“Had an eye test done in Carmarthen branch by a worker this Monday afternoon.
She, the optician, must have worked on a factory production line in a past life because the 'end game' was all to her. I struggled seeing the lines/ letters on the screen and told her I was guessing and couldn't see them well. She second guessed me and said, "well you can see them can't you because you are reading them." At the end I received a buyers remorse pep talk about the wonders of their technology showing me that I haven't got such & such disease etc. As she supposedly showed me this wonder on her screen, she was speaking so fast that I'd missed my cue to turn from the screen in front of me and look with her at her computer screen.
I have so little confidence in her professionalism that I felt the need to book another eye-test somewhere else. My friend suggested I go to Specsavers. His positive experience was with an older optician who happened have spoken Welsh.
As I waited to pay, a worker said to the person taking my money "you've a lot on today" She said looking a couple of forms in front of her " Yes I have to clear the bask here" He said, "Yes you've got got to clear the basket".
Won't be going back there ever. It was like a first year university common room or a 6 form.”
“We’ve been served by a very friendly man called Luke Summers. He was very nice and welcoming and explained everything we need to know about my daughter short sighted. We had a great experience.”
“If I could give 0 stars, I would.
They cancelled my appointment at the close of business the evening before my appointment first thing next morning, no explanation, not even an apology.
I left a review on another site and was asked to contact them on X, or Facebook ,which I did, I gave the relevant information that they might need on the X platform and I’ve heard nothing since.
Avoid at all costs!!”
“Booked an appointment for Home visit month in advance. On the day of the appointment, I called them, as the time had passed for the appointment. 1 hour later having called them they told me the car had broke down on the way to my home. I asked could I have not been informed, they told me the optitian had not got his phone on him😖, needless to say they offered me another appt in a months time, I declined. Home Visit not efficient service and found to be inadequate. The advert they put out 'should of gone to specsavers' recommended boots or local opticians.”
“I had a terrible experience at specsavers sydenham....I arrived at my appointment at 10.30...and had repeated tests done over and over...the same tests..which quite frankly frightened the life out of me...I was there till 1.20pm...3hrs.....I was so stressed by the time I left the shop and had to lay down when I went home as I had a horrendous headache....I don't know why they kept repeating the same tests.....I will never go back there again after I pick my glasses up”

“I went into our local branch, Woodbridge, yesterday with my rimless glasses that had, after 2 years, broken. I was told initially that this couldn't be done . The manager ADAM, then stepped in and said it could be done, and after a little wait, he came back and had replaced the bridge for me which will certainly get me through until March when I am due a test.
I wanted this acknowledged because he went over and above for me to get this repaired and I was extremely grateful to him. He's a keeper for sure.
Thank you Mrs Lin Walker. Longstanding customer. Thanks Adam x”
“Beware, I had a full FREE NHS eye test with £5.00 paid for an additional health check. I then went and picked a new gold frame for my new glasses. Two weeks later I went to pick up my glasses to discover they had made them up in a totally different frame to the one I'd decided to have, don't worry I was told we'll make another pair up for you. Again two weeks later I went to pick them up, to find the right eye was blurred. I was immediately given a full refund by a company supervisor less the £5.00 paid for the health check and a copy of my eye test. I then left the store a little disgruntled.
After a short time I booked another eye test with another company which I had to pay for as I'd already had my FREE NHS eye test at SpecSavers, I was staggered to be told the 1st eye test was incorrect and the distance lens prescribed for me was too strong and the reason my vision was blurred using the new glasses, the optician then told me he wouldn't be charging for the 2nd eye test as he could use a FREE NHS test as the 1st eye test was incorrect for my eye needs. What a shambles SpecSavers are. I'll never go back to them, so BEWARE people.”
“What I realised when I went to Specsavers store is that you'll have great service if you're buying something from them but when you want something free or fix something there service was terrible the staffs in the store just keep on saying " sorry for keeping you waiting " and then we waited to get my glasses fixed for about 20 minutes and they was plenty of staff around but didn't help us so we had to walk out as we we're getting mad but while we were walking out the staffs were just standing there doing absolutely nothing so only go to Specsavers if you want to buy something because you'll get sh*t service if you want something fixed or anything free.”
“I had a contact lens appointment at Uxbridge about a month ago came in and was sent away with a trial pack and they made me a appointment a week later to come back with a pair in for final assessment! Went to the appointment with my last pair in as you only get five pairs! When I got there they didn’t know anything of my appointment and said they couldn’t do anything! So rung up next day and explained this and they said we will have to order you another trial pack by express delivery! Well over a week later I still haven’t got my trial pack so I can go in and be signed off with my prescription! I have rung about 4 times and every time someone said there ring me back in which no one did ! The staff there are very unprofessional and they really don’t care and they are so unhelpful! I just want to get my prescription and I will order them from elsewhere! Specsavers in Uxbridge are totally shocking customer service”
“Bought my first pair of varifocals from Specsavers and paid close to £300 for them along with prescription sunglasses. I have been a customer with them for almost 20 years but on my last visit I felt there was a lot of upselling whether it was additional testing or products. It took 10 days for my glasses to be ready to pick up and straight away they didn’t feel right. The assistant assured me it would be because of the change of lenses and to give it a few weeks for my eyes to adapt. 6 weeks later I cannot read with them or use my computer. I had a H&S assessment completed at work to make sure everything was ok but I still couldn’t see the screen properly and after wearing them for more than 5 mins I was getting pains in the right side of my head/face. Popped into Specsavers today as I feel 6 weeks is long enough to make an informed decision and could not believe the poor customer service I received. The girl asked me if these were new glasses - I said yes and you should be able to see that from my record. She asked if these lenses had been removed and new ones fitted - I could not believe what I was hearing. Twice she went off to check I had the right prescription- which it was. Then she re-measured the frames on my face and couldn’t find anything wrong. She told me I might not be moving my head enough with them or my computer is in the wrong position. Highlighted again that I had an OHS assessment completed last week and everything is fine and I told her that I do move my head - you have to with varifocals!!! Said to her that I just wanted normal lenses and I will deal with the distance issue and she said she would need to charge me £90 for new glasses. I asked why and she said moving to an intermediate lense with the anti glare coating was £90 and I would need 3 pairs to replace the varifocals. Told her that this was ridiculous and I wanted my money back and I wouldn’t be paying for anything. Did get my refund but what concerns me is they were not prepared to retest my eyes to see if these optician had made a mistake and would have charged me an extra £270 for glasses when their specs were not fit for purpose. Avoid at all costs. Go to an independent and give them your money rather than this rip off mob.”
“I purchased glasses a few months ago and Marci assisted me through the whole process. I was very pleased with the service and products. Will definitely be back again after my cataract surgery for a few new pairs of glasses.”
“The sight in my left eye had deteriorated to i went to Specsavers in Bromsgrove. I told the Optometrist that my left eye was very clouded, i explained i had had contracts removed in both eyes 18 months before 'under Alcester Specsavers. I had eye tests (even paid for the enhanced test). I was told everything was fine and i was sold glasses, 2 pairs for £90.00!! until i got to checkout and told with the lenses they had recommended the cost would be £452 "shocked or what" I settled on one pair costing £293. When my glasses arrived i tried them on but couldn't see, i was told to wait a couple of weeks and see how things go. Two weeks later, no change, so i went to another opticians for a re-test, only to be told i should never had been sold glasses as i required YAG Laser treatment, as a membrane had grown under the new lenses in my left eye (common after Cataract surgery) I complained to Specsavers and got my money back. Yesterday i had YAG Laser treatment and my vision is so crisp and clear. Shame on you Specsavers how many old people would excepted the situation and not complain. Disgraceful”
“I booked an appointment online for an eye test. My appointment was on Tuesday the 15th, the staff at Bethal mall were amazing. We had issues with my medical aid, they searched, made calls until I got assisted. Sonto Xaba the optometrist is awesome together with the 2 ladies at the front desk. My glasses came back Yesterday and I'm super happy
I now see very clear, red is so beautiful I don't even know the last time I saw it that way 🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️”
“I went to Bethnal green specsavers on the 11. 10. 24 & I was seen by Samit, I have suffered with bliphrightas for many year. Samit took the time to explain how to manage my problem & this has helped me so much, I haven got that regular gritty feeling. I just thought I needed to say thank you so much my eyes have never felt better. Thank you Samit x”
