Whatever you do, never use SKYES they are terrible, they will rob you. Go to reputable holiday company

Avoid this company!! They delete any negative feedback on their website. Harass you over disputed damage with no evidence. Have the cheek to request £15 for damage after they have already taken £100 - what a waste of time AVOID this company and Carbis Bay Holidays.

Awful uncaring customer service. Arranged a big family holiday a year in advance in a large Sykes property and paid deposit. Then after doing my own research found the property had been put up for sale and Sykes had “ forgotten to let me know” sitting on a huge deposit Only when I called to let them know my findings did they release my deposit!!

Avoid SykesCotages aka carbisbayholidays at all costs The Breakers Carbis Bay Cornwall Two years ago my wife was diagnosed with bowel cancer, we now try to holiday as much as possible as we never know when cancer could come back. we have been holidaying with sykes cottages carbisbayholidays for years now but a week before this holiday my wife got really sick we still don't know the outcome and she is still sick. We asked sykes cottages if we could change the date or have a partial refund, they asked for medical proof. The following day they said if you cancel we take 100% of the money it's in the terms and conditions the owner and Sykes refused point blank after we provided private medical information. I am absolutely disgusted with this company and the owner who doesn't have a single ounce of compassion whatsoever, that house stood empty for a week when they could have simply relisted at half price and given us a couple of hundred pounds back that would have been the decent thing to do. they took £1271 for 1 week, we paid for our dog that never went, the property didn't need cleaning afterward because we never arrived at the property. seriously think before you book with them. The company is also removing negative feedback to promote properties and their company In their TnCs, it pretty much says if we don't like what you have to say we will remove your feedback Stay clear of this company at all costs they have no interest in you just your money

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Numerous issues with customer service and money still owed: 1. Booked a cottage to receive 6+ emails confirming booking (8th April) 2. Received an email (12th April) asking me to get in touch with no context. PI called and emailed (several times) to no reply. 3. Finally a response telling me the owner had declined the booking… 11 days after making the booking! (19th April) 4. Phone call to find another property - one offered was c14 miles from where we needed to stay, the other had reviews of mould in the cottage. Agreed to move booking to cottage with mould out of necessity. 5. Was then told we owed an additional £63 so changed our mind and decided we didn’t want to stay somewhere with mould for extra cost - Sykes agreed the refund in full (21st April) and it would be in my account in 3-5 working days (fair enough) 6. After numerous emails, over three weeks later, we still have received nothing by way of refund. I am told to check with my bank as this has been processed - my bank cannot see this payment. Last email received from Sykes now 72 hours ago.

Paid £500 per night for a lakeside lodge fallbarrow in Bowness. Had bi fold doors off the lounge and bedroom but no keys! We were told they were all broken!! No compensation and very unhelpful staff. Book with an owner direct and avoid Skyes!

Booked for 5 nights Within 2 hours of arriving owner phoned to say the fridge wasn’t working and wouldn’t be working for the duration of our stay Second day-tried to use oven but it consistently tripped out RCD switch disabling all electrics-owner admitted there had been a problem the previous week as he had an electrician out to replace a fuse-obviously not done correctly and not checked Overall no fridge and no oven cooking facilities for 5 days. Both problems were outstanding problems , however owner and company still happy to rent out an unsafe house Property is Alnbank ground floor Argyle Street Alnmouth Northumberland NE66 2SB

Found out the cottage we had booked had no parking outside we eoujd need to keep moving the car (90 steps up and down to the property ) suggested we use the park and ride at the top of the hill and bus up and down . Excellent idea with three kids under 5 . Refusing to refund deposit and think they are going to charge me the rest !!!! Disgusting !!! 20 years we have been booking with them . Me bet ever ever again !!!!

Three adults, three dogs, luggage and mobility equipment. Driver broke hand week before travel. We asked to move booking and answer was no as no. Can't get another driver as no room in car and public transport does not work with all there is to take. We have not the full amount of holiday and not getting any money back, took out there insurance but this event not covered as travel not part of this. Absolutely shocking and day light robbery, a score of -5 would be more appropriate

Absolute disapointment in customer service that never think about their customers making their terms and conditions and owners on top of everything. We have lost £350 on this booking due to change of circumstances. We even took insurance and it's appeared insurance doesn't cover change in circumstances, when on the website it states that the concellations are covered for up to £5000. Absolute disgrace! Never again.

We booked a property on £20 deposit The e mail containing the t&c’s went into spam so it 48 hours later. Why charge £20 when you need the full deposit. This is very misleading Tried to cancel 48 hours after booking but would not help us at all. We lost over £1400. Absolutely disgusting. Staff were rude and gave incorrect info. Told us to call the owner who was happy for us to cancel. Sykes still would not refund any of the money. We would have happily paid a reasonable admin fee. We would never use this company again

Be wary of the terminology on Sykes website. We thought that the property we rented had TWO bathrooms as this what was stated. It actually had a cloak room and shower room. I contacted Sykes but they said any room with a toilet is a bathroom!! I asked for the CEO email but they wouldn’t give it to me. Check very carefully before you book to be sure that you are getting what is stated on the website

Put my holiday hime with Sykes, promised legal help is required. However when I had some damage and an guest who wouldn’t leave they couldn’t help!! As for their bookings, plenty of them at £350 per week, leaving little for the cottage owners. The letting algorithms have no regard fir changeover costs. I had 4, 2/3 night bookings over Easter, needing 4 changeovers in 10 days…

I booked a holiday for my large family taking advantage of the low £20 deposit to secure it before it became unavailable. Then I lost my job unexpectedly. Despite all my efforts Sykes Cottages are charging me £730 of the holiday's cost - the holiday is April 24 so plenty of time for them to recoup the booking. I can't afford it . They don't care. NO flexibility NO compassion NOT one iota of customer service or discretion. Watch out for the hidden terms and conditions designed to catch customers out. I will NEVER use Sykes Holidays again.

We signed up with Sykes as a property owner and have been hugely disappointed from the start. They have flexibility to charge rates, which hugely devalues our property. Compared to other rental companies, Sykes have greatly underperformed. In fact, they have earned more revenue through fining us than new bookings. This is a company with more than £200m profit and two listed directors (check them out via the Companies House website). No wonder they don't care....

Do not book with Skyes Cottages whatsoever. The cottage we have booked has since shown up on Rightmove for sale - if it is sold (which is shown as was, then back up for sale again) we have no idea whether we can stay or not. We can't even move dates as all future dates have been blocked. Do not pay the cheap £20 deposit - you are still made to pay the full deposit amount if you cancel. Terrible customer service and I feel totally locked into paying for something that a/ may or not be available if the property is sold and the booking is canceled and b/ won't lose £20 deposit but over £500 if I cancel.

Owner is attempting to invoice us for damage to a cheap plastic tripod on which a telescope was mounted. We did not cause the damage and there was a pre-existing repair with glue that we noticed. This after increasing the cost by £160 when we had to put the holiday back by a week to attend my Mother's funeral.

Have booked through them many times before but never again - always been bordering on inflexible at the best of times but the barbarically aggressive nature of the no deposit in any situation is ludicrous... I get the desire to avoid convenience cancellation, but months before with a very legitimate reason and not a pound back. Sure Sykes got tehir pound of flesh with the £990 deposit, but we never rebooked the trip so the rest of the money was never secured and nobody from our group of 6 adults will ever book with them again - ludicrous system which you would expect to have a human layer of compromise behind the rigid surface rationale. . . . . Just worked themselves out of tens of thousands of pounds worth of business for the next 10-20 years just to crunch £900 out of someone you could have just given back as credit to use on Sykes - awful system, terrible business model.... P.S YOU CAN FIND MOST OF THEIR PROPERTIES ELSEWHERE - dON'T BE FOOLED - THEY WILL LIKELY BE AVAILABLE ON SITES OFFERING MORE FLEXIBILITY AND AN OVERALL BETTER SERVICE

DO NOT RECOMMEND lady bagots cabin Cabin was lovely however once we left they tried to charge us £100 for new bedding and cleaning products which is just crazy never had a problem when staying in other properties/hotels The hot tub smelled absolutely horrendous, didn't once come round to check or clean it we was the for 5 days. Also no service what so ever in the cabin which they don't make you aware off before you arrive in case of emergency you have to walk 2 miles up the road. Will not be returning, suprise we didn't get charge for using the coffee machine, just ruined our whole experience.

We put a £20 deposit down for a cottage as per the web site, and when we cancelled (in January with the cottage booked for August), we were billed nearly £500 for cancelling. Very misleading messaging and appalling customer service all round. We called them and they said they could move the booking to another date and would let us know, then never called us back. When we called them they said it was too late now to do anything. Honestly AVOID this company they are crooks!
