Stay away from Surprice Car Rentals in Chania Airport, Greece!!! It turned for me to be a very big Surprise. ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ Those people are scammers. Here is the trick they are playing - First, they lure you on Internet with a low price. Once they pick you up from the Airport and bring you in their office to take your car, they do everything possible to try to sell you their super expensive wavers. In case you reject paying the waver, they try their last trick. They charge the deposit on your card. After the transaction goes trough, they tell you that your card is not a credit card but a debit one (even if your card is a credit one like in my case). The employee even called his supervisor (i think he pretended to do so) to ask wether he can accept a debit card. The answer was NO. As per their booking conditions, for them this is a breach and a good reason to transfer back your deposit, cancel your booking and leave you with no car. Then, after you realise what have just happened, they again try to explain you that, if you buy their super expensive waver then you can pay with your own card (once you pay the waver they automatically forget everything about card not being a credit one 😁). As a result you are left in their office, which normally is in the middle of nowhere far away form the airport, with no car, very disappointed and on your own with no transportation at all.

y friend and I picked up a car from Florence airport on Saturday October 12th. From the beginning, the interaction with the Surprice employee was not easy: the lady kept insisting that we MUST pay for insurance, even though we kept telling her that we already had insurance through the booking company. She kept pressing us, showing us the prices for the different levels of insurance (where even the lowest one would cost us more than triple the rental cost), insisting that we had to pay. After much discussion, she conceded that it was not strictly necessary to pay for this extra insurance, but that we were going to risk a lot. We finally managed to sign the contract and get the car keys, only paying the amount that we were told when we booked the car. However, we were lucky: the couple next to us had to pay more than 400€ insurance because they did not have an international driver's license. On Sunday October 13th we returned the car, and being now aware of the sketchy nature of this company, we knew we had to be careful. When we told the employee that we had to return the car, she gleefully said we could just leave the car keys and go, she would take care of everything herself. We said "no thank you, we want to check the car with you to make sure that everything is alright". She told us we would have to wait for her colleague to come back and check the car for us. We waited for at least 30 minutes (during which I read the reviews on this website and I grew warier and warier). When the colleague, Ulisse, arrived, he checked the car, took some pictures and checked that the gas tank was full. He filled a check-in form on his tablet, and asked us to sign it. I asked if everything was okay, and he said yes. When my friend went to sign the form, Ulisse had zoomed in on where she had to sign, thus not allowing us to see what the form said. I guess we should have asked to check the form, but since Ulisse had assured me more than once that everything was okay, I thought I could trust him. He said we would receive a copy of the form via email (which we didn't), and that the deposit would be returned after 20 days. Fast forward to today, Tuesday: my friend was just charged 22€ by Surprice. I called to ask for an explanation, and the employee told me that that was the cleaning fee. I said we were not informed that we had to clean the car, and that Ulisse had said that everything was okay. She said that the contract stated we had to clean the car before returning it. I asked her to send us the check-in form that we had not received yet, and said goodbye. I then reviewed the contract, which states "the client agrees to return the vehicle in the same conditions in which it was delivered, including cleaning, except for wear proportionate to the duration of the rental period and the mileage travelled". We used the car for less than 48 hours, driving on normal paved roads. Of course, cars get a bit dusty just by driving them around, which was exactly what happened with our car. I then checked the check-in form, and to my surprise it said that we had returned a dirty vehicle. Now, I cannot complain further with this company, as technically they are "right" because we signed the check-in document saying that the car was dirty, and therefore they can charge us the cleaning fee. But I asked Ulisse repeatedly whether everything was fine, he confirmed multiple times, and then proceeded to zoom in on the signature area so that we could not see what the form said. They might be right, but they definitely were not transparent nor fair. In the end, we did not lose much money, but that is only because we kept insisting with them (not to buy their insurance, to get our car checked, to receive a copy of the check-in form...). We definitely did not feel at ease, we felt like they were constantly trying to take advantage of us and that we had to be extra careful not to get scammed. All in all, don't use this company. Just pay a bit more for a more reputable company, and you will be able to enjoy your trip without having to worry about losing your money.

Only gave one star as this was the least I could give. Absolute rip off merchants. Just got done for €158 for 2 barely visible scratches on the bonnet of a well used rental car. I do have insurance but it's not the point. Robbing bastards! Will upload photos soon - DO NOT USE THIS CAR HIRE COMPANY

I had to give a star FRAUD COMPANY, ADVERTISING cheap rentals on carjet and other platforms then claim damages that doesn't exist. DON'T GO AHEAD, IS CHEAP BUT YOU WILL BATTLE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY BACK AS THEY WILL WITHDRAW YOUR CREDIT CARD, FALSIFY DOCUMENTS AND CLAIM DAMAGES. I BRING THE CAR BACK WITH NO DAMAGES, PICTURES BEFORE AND AFTER WITH DATES TO BE CLEAR are NO DAMAGES AND THEY the WITHDRAW MONEY ANYWAY. AND BECAUSE we ACT IN GOOD FAITH AND GIVE our CREDIT CARD AS A WARRANTY IN Case we DAMAGE THE RENTAL CAR, or have an accident, THEY WILL USE THE DOCUMENT TO WITHDRAW YOUR MONEY, WITH NO PROOF OR JUSTIFICATIONS OR DOCUMENTs TO ATEST, PROOF THEIR CLAIM. YOU WILL SPEND SO MUCH TIME DEALING WITH THIS SCAM COMPANY THAT IS NO WORTH IT. ARE GOOD COMPANIES ON CARJET, GREECE WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE, ROMANIA TOO, BUT NOT SURPRICE RENTAL. STAY AWAY ARE COMITING FRAUD. ITS A SCAM COMPANY WITH NO ETICS, WHO CAN'T DO PROPER BUSINESS, HAVE BAD REPUTATION AND EXTORT PEOPLE. SUCH SCAMS SHOULDN'T HAVE ACCESS TO OUR CREDIT CARDS. ALLOW TO OPERATE ON THE MARKET. MY EXPERIENCE WAS IN ROMANIA. WE RENT FROM OTHER GENUINE COMPANIES, WAS ALL GOOD EXPERIENCES BUT SURPRICE CAR RENTAL ITS A SCAM, COMMIT FRAUD AND WE HAVE TO BE AWARE. DON'T RENT FROM THEM. HAVE CHEAP RENTAL BUT YOU WILL PAY THOUSANDS AFTER IN FALSE CLAIM DAMAGES

Bad experience with this rental company. Someone wonders how they can stay in business, well, I share the question. Never had any problems with car rentals for years in Portugal, somebody has to be the first and they are. Bad brakes of the car, many dammaged parts of the "carrosserie" as well. And without blinking an eye, added one more whereas we are absolutely sure it was not done by us. Low cost, sure, but very expensive in the end. To avoid.

This scam company will charge you for a micro cosmetic mark on your car not “previously” recorded. Avoid at all costs and use a more mainstream reputable rental company. If you do rent from them, take lots of high resolution photos of every inch of the car as proof of pre-existing “damages” that they could extort from you… buyer beware!

I would like to share an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience I had when renting a car at the Surprice car rental in Lisbon, managed by the branch manager Marco Marujo. I booked a vehicle through the CarJet platform, with insurance included for a week-long rental. Upon arriving at the Surprice office, I faced a wait of over two hours to be assisted, something that seemed to be a common occurrence as several other customers were equally dissatisfied with the long wait times and the poor service. When I was finally attended by Marco Marujo, he requested my documents and a credit card to cover a €2,460 deposit, which was supposed to be a reservation in case of any incidents with the car. However, the problem arose when he refused to accept my credit card, claiming that because it didn’t have embossed numbers, he couldn’t process the payment. I explained that I had used this same card at other car rental companies in Portugal without any issue, but he insisted that, according to the company's policy, the card was not acceptable. I offered to pay the deposit via bank transfer or using my debit card, but he stated that this wasn’t possible. Absurdly, he then mentioned that if I wanted to make a full deposit, the amount would be €24,000, which is completely disproportionate and illogical, as that amount is almost the value of the car itself. With no other option, I was forced to pay an additional €311 for insurance imposed by the rental company, even though I had already contracted insurance through CarJet. Upon checking the itemized bill, I discovered that this amount included services that I explicitly stated I didn’t need, such as the Via Verde service, along with other completely unnecessary charges for my case. Below is the breakdown of the charged items: 1x Rental Rate: €0,00 1x Cross Border: €45,00 (I have no idea what this is, as I don’t plan to cross any borders) 1x Easy Swap Spain: €56,00 (again, I don’t plan to travel to Spain) 1x PAI: €24,50 (I don’t know what this is) 1x Top Cover, up to 30 days: €185,50 VAT: €58,15 Additionally, it became clear that Marco Marujo was acting unfairly and discriminatorily. When I questioned why my card wasn’t accepted, he made comments implying that cards "from Brazilians" wouldn’t be accepted, referring to cards like mine, which don’t have embossed numbers. The way he framed the issue suggested that, for some reason, Brazilians were less trustworthy or even suspected of fraud, and he outright stated that he didn’t trust me, which was deeply offensive. When I offered to show him my banking app to prove the card was legitimate, he refused to even consider it and went as far as suggesting that I could be showing him a fake video, implying that I was trying to deceive him. Faced with this situation, I had no choice but to pay the €311 to be able to leave with the car, but this charge was clearly abusive, combined with discriminatory and xenophobic behavior from the employee. This experience not only reflects the terrible customer service but also the dishonest and abusive business practices of Surprice. They force customers to pay for additional services that were not requested, creating a situation where, at the last minute, the only option is to accept or lose the reservation. I wasn’t the only one facing issues, as other customers at the location were dealing with similar problems, which suggests that these practices are recurrent, as can be seen in the numerous online complaints. I am pursuing my rights with the relevant authorities to recover the amounts charged unjustly and to report the discriminatory behavior. For those considering renting a car in Lisbon, I strongly advise avoiding Surprice to avoid the same abuses that I faced.

DO NOT USE!!! Arrived to pick up reserved car (shabby location), attendant spent over an hour typing our info into his computer which had already been provided upon reservation with Expedia. Then said I hadn't provided a credit card for payment (I could see my cc on his desk). Finally provided a car so covered in mud that we could not see scratches and body damage. Inside was also filthy, trash from prior customer. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY.

Avoid this company at all costs! I have no idea how they manage to stay in business. Do NOT rent from them! I had to open a dispute with my bank due to fraudulent charges on my credit card. Despite paying for full insurance coverage through Expedia, they demanded additional money for the same service — over $300 for a rental that initially cost $186! They also required a deposit, which should have been refunded but was instead charged to my credit card a month later for $550.95. Their customer service is atrocious as well. Stay far away from this company!

I have travelled to over 70 countries and rented cars all over the world. This has to be the worst experience ever! The staff are very rude, they try really hard to sell you insurance with scare tactics, and when you don’t buy insurance they fraudulently try to charge you for damages!!! Absolutely horrible experience!

NEVER NEVER NEVER MORE HERAKLION airport Worst car rental experience ever. Before the trip to Heraklion we rented a car, when we came to pick it up they wanted more money from us, we paid 400 Euros in advance and when we picked up the car they wanted another 650 Euros. We didn't take the car and the money was not returned to us. For the same period, we rented a car at a small local Greek rental company next to the accommodation for 290,- Euro. one learns from mistakes

SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS...!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! I rented a car from Surprice in Portugal and when I went to pick up the car they told me that I was the first person to drive it, that the car would be new, but the car was dirty and when the guy handed me the car, he told me not to worry because the car was new, in fact it was out of fuel and that I should wait a little, he would have to fill it up and he would be right back, well, I waited about 30 minutes for him to come back and when he came back he said he had already filled it up and handed me the car, I couldn't understand if it was full or not, because the car was new and I didn't understand if it had fuel, but I believed that given the time he took he would have given me the car with a full tank, but unfortunately I discovered that he didn't put any fuel in it, when I started my trip to another city the information appeared that the car needed to be filled up. So I went back to Suprice to find out why the car hadn’t been filled up and I was made to feel unwelcome by the attendants at the door who told me they had only put a little bit of fuel in so I could go to a gas station, but that wasn’t what they told me when they said they were going to fill it up. Anyway, I took a picture of the dashboard to show how much fuel I had and went to a gas station to fill it up. When I went to return the car, the attendant named Eduarda Furtado did a full inspection that hadn’t been done before when I picked up the car or when the guy came back from filling up, trying to find something. She said the hubcap had a small, light scratch that would cost me 238 euros to fix and that I could contact the broker and they would reimburse me the amount. I felt cheated, outraged, embarrassed and deceived, as if they had made me look like an idiot, because I couldn’t believe what was happening, a pitiful and ridiculous scene. The attendant Eduarda pressured me to pay the amount, saying that she was just an employee. I didn't sign it right away because I didn't owe anything, but the next day they charged me the amount on my credit card without my authorization, in the amount of 238 euros and without warning me. I returned to the agency on 09/28/24 in person and another attendant gave me several documents to contact the broker to refund the amount that was charged. I felt deceived throughout this entire process and I advise everyone not to rent a car from this company because they are unprofessional and have bad character.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE CROOKS Rented a car online via a comparison site for our holiday to Malta. Paid for extra insurance as well. Upon arrival to pick up our car They ended up charging us an extra £200 because we didn’t have a credit card! and they charged us an for extra insurance as they said the one we took out online when we purchased the car hire wasn’t valid and we couldn’t have the car without it. My partner ended up just paying as we needed to get our young daughter to our accommodation. Upon returning the car, there were two very small ‘dots’ no bigger than a couple of mm on the paint work. They charged us the excess of €450 plus €50 admin fee for the ‘damage’. This was not going to cost more than €450 to fix (nor would they probably bother getting it fixed). Apparently none of the insurances we had covered any wear and tear, even though we had an extra policy they made us take out. They are absolute crooks. Do not rent from this company. Other reputable companies came out as more initially on the comparison site and we wish we had just gone with them as our car hire went from £60 to over £600 by the time we had finished with them. It’s disgusting. They are also not part of the ECRCS which ensures hire companies are kept to a high and fair standard. Says a lot. Stay away.

1 star is way too much to rate this company. I echo and can relate to all the negative reviews in here. Firstly, the pick up area at Pisa airport is not signposted or clear, we wandered around aimlessly for an hour. We were collected by a lovely lady to helped us with our baggage and drove us to collect our car... this is where our nightmare began. Forget up-selling us bodywork insurance, this company used scare mongering tactics into buying this expensive insurance. Whilst stood at the desk and looking at the shocking reviews of this company, the girl with the brown hair behind the desk rudely interrupted us demanding to know if we were going to write a bad review...well that was obvious! Half way through our trip, a mechanic pointed out that 3 of the tyres were completely bald and illegal. When we returned the car were were told immediately that we have to go and wash the car otherwise we would be charged in excess of 100 euros upon inspection of the car, but we had purchased their scam insurance, so why would they need to inspect the damage. In addition, we were not told that we would have to clean it and they said to us that it was obvious When we pointed out that the tyres were bald, they said they knew and were aware of it! Anyway, 20 euros later, we returned the to the 2 jumped up, admin girls. We returned the car absolutely gleaming, which was not the condition in which we received it. I travel to Pisa multiple times in the year, and I will never hire from this bunch of cowboys again. Don't bother asking for names either, they will give you a false one. There was also another guy dropping off at the same time as sand they were trying to scam him too, unfortunately for him, he had to leave to catch his flight. There are a few companies in the same hut, Surprice, AutOne, ParkinGo, Rentsmart24 and it wouldn't surprise me if they all operate this shady way. There was a hosepipe in the carpark but when I asked if I could use it I was told it was against the law......😆 Do not hire from Surprice, because you will be in for a massive Surprice!

Do not, DO NOT DO NOT rental from them. They rob you blind. They made take extra travel insurance because I did not have original credit card, but it could have been. Paid. They accepted the deposit 500 euro on my wise card. They charged me 232 euros to take full insurance. Even though I had already taken full insurance. So my all my car rental which should have cost me $325 cost me $1000!!! Because they would not rent me without taking extra insurance. And because yij have to sign a document stating you taken it. You cannot claim that they forced you - they make out it is voluntary. Would you pay extra 230 euro for more insurance when you already have paid for full cover! They ruined the start of my holiday I will never use them or Orbit rental again This is a cowboy outfit! Do not book with them

Horrible experience. Would never use this company again. Didn’t get picked up from airport. Paid for a taxi. When we arrived, we got greeted by a crowd of people all Waiting and complaining they had been waiting for over 2 hours. One couple emptied a bag full of rubbish out of their vehicle. Scratches and bumps all over. Car wasn’t full of petrol yet we were expected to fill it up on return. Awful company!

SCAMMERS!!!! AVOID - DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! We rented a car with Surprice Pisa through a website called doyouitaly. No one picked us up as promised at the airport so after waiting one hour we decided to take a cab to a dingy lot were they are located. Two rude employees at the desk and after another hour to wait for hour turn we were told we weren’t in the system anymore because our pick up time expired. At that point we left and dragged our suitcases back to the airport by foot and rented from another company

🌟SCAMMERS🌟 🌟SCAMMERS🌟 Paid upfront, didn’t answer phone for transfer collection from Naples airport. Has to walk 20 mins to office! Had taken excess full insurance cover in UK before trip. Employee aggressive, rude, totally obnoxious! Booked through Kayak, which diverted to a broker, car rental8.com- employee refused to give car unless we paid 700 euros for extra insurance. Decided to count our loses and hired from ‘My rental car’ in central Naples. A totally different experience. Now trying to get money back from the broker. Everyone needs to report to the European Consumer centre as lots of brokers using this car company ❌don’t use them ❌
