Be very careful when booking an appointment on line with spec savers. I booked an appointment for 21st October and it was accepted when I booked. Unknowingly I then received an email telling me my appointment was 4th November. Unaware of this I turned up for appointment on 21 October and told categorically and rudely that they sent an email with new appointment details and unless I could prove I had an appointment by email for the 21st they wouldn’t take me. Needless to say I won’t be going back to specsavers.

Bought a pair of glasses an year ago - £160 with a special deal applied (imagine how much without the deal). Three months ago the left screw came out, so they fixed it for me, replacing it with much different and much bigger one. It was alright for some time and then 1 week ago the frame snapped at the very same place. Now, if I was a careless person who keeps braking their glasses, I would understand but my glasses are in perfect condition- not one scratch on the lenses, not one dent on the frame. I usually wear a pair of glasses between 4 and 7 years, depending on the changes in my sight. The one in question, look like brand new (just an year old) and Yet they snapped twice in three months on very same place! This only speaks about the quality of Specsavers’ products (£89 frame). Rubbish! The lady in the Whitechapel office had a look at them and told me that they cannot be repaired. Therefore, I will HAVE to buy a new frame at half price. I wasn’t happy about it but what can I do. So she went on looking for the frame for some time and found out that this particular model has been discarded! I wasn’t happy about it but what can I do. So I said that any other frame that can fit will be alright at this point, because I cannot see very well through my old glasses. Then she said “Unfortunately, no other model will be the same, so we can’t replace the frame - you have to buy new glasses…” I was shocked. I said “Those glasses are only one year old and you are telling me that there are no spare frames?!?! And I have to buy new ones because you can not repair them either?” She said “Yes, I’m sorry.” I said “So basically you are forcing me to buy a new pair, twisting my arm!” She said “No, I’m sorry” I said “How can you discard a model, which was available an year ago, whiteout thinking of replacement?” She said “See, that’s not how it works here” A good business, one that cares about their customers, would have never discontinued a product without offering a suitable replacement. A good company, which has decided to discontinue irreplaceable products would have contacted everyone who has bought this product in the last few years, and let them know about it and maybe offered to sell them the spare parts (e.g. the frames) in case they need them in future… An even better company, would have kept some of those frames at the back just in case someone needs repair!!! But you know what Specsavers is not the only option in UK, so I will be buying my glasses elsewhere, and I will make sure that no one of my friends and family members ever goes there!

Spent an hour and twenty minutes there for a contact lens 'Teach' session. Of that, I spent 5-10 minutes with an optician who was clearly in a hurry. I was passed between 4 staff, all of whom promised to be with me in a minute and left me waiting around. They were supposed to be adjusting a pair of glasses I was picking up but I ran out of patience and didn't remind anyone about that because my parking ticket was running out and I couldn't waste any more time being passed from pillar to post. Aldershot branch. I'm changing opticians.

Edinburgh Shandwick Pl branch. Not customer friendly. Last 2 occasions I've been in. Once to ask about using old Spec Savers frames for new prescription. Another time with question about lense types. Been met with very curt concrete and almost robotic responses/replies. Don't know if it's down to staff training or what? But as a customer being treated as though you are a bit of a nuisance and your very standard questions are somehow undeserving of any considered reply - just weird frankly. Wont be using Specsavers again.

First time having glasses , they recommended the blue light filter at extra £35 so I paid collected my glasses, when I tried to use them the vision was blurry like I could see shadows if I was reading, so I took them back, they treated me like i was crazy and said there is nothing wrong with the glasses, to me there definitely was, so i asked them to remove the blue filter as the prescription was fine but the filter to me seemed to be put on incorrectly, so they removed the filter but dont want to refund my £35 so now I have to complain to whoever is next in charge to get my money. AM I WRONG???

Avoid Leicester and Oadby branch! Where do I start? In short, avoid Oadby branch in Leicester! It took the incompetent team more than 1 year (still not sorted) of trial and more errors during lockdown just to correct my vision with wrong glasses each time. I had to bounce back and forth from the untrained staff to the optician having been left with 3 pairs of glasses with none that help my vision. Everytime I told them my vision/glasses was not right, I was fobbed off with some jargon or 'waffle' to end up with a more expensive option each visit. Young staff they hire are not trained well or learn on the job so they don't know what they are doing or selling. I had been told I had wrong prescription from another Specsavers and was charged again for another eye test with additional charge of OCT scan slipped in yet again, vision still not sorted. Varifocals recommended were wrong, single vision wrong now left with not knowing what to do?

Been a Specsavers customer at least 15 years. Never again, the quality of both pairs (same) glasses was total garbage. Both pairs are literally falling apart (lenses falling out of mounts/nose pads disintegrating, one pair I lost the screw whilst lens dropped out and it's now zip tied🤦) after less than 10 months, they weren't cheap either (wide varifocals) If they see me again it will only be for an eye test. The staff were also extremely jumped up, however the actual optician was nice.

I have just been informed by Specsavers that my order for contact lenses, placed on 23 July, has been cancelled by Specsavers. Today is 8 October. This is appalling. These lenses were ordered almost 3 months ago. No explanation why it has been cancelled. No apology. What should I do? What can I do? I went to Specsavers for these lenses, in spite of having a very good choice of alternative suppliers, as I have always had excellent service – from audiology in Dunedin, and Specsavers UK. appalling service

Its a total scam that takes advantage… Its a total scam that takes advantage of the sick, aged and vulnerable. They offer FREE home visits for those on certain benefits and cannot get out/disabled etc. They take all you private and confidential data then hit you with a mumbled £25 charge claiming its for future expenses. You cough up or get lost. Its just another corporate scam. Reported to trading standards and will never be used again. Crooks

Absolutely terrible experience at bangor store. Walked into store, told to go back out as I didn't have appointment. Not allowed in unless you sanitise your hands (even with allergic reaction to alcohol rub). Made to feel like an absolute leper for just wanting to get an emergency pair of glasses. Then told no appointments for 4 months. I overheard one of the receptionists (aka self apointed security guards) tell an elderly lady in a wheelchair she had to move 1 meter to the side to actually be on the green dot "of safety" in a near empty store! Absolutely disgusting behaviour by people who have forgotten customer service to become shop bouncers! Avoid!

Ref: Slough High Street Branch. I had a contact lens appointment booked and confirmed for last Wednesday 22nd Sept at 110:00am I had a call from the store at 10:00am and told me that they have to cancel due to staff issues and told me to re-book so I booked for today Tues 28th Sept at 11:40am and got there to be told that they could not proceed as I need to re book again and have a normal eye test before the contact eye check , I was never told this before hand and told the staff there that was the case and could they see me now as from all the confirmations and phone call I was never advised, but they were totally rude and totally unhelpful I had to take time off work which I dont get paid for to try to get seen, who is going to pay for that..let alone wasting my time ..after 20 years going to Spec savers I'll have to reconsider myself, friends and family commitment with specsavers in the future!

Good rye slightest spoilt by very poor advice from dispensing St. Bought a pair of large lens glasses and was advised to pay an extra £55.0 for thinner lens. When they arrived they were like pebbles. I was then told it doesn't wfor long sight unless have them double thinned - yes you guessed it, more money. What a rip

Chelmsley Wood Birmingham When I went to have my glasses fitted which was good I decided to have a pair of sunglasses I asked the man fitting my glasses to show me the selection. I have had sunglasses off you before which was very good, and I know what I won’t (Polarised lens light tint 17% tint prescription lens.) The guy showed me some pairs and told me there were 3 tints in polarised lenes which I did not know, And at the moment there was a offer of FREE Polarised on lenses. I decided to try my new glasses for a few days before ordering a pair. I decided to go back Saturday morning because I was pleased with my new glasses on arrival I spoke to a male assistant and chose a pair of frames and told him I was offered Free polarised lenses on my last visit with a selection of tints. This turns out to be not true there was no offer of free polarised lenses OR offer of 3 tints He found out who the assistant was i spoke to and he Denied ever telling me this. the whole experience was very disappointing. I came out of the store with no sunglasses. Regards Mike Gummer

Failed to coat photochromatic. Glasses left for updated prescription; collected glasses did not have original feature. Not a happy bunny. Be back into Guildford store tomorrow with request for exorbitant refund.

I cancelled my eye test due to bad manners at the Ayr branch I asked if it was possible to measure a old spec savers titanium frame as it was not possible to read. My answer at the door was WE DONT HAVE A MEASURING TAPE & WHY DO YOU WANT TO MEASURE JUST GO HOME AND GET A INCH TAPE AND MEASURE IT YOURSELF that was on Sat 11/09 /2021 At the AYR Branch they should know the person with the bad manners I have been with spec savers for over 20 years but I think it’s time to move on
