“First time I ever need glasses.
I attended Brunswick SC Specsavers and paid for a OCT scan on the 9 May (6 weeks ago) and I still don't have the results yet. I have been to the shop 2 more times and nobody really help handing my scan results which I paid for.
I have given my email address 3 times and nobody replies.
The Lady who serviced me charged me £35 for a UC Superclean service which I didn't request nor she offered. When I paid and got my receipt I asked about the charged she said it was my prescription glasses which ended being a lie, I was scammed literally.
I want my £45 pounds back now.”
“I had a problem with my eyes and I went to my local opticians in Hemel Hempstead Specsavers. They were very accommodating and helped me with my problem, which I was very concerned about. They took great care of me and I was really pleased! The people at this store are lovely, very good at there jobs and deserve a pat on the back.”
“I have been a customer a Specsavers Oxford since 2019. This evening, I went in to order contact lenses, only to be told that they could not take the order because it was 2 years since my last eye test. They're my eyes and I know I do not need a new prescription!! I told the man who "helped" me because I only had one pair left at home. He was totally unwilling to make a plan. "The rules are the rules according to him" and Specsavers have one less customer. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!! Their understanding of customer service is appalling!!!”
“I bought a set JCB varifocals safety glass for work that were 370 pounds and three weeks old the left lens started go milky and the +015 marking is both lens stared to become more and more when I returned the specsavers Poole I was not made very welcome at No point was I asked my name she took the glasses cleaned and was off to the back when she returned I was the numbers in the lens are manufacturers marking and that I had ruined the lens on the left when cleaning my glasses the only help specsavers had to offer was I buy a new set of lens at my cost. I declined the offer and walked out. Since and a new eye test and only need single vision glasses and I am well with in the legal driving range without glasses and will receive my new safety glass in a couple of days I feel like I have been taken for an absolute ride”
“First time I use this shop. I paid for a scan one month ago and I have not my results yet (they were supposed to be ready in one week). I have given my email twice but they are incompetent enough not to send the info.
They are scammers and charged me £35 for a service I didn't request telling me is the "lens graduation". It turned to be something for kids UC.”
“Should NOT have gone to Specsavers! After being advised by two professionals to get an urgent appointment I tried to contact my optician (Newcastle-u-Lyme) but to no avail. I decided to go in person and was abruptly told there were none and they no longer offer a triage service - they told me to go to Boots! I was also told I should have called, and when I showed proof of 35 attempts, they did not want to know. Boots hadn’t any appointments available, but went out if there way to find an optician in the near vicinity. So thank you to Boots! I certainly won’t be going to Specsavers again!”
“Rechargeable Hearing aids cost me nearly £2000 a pair. One failed a few weeks after fitting. At the time they had ordered some replacements in a different colour so I had replacement aids immediately. Now, a few months later one aid died when I removed it from the overnight charge. I contacted the department by email with no response, so I travelled into Brighton to hopefully get the aid repaired. I was told to leave then and come back later so I returned about 3 hours later to be told that they had not been looked at. I had to leave them with the department. I was telephoned later to be told that they had to be sent back for repair and would not be returned before 2 weeks. Fortunately I still have my NHS pair, but the service is appalling. Spare aids should be kept in stock so that if a catastrophic failure does occur a replacement one can be programmed very quickly. Specsavers value of service is abysmal. Very angry. I would not recommend Specsavers to anyone.”
“Stockport Specsavers
Stockport Specsavers. I have been a customer here for 5 years and I have always found the staff to be outstanding in all aspects of customer care. I am a 60 year older partially sighted man who would highly recommend this opticians. I see Francis and her care and attention to detail is incredible for such a busy lady. Thank you”
“DON’T GO TO SPECSAVERS!! I bought variefocal glasses from Windsor Specsavers 15 months ago, cost over £200, today arm broke off, My wife took them back and was told they were irrepairable and we’d have to buy new frames and of course new lenses as the present lens wouldn’t fit. The lady who delivered these glad tidings apparently didn’t even bother to leave her desk (empty shop so not under pressure) and appeared pretty disinterested, said it was the manufacturers’ fault - why are they using shoddy manufacturers? I see that Specsavers has a 2.19 rating out of 5, that says it all. I’m seething, sadly I doubt they’ll be bothered, plenty more innocent customers out there.”
“My experience is with the Coventry Domiciliary branch of Specsavers. I arranged a home eye test with them back in February. The optician who came out was very good, as was the lady who helped me choose my glasses and that's the only reason I've given them one star! I purchased two pairs of glasses which cost me £400.
When the glasses arrived, they both needed adjustments so I contacted Specsavers to arrange for someone to come out and do this. They are SO difficult to get hold of - it's very rare that someone actually answers the phone so you have to leave a message and wait for them to get back to you. They were quick enough to do this when I was a new customer who would be spending money but they have no concept of after care or customer service at all when that money has been spent. Someone did eventually come out to me - about 3 weeks after I made the initial call. My sunglasses were easily adjusted but the other pair had to be sent away to be changed. I was told they would be marked as urgent but it took several weeks and many phone calls from me before I got them back. After 3 weeks, the new glasses were proving so uncomfortable I had to make another call to Specsavers only to be told that the person who does adjustments only goes out once a week and it would depend when they were next in my area when I would actually see them. Two weeks on I'm still waiting with glasses that make me sore. Today, fed up of waiting, I rang Specsavers again and asked to speak to the Manager. I was told they would ring me back but, surprise, surprise they haven't! If I had my time again I'd avoid Specsavers completely.”
“Went to Specsavers Middlebrook . Bolton today the Optometrist Trina was absolutely excellent . Explained everything I needed to know about my cataracts. Thank you for good service”
“Its high time that opticians and opthalmology were completely separated from the high street business of retail sales of fashion glasses.
The Opticians should bill customers for the eye test and then by law provide them with the full prescription. Where the customer chooses to buy glasses that fit the prescription should be of no concern or Interest to the Opticians.
The existing system is nothing more than a high pressure hard sell conflict of interest.
As a result many people are put off having regular eye test because of the hard sell tactics to force them to buy expensive spectacles on the spot.
Specsavers in my opinion and from my experience are the worst of the bunch. They have high school children doing the eye tests to a formulaic process. You will be lucky if you even see a qualified opthalmologist.
They move the customer like cattle through a process which ends up at the retail dales till where the customer must then suffer the hard sell tactics which is is not dissimilar to that of buying a timeshare.
This is highly inappropriate in the health industry and the government needs to drastically reform this industry.”
“Worst Experience and Very Rude Customer Service from Jessica ilford branch. We pop down to collect our 2 pairs of designer glasses, to our surprise it was handed over in a ordinary case. We ask for our designer cases which then was brought over to us. Glasses were handed to us without any sort of formal presentation of the glasses nor was asked to try and check. Upon checking the glasses, both had couple of plastics stickers between the frame and lenses. When this was brought to the staff attention, they just pop the lenses and took the plastic off with their nails in front of us then handed back to us and we done this over and over again 4 times as they could not be bother to check the glasses nicely. After the fourth times, we showed them that there is still stickers on the side and with much anger the staff pop the lenses and cracked the frame in front of us and handed us the glasses. Upon refused to have the glasses in such a state and with such rude behaviour from the staff, I was told if I don’t want it then get a refund. I am diabetic and needed these glasses for work purposes and waited over 2 weeks and they were careless. The Manager came and made a complaint straight away but he says the staff were doing it the right way with their nail and pop the lenses in front of us rudely and this is specsavers way of taking plastic bits in between frame and lenses. They kept both glasses and we left very disappointed and the Manager ask us to come next day for the refund and did not even cared to ask us if we needed a replacement and not even an apology were given by the staff and the Manager. Stay Away from Ilford Branch Specsavers.”
“If it was possible to give zero stars I would! The worst experience ever! I’ll try and keep this review short but it’s going to hard, got my glasses and I couldn’t see out of one eye properly as it was blurry so I went back to SPECSAVERS and after waiting over half a hour they said could I not just put up with it !I was flabbergasted at this remark ,, and so they sent me to Bolton as they was saying they think I have characteristics! So I had to have a day off wrk and the results were NO I DIDNT HAVE CHARACTERISTICS! Also one of the lenses fell out of the frame (very cheaply made) witch they told to call at the store and they’d replace it for free,, well I should think so I’d only had them a couple of weeks, but when I got to the store it was a different story ,, they actually made me pay!!! My daughter went mad ! £25 to be exact, and I’d payed well over £200 for these rubbish glasses that were falling apart and that I couldn’t see out of! They then gave another pair of glasses that I still couldn’t see out of and they was all wonky not sitting right at all on my face ,, at this point I gave up ! I was sick to death of going back ,, also the store was always VERY BUSY ,, and at a glance and not noing nothing you’d atomically think “o this is a good shop for glasses it’s so busy”! But please don’t be fooled this store is so busy because of complaints! Asda pilsworth is a far better place top class glasses and so much cheaper,, a load of amateurs at SPECSAVERS,, stay away ! But if you want to waste your hard earned cash with something that will end up in your bin get down there ,, can’t stand to hear the name SPECSAVERS!!! Absolute joke !”
“I think Crawley Specsavers have sunk to a very low level, on Sunday 2nd May 2021 they telephoned a very frail 91 year old Lady and badgered her into making an appointment for an eye test just so that they could sell her spectacles ( she telephoned me with regard to this in a very distressed state) SPECSAVERS IF YOU ARE SO DESPERATE FOR BUSINESS THEN CHECK YOUR CLIENTS AGE FROM YOUR RECORDS, DON'T PHONE AT WEEKEND BETTER STILL LET YOUR PAST CLIENTS CONTACT YOU IF THEY REQUIRE AN EYE TEST. TRY PUTTING PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT”
“From all these reviews I must be lucky because the place I live near (Wythenshawe) has really good customer service but can get iffy when calling but apart from that Its good all around.”
