't and Friday 24th of April 2020... Phone call from SGS (absolutely shocked as they actually know what a phone is and how to use one) sorry can't deliver the lift will be here on Monday 27th of April 2020.
To be fair the gentleman I spoke to was quite open and honest. Soppose you have to be when you the bearer of bad news. Yet the moral of the story was principle 3 different stories from a few different people and not everyone was singing of the same Hyme sheet.
So after waiting for an item that's still yet to be received and no phone call from management or courier. Despite me even offering to pick it up at cost or no cost. Despite my call on Monday with the initial call for the clarification of the delivery being delivered on Friday.
So my order is now cancelled and awaiting my refund. Let's see how long I'll have to await for that to be processed.
I can't be bothered by the enlightened explanation from SGS chapter 1 no delivery and verse 2 no phone call excuses from there 2020 edition excuse book.
If you can't return my phone call please don't respond to this review SGS. If you have time to respond to this review then it's ironic how you can't simply just pick up the phone and call me instead?. Or better yet deliver the item when promised instead!
P.s No I will not be calling you instead I'll be having to chase my money back from PayPal and filing a complaint to trading standards as am sure under the sales of good act your pretty much failed on that to.
Also I'll be passing on my personal experience to all my racing buddies/ social media as am sure they would love to know about the rigmarole.
