“Avoid using this company. A scam provider going by more than one name 1. AutoOne and 2. Surprise, were the names we were given.
We returned the car in exactly the same condition we received it in (It had one noticeable dent which was on the pre hire report) and many minor scuffs and marks. This made us feel confident however we still took photos of a few of the marks we could see prior to driving away ( made difficult by the car being parked closely to cars on each side). Also it had been raining the morning we picked the car up so it had the obvious rain marks.
They insist on payment of the excess deposit up front which was actually taken rather than on hold.
We returned the car in exactly the same condition we received it after a 5 day rental. We washed the car the day before returning it but it rained during the night so again it had some rain marks, but was not dirty.
Upon return they claimed that all the little scuffs etc were attained during the rental, I denied the accusations as we were parked on private property behind locked gates for the 5 days near Marostica.
They refused to refund the €900 deposit and somehow took another €22 for washing of the car even though I didn’t authorise the credit card deduction.
They refuse to respond to my various requests and emails.
They are THIEVES and promoted by DoYouItaly. Avoid both.P”
“This company never again, I often use the services of rental car agencies, this is a complete deception, the price that is paid when booking is doubled, due to insurance, additionally if you arrive after 22:00, you have to pay 40 euros for night pick-up and also leaving it at the airport. plus that insurance, even though it's too expensive, doesn't cover anything except metal parts, i.e. tires, glass, rearview mirrors, headlights, brake lights, any other additional 120 euros, avoid this company in general.”
“O rented a car from Bucharest , with deposit of 1200 euro , when I brought the car back they invented a scratch witch can’t be seen with naked eye , they zoom it 5x to see a small mark , and they see I have to pay 400 euro , I have took all legal action against them and put them on all social media where there is over 100k in views ! Avoid !!!”
“Been hiring cars from more than 40 countries around the world. I can ABSOLUTELY say that from all of my experiences, SURPRICE ALBANIA has the worst trust issue. To the point that I felt they are almost a scammer.
In short, the vehicle was not properly check before letting and when the problems occurred, they forced me to pay for their mistake. Despite that, I was the first one to contact their staff, and received a message 'do not worry, we will not charged you'.
The staff later twisted their word, lied, to get away from it. Without letting me talk to their management, they forced me to pay for their team's mistake. Saying, 'IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY THAT I DID NOT CHECK THE CAR PROPERLY WHEN I TOOK IT.'
That was the worst response ever, customer trusted the staff to properly check their vehicle. Not us!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY.”
“Surprice Skopje Northmacedonia. Scammer Company. Do not use Surprice. Surprice charged me the full amount again on site and had to pay in cash. The employee insisted on cash payment and did not want to accept a credit card. The credit that I paid online was not credited to me on site. I also received an old VW Polo with 300 000km. The engine light and service light were on. The rear brake lights did not work. the tires were all worn out. The condition of the vehicle was miserable and smelled extremely bad. The employee at was very unfriendly. I also stated in my booking that I was traveling from Skopje to Ohrid 172km at night. The vehicle was given to me with an empty tank. I am very disappointed with the service. I have previously booked with Enterprise in Macedonia and the service was excellent. With Surprice it was a complete disaster.”
“Charged me €376.42 for the tiniest of dents, which was soo small it was missed 3 times as they circled the car inspecting it, Avoid as they are SCAMMERS, read the trust pilot reviews....88% gave a rating if 1”
“Surprice Heathrow
Surely after reading all the reviews on here and other review sites there is clearly a systematic fraudulent approach being applied by Surprice to rip off customers. The similarities on refusing credit cards or not recognising pre-purchased insurances (Rental Cars in my case) dubious damage reports should be investigated by the relevant local authorities or industry regulator.
Would be great to be able to collate all these complaints in one central location, to pursue a class action against this terrible company
Do not use Surprice - fraudulent scammers....”
“Booked in UK using Amex. Arrived at pickup in Milan without a Mastercard credit card ( don’t own one) but I offered to leave cash instead. Was informed this would cost 250 euros more!!
It feels like a total scam … I walked out and went next door and hired a car with another company who took Amex and who were very polite and the car was great, despite no pre booking. I’m out of pocket by £95 but I just didn’t trust this company. Go elsewhere is my only advice. Do t be fooled by cheaper prices.”
“Initially given a non roadworthy vehicle with no tread on front tyre.
Told car was filled with fuel but tank was empty.
Deposit refund still pending after 17 days and they are ignoring my emails.”
“Felt entirely like a scam. It’s not “on sight” at the airport and you need to get a shuttle there. From that point, the customer service rep was rude. Told us we needed to pay extra for things, then even though I paid for insurance through Priceline, requested our insurance and wanted the declaration page, not just proof of personal insurance. We called our agent who said she’d send it but that it was strange. While outside, another renter was on the phone with his insurance trying to get the same info and his agent told him they don’t typically give that out. My husband then said he wanted a refund or we’d file a chargeback and the agent said “I’m refusing service.” I asked if it was because we figured out that this was a scam? Just don’t rent from here. Stay away!!”
“SURPRICE ARE A SCAMMERS company, hard to find when you reach the airport, the stuff dont answer phone calls, you have to take a shuttle that is difficult to find to get your car. Despite byuing the full insurance package from economy booking the car company refused and charged me 600 euros to get their company full coverage, the requested an internation drive license despite using several times my uae driving license in italy with no issues, they said not legal BUT it became legal when paying 600 euros extra 😡😡 the tires were old and i got to fix them on my own cost 2 times as the tires were losing pressure because of holes since the wheels were old and easy to break
NOTHING good about this company i didnt read the reviews before ( as all people had same issues with them) they appear to be the cheapest option but once you arrive they scam you with hundreds of euros as you dont have another choice once there, and it end up being more expensive than the other know car rental. KEEP AWAY FROM SURPRICE OR AUTOONE COMPANY”
“Car was old and had 150000 on the clock, the rental was booked and fully paid for and they charged us 160 euro for items which are included.
Booked a ford focus got a dacia logan.
worst rental i have ever had”
“I paid for the rental car fee, and they also put a separate additional $1286 charge on my credit card for the deposit in case of any damages. they told me I would get this back when I returned the car if there were no damages. Well, I returned the car two days ago with no damages, but they still haven’t reimbursed me for the $1286 deposit. I emailed them and called them and haven’t gotten any response.”
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS
badly organised. Rude staff had to pay a security deposit of £1200 and never got it back. No reply on phone, no paperwork as all signed on an iPad. Rented through holiday autos so assumed they were legit but they are horrendous and I have been scammed . Pisa Italy”
“I forgot my MasterCard, had only Maestro and Amex. I booked full insurance at Carjet, but needed to pay another 1.845 Euros at the pick-up (Lisbon). Which I wanted to, by normal IBAN Bank transfer.
However, I was just sent away..”
“SCAM SCAM TOTAL SCAM
SURPRICE MILAN SCAMMERS .
I Booked and paid for 13 days plus insurance. I gave my arrival details but fight delay 25 minutes so they re rented my car to a higher paying customer and refused to refund costing me over €300 euros. NEVER EVER USE THIS SCAM COMPANY OR DO YOU ITALY. Total scam”
“Con artists, had us waiting 2 hours in a queue only to tell us the booking had been expired and we had to book again for an extra 400 pounds. Car hire was only for 4 days. It’s honestly worth paying a bit extra and staying away from these slimey firms who only want to rip you off. They use the booking through third parties as a way to force full insurance packages.”
“Absolutely disappointed & disgusted with the company. All the staff at the rental desk were very rude and bully to take out extra covers.. The shuttle never arrived, so we had to take a taxi to get to the rental desk. Lots of arguments and bullying and the whole rental experience was very stressful!! Never ever use this company. If there was an option, I would have given Minus Review.
OMG”
