“Really bad customer service, tried to ask them about my Hackett glassed where the welding had broken and therefore the lense had popped out, they refused to help and advised that the glasses were out of warrenty and they could not offer to sell me a frame as the deal was frame and lenses... Upselling which is illegal. Total rubbish, never see my customs again. Prior to this I also had a lense problem where they told me it was acceptable to be out by +-0.5 therefore I had to get my local optician to put propper lenses in my other glasses.”
“Annoyed S Choudhury @ Specsavers Boscombe said I could not have proof of my new glasses being needed for VDU use; her reason being that they are for concentration and VDU, how do you not concentrate when using VDU and if VDU comes under use why can I not get proof?
So many hidden charges also shocked me and the amount of people in the building during this virus risk time.
All other staff were helpful though.
Also on my first visit I could not see the field test but had mentioned S Choudhury had told me to where my glasses, still they told me to take my glasses off; result I could not see the test. I have been going to this branch for years, but I shall not in future unless they provide me with the proof of VDU use.”
“Very poor quality glasses, paid £200 glasses broken just before lock down already taken one pair back, my glasses are just over a 12 months but 8 months old when broken staff very rude at the Hanley branch, saying that it was wear and tear and unwilling to changed the frames trying to charge me £45 which is a joke when you already paid £200 for the which don’t last a year I’ve worn glasses for 20 years and never had any so poorly made will never return to specsavers”
“Had an eye test last July, paid well over£400 for them, happy with my choice although on second”free pair” the lenses seemed stronger but haven’t worn those much. There was a quibble with the manager at the time as my husband also got new specs(again at £400plus) they insisted he had to pay an extra £5 because he asked for a different case. However the black coating on my Balmain frames started to flake off this April, I couldn’t get into the shop because of COVID and the branch was closed anyway, today, 17th July I went back, a member of staff looked at my frames and said it looked like normal wear and tear and would speak to the manager, she came back and said they were out of warranty so all they could do was offer me a golden ticket for a half price new pair as these were now obsolete! How can that be right, surely the goods aren’t of merchantable quality if they don’t last the 2 years to my next eye test. Walked out in disgust, never going back there again, neither is my husband, Mother, Son or Daughter. Non existent customer service, a charmless enterprise.”
“I have been taking my children here for along time and on a whole, they have been great, we missed appointments due to pandemic and the manager was so awful, I am in shock about the way he spoke to us, after informing him about my son being disabled, and we have had to shield, he said i was emotionally blackmailing him! I am disgusted, upset and was told to go elsewhere. Horrible man. John Mulsworth!”
“Since yesterday I tried to book an eye test appointment. The website didn't work (tried a few times), few times I rang the shop and when finally was able to talk to somebody, the call has been disconnected.
Well Specsavers - you just lost a customer.”
“Avoid!! Bad customer service, wrong prescription, couldn't see out of glasses, have tried specsavers 3 times over the years, has not improved in that time, bad quality frames, and eye tests not done correctly.”
“2 for 1 My Arse - What a Rip Off!!
Went into Winton branch for pair of reasonably priced readers, I’d seen a nice pair online so knew exactly what I was looking for. Following an eye test was advised my lens would not fit those frames and directed to frames that were suitable, albeit a lot more expensive. Reluctantly settled on a £99 pair, however, during the fitting stage was advised there would be a £75 charge for grinding the lens to fit the frame, this after I’d been told (and sold) the necessary frames! When I queried this the assistant dropped it to £45. Told him I didn’t have that sort of money to spend on glasses and didn’t want to proceed.
He then agreed to drop the The charge (Remember that next you buy glasses) When asked about the free second pair I was told this did not apply as they’d waived the grinding fees! I pointed out their was a 2for1 deal on single lens glasses, which is what I was purchasing. They wouldn’t have it so thought I’d write a shitty review to warn potential customers. Incidentally I did hear another customer being charged £250 for 2 pairs of glasses ...£80 above their £169 most expensive frames!
So
CAVEAT EMPTOR!”
“Poor quality products. Not value for money as frames do not last. Specsavers then want to charge to replace frames even though its manufacturer fault. Quality has always been suspect but previously problems were rectified. But now the staff are very unhelpful and some are rude. Head office not interested. Branches are franchised so were told nothing to do with Specsavers head office. Have used many times in the past but something has changed. Will never use again.”
“I had early morning appointment ,the doors where locked the look on all the staffs faces was the look of horror that a customer was at their door when the doors were opened a hand was shoved out for me to move away then in a rude manner I was told STAND OVER THERE
Its pathetic the way the staff behaved Get a grip no one is dying there is no ambulances rushing supposed contaminated people to the hospitals because the hospitals are practically empty there are no coffins laying on pavements and people are shoulder to shoulder plus speck saver staff had masks on one minute and the next minute were removing then so the could breath don't you know that wearing masks make you breath in your own c02 makes breathing a lot harder disrupts hearing because you have to talk a lot harder and putting a mask on then talking it of to eat is silly if you think your protected from a fake pandemic its all about control of the so called herd bringing in the new world order bringing in AI bringing in the digital dollar and 5G because humans are controlled by frequency do not let yourself be controlled don't be scared and live your life the way that's the best life for you”
“Great got a new pair of glasses normally use store optical but they have closed down so tried Specsavers Kirkby In Liverpool ... my old opticians charged me £300 and Specsavers Kirkby only charged me 105 for the exact same frame and lens”
“Went to spec savers in Morrisons Lincoln been having trouble with my glasses not fitting right, then after the third time of going back jack said this is not right, let’s start again felt really relaxed picked what I wanted got the glasses I want and they are even going to post them to me. Thank you jack”
“My wife and I got new glasses last summer ... hers were bifocal so cost a bit .. few hundred .... they finally gave up the ghost last month after about 9 months ... given my experience too .... see below ... she went to vision express ... turns out ... as she thought ... the prescription was wrong ... new glasses from vision express about £100 less and perfect vision now .... me ... I have single vision lenses .. so 2 for 1 offer ... first pair fell apart after 2 months (not the screw) normal wear ... finally fell apart about 3 months ago ... so using my second pair ... they fell apart tonight ... again not the screws ... just turned to my wife to speak ... arm fell off ! Again ... normal wear .... I also feel the prescription is wrong ... will look for my money back ... yea right !.... but definitely not going there again .... at the time we thought the examination seemed not right ... well looks like we were right then ! ... so angry ... a lot of money wasted”
“Prescribed distance glasses could not see out of my new glasses,so went somewhere else.Terrible service and would not offer me another eye test and
i kept saying the glasses were not right.had no choice but to go somewhere else and I'm so glad I did. They didn't want to refund me I had to keep asking for my money back.wont be going to Specsavers again”
“I have successfully managed to sort a product order and I have thanked the online support as well the sort Team leader for coordinating so professionally as I had some urgent problem and they helped me to fix it. It was concern issue as that was an obstacle for work, moving safely and I thank the Edgware Road team, and chat with us option for finally delivering the product with success!”
“I purchased lenses over the phone on friday 12 june 2020 and had to wait for weeks in the pandemia context before getting an answer !Everytime I called the store nobody was answering the call and I never get my product on time! I had to cancel work plans and it has had a negative impact in my schedules and on my income as I had many business customers not happy as I could not respond to their call due to the absence of lenses! I did not have a good experience with Edgware road store and the service was much better in Lewisham store where I had the lenses immediately after payment!!”
“5 weeks ago I was in need of having glasses repaired, unfortunately due to Covid-19 i was unable to, 3 weeks later I was allowed an eye test no problem even though we were in covid-19 lockdown, and they were happy to receive £320, although the lady wasn't helpful the gentleman was, I was told they would be ready in 2 weeks due to covid-19, Monday 8th June I received a text message saying to call for an appointment to have my glasses fitted.
I made the appointment for today Friday 12th, knocked the door and was greeted by a fully masked PPE young lady who asked my name, locked the door & came back with a bag with my glasses in, I asked why they weren't being fitted and quess what I was told due to covid-19 they are not fitting.
I fully understand covid-19 i work for the NHS, but surely after receiving your money they can fit your glasses, i have come home and they are too big, called up and I have to wait for an appointment approx 2 weeks.
Disgusting and after many years going to specsavers will be the last.”
