“I attended Specksavers Cheetham Hill Fort shopping centre this afternoon.I was so impressed by the professionalism and helpfulness of all staff. I must add that both Matt and Muhammad were so attentive and gave good advice and made my visit a pleasant one. I left with the knowledge that my custom was appreciated and I will certainly recommend this team at the Fort branch Cheetham Hill”
“Will not say happy.
Disappointed actually.
Recent experience was too much technology.
Initially sat on chair which was too low to feel comfortable on.
Analytics are fine to some degree but my main question is:-
Why was I asked to pay £267 when, having been told my eyesight hadn't got worse that much ?
Why did the practioner who carried out the IT exam referred me to hospital?
Why did the salesperson quote a ridiculous price when I only needed lense replacements ?
Confusing and disappointing.
Feel that the emphasis is on hard sales targets somehow aiming towards private clients because of NHS crisis”
“As opticians, you imply that lens don't fit frames unless they are thinned at an extra £100. I currently have a pair with one lens fitting well and the other not without paying any extra for that one lens. ????”
“Had a lovely lady helping me choose my glasses, very friendly and helpful. When I went to collect my glasses it was a different lady, just felt she couldn’t be bothered. I think once they’ve got your money they lose interest. Also I wasn’t given all the information before buying which I found out afterwards. I don’t think i’ll use them again in the future.”
“Last year I purchased a pair of glasses from Specsavers. On having them fitted I was told they could not secure the lenses properly and they may fall out( what a joke) anyway I go to Portugal for 6 months and they did fall out and I had to pay for them to be put back in.
They then became unusable and had to wear my old glasses.
On visiting specsavers today I was told my glasses were not suitable for my lenses but not when I purchased them.
I asked if there is anything you can do as I need to buy a new pair of glasses. I was told they would have to speak to a manager. His reply was he could do nothing because it was beyond the 100 days guarantee. As I was in Portugal then there was no way I could fly back to have a replacement. So he did nothing, not even a gesture of good will. So I have had to pay top price for a new pair of glasses, for advice I should have been given on purchasing my glasses not when I returned with them.
So please make sure you don’t get ripped off as I have been.
Some things you can’t see even with glasses.”
“On my first appointment staff were welcoming and friendly. On my second visit to collect my glasses I realised that the wrong frames had been ordered. The correct frames were ordered and told be ready in three days. A week later I phoned for an update. I was promised a phone call back which took all day. Went in only to find the tint had not been added to the glasses. Now have to wait yet again before I get my glasses. On my last appt I was overdue by 15mins whilst the staff did admin work in full view of me. Not impressed.”
“The staff at Specsavers are fine. The online booking system is garbage. 1 of the questions does not fill your criteria? You will go round in circles endlessly. It is similar to many other systems. It does not take into account the slightly unusual. Not fit for purpose I would say. You need an appointment and have slightly different needs? Telephone.”
“Specsavers are ok, but not great.
I have 2 pairs of varifocal glasses from them - both the same prescription, but one with the base lens specification (cost £65 including the frame) and the other with their 'best' specification (Superdigital, 1.74, coatings, etc) at over £350.
There is absolutely no difference in vision between the 2 types of lenses.
I had no problems adapting quickly to the Specsavers varifocal lenses, but the quality is ok, not the best, but ok.
Next time, I will go to an independent optician for Zeiss lenses - they don't cost that much more but seem to be universally acknowledged by the profession as the best.”
“Went to order varifocals was charged a price which wasn't on the prive list they had given me, to be told after emailing a different shop that all the prices had gone up a couple of months ago. Was also charged for the highest price ones and was given no choice of others. How can you tell if the lower price ones aren't suitable if not given the option to try them.”
“Blind in one eye because I wasn't sent to eye clinic when I first had wet macular 2 years ago. It wasn't till I had the symptoms 2 years later that they managed to get me an appointment. Too late the eye was damaged. Warning if you have wet macular get an eye clinic appointment immediately it could save your eyes.”
“They didn't make me happy 😞 I made an appointment for eye sight test as i was having pain in my eye got told I needed an emergency trearge test but no test available at that particular shop told they would try another shop and get back to me failing that advised to go to walk-ins at hospital tat was over 24hrs ago and haven't heard anything back from them and I'm not sure if I want to go and spend 8 hrs plus waiting at the local hospital..”
“I serious complaint hello to make I visited specsavers on Tottenham coach road and they are very helpful and courteous but I am very offended by an experience I had recently and this is it I was being attended to by one of the customer rep there and while he was talking to me I noticed that he had sick mucus running down out of his nose I was a beaten barrister to tell him but I eventually did he went one-siding to the office got some tissue however when he returned to me shortly after I still notice thick mucus still running down out of his nose seek yellow mucus so I mildly told him but my concern he's how can such a person be dealing with the public this is atrocious and highly offensive to me I usually have good experience there I'm not talking about that but I am concerned about the hygiene how can someone with thick mucus running out of their nose be dealing with customize and even if they do he should have gone to the bathroom and thoroughly cleaned himself washe hiss hands and come back but it seems like he didn't really think anything was wrong because he came back with his nose still running see this could you please address this problem is very very upsetting and not hygienic I am appalled and shocked. To be truthful voice I was a bit embarrassed to tell him a third time but perhaps if I go back I am going to spell it out and say go to the bathroom and blow your nose properly and then come back because I don't really want to continue being served until this is done!”
“I was seen promptly on my arrival in the store in Hereford and my initial pressure test was performed professionally , however the ophthalmologist who conducted my sight test was very flippant and asked inappropriate questions and joked over inappropriate subjects and also discussed his personal health issues .
This was in no sense a professional eye examination .
I realise that this was an attempt to make conversation but this needs to be toned down so that it isn’t personal and patronizing .
The person who then dealt with my varifocal adjustments and measurements was a pleasure to interact with, very kind , caring and adhered to professional barriers .”
“Really disappointed, they refused to change the lenses in my own glasses, really unhelpful and only interested if your paying their prices for frames of which I could find nothing I liked. I won't go to specsavers again. I don't know why the word savers appears in the name as they don't seem to save anyone any money looking at most of these reviews.”
“Went to my pre-booked appointment at the Kingswood, Bristol shop today 22 December, to pick up glasses and get them checked for fitting. Told to sit at the desk and wait for service operative. Sat for around 15-20 minutes - no show although the shop was pretty empty and they served another customer for fitting who arrived long after me. Eventually tried on my glasses and felt they were ok and so I left handing in the plastic bag to the front desk. Girl said 'thank you' and I left puzzled at the lack of customer service. Texted them afterwards for comments - no reply. Mmmm!”
“The optometrist was very good and other staff very friendly but the glasses are not. I paid £450 for reading and long distance. I needed lightweight frames so had Titanium and thinner lenses which bumped up price. After quite a few visits and then a change of glasses I am still in a lot of discomfort behind ears and on nose. If I could just pop in and get adjustments done it would be simpler but told each time I had to make an appointment. Feel I'm on a losing battle.”
“Satisfactory experience at the Stanmore branch of this opticians on Church Road having my first eye test, although made to wait about half an hour longer than booked. Frame selections are okay, but a little more variety would be welcome! Staff service was fine but again could be bettered with a little more listening and understanding of customer needs.”

“Annoyed S Choudhury @ Specsavers Boscombe said I could not have proof of my new glasses being needed for VDU use; her reason being that they are for concentration and VDU, how do you not concentrate when using VDU and if VDU comes under use why can I not get proof?
So many hidden charges also shocked me and the amount of people in the building during this virus risk time.
All other staff were helpful though.
Also on my first visit I could not see the field test but had mentioned S Choudhury had told me to where my glasses, still they told me to take my glasses off; result I could not see the test. I have been going to this branch for years, but I shall not in future unless they provide me with the proof of VDU use.”
