About Virgin Experience Days:

Virgin Experience Days was launched in March 2001 under the name of Virgin Experience. Originally offering experiences to corporate clients as a way of incentivising staff and customers, the company rapidly expanded to bring the Virgin values of quality, innovation, value for money and fun to the consumer experience gift market.
The summer of 2003 was a real milestone for Virgin Experience. In our continual quest to bring the best experiences and unrivalled service, we joined forces with Acorne Sports. Founded in 1988, Acorne Sports is the original experience company and it’s their stamp of approval that confirms our pedigree and ability to deliver unforgettable experiences. Acorne ’s unrivalled reputation, knowledge and relationship with all of the featured centres made them the perfect partners for Virgin Experience, a company dedicated to making sure customers have the very best time. By teaming up, we are able to challenge the way every experience is provided and offer once-in-a-lifetime gifts backed up by friendly service staff with first-hand knowledge.

Smart School of Cookery. Attended what was meant to be a gourmet cooking day. This turned out to be anything but gourmet. Over cooked scallops, gravy made with stock granules. Standard very poor. Would not recommend

My son got a voucher for Christmas, when activated the event had passed, so had to attempt exchange. Didn't realise that the voucher would expire so soon. Managed to find an alternative that was 5 days after the expiry date but was told still needed to pay extension fee of £20 and extra £10 for the experience. When I checked on the actual providers site driveme.co.uk the same experience is £50 cheaper. This company are a joke, customer service appalling. Avoid.

Had a spa day with 2 treatments and afternoon tea for 2 at a Hilton hotel bought as a birthday present for myself. Chose to go to the Cobham Hilton the woman who did our treatments was absolutely fabulous very professional informative and made you feel relaxed and at ease. It's a shame the hotel itself was a let down! Firstly they never offered robes for the spa just towels we was charged extra to use the spa facilities only after paying and entering spa the sauna was out of use! The swimming pool tiny and a awful steam room...there was one lounger in the spa area and 3 plastic chairs not at all relaxing, the changing room was crazily tiny......went in the Mediterranean grill for afternoon tea we was the only table in there the sandwiches awful and the fillings were different to what they said. The scones were stale and had been heated up to try and hide this but it made them rubbery. And the manager was just plain rude!.....my first spa experience ruined by the hotel!

We could never get a date available for the experience we had been kindly bought as a gift; they were few and far between in our area. We had to swap the experience for a meal out for two and we made it into our 'honeymoon meal' as we were unable to afford one; a week after our wedding we arrived at the booked venue to be told that Central Reservations had not booked the table or us at the venue, having traveled all the way to get there it was very upsetting. It continued to get worse from this point!

Hot Air Balloon - Potential Con; After 2 cancellations of the hot air balloon ride for 'expected thunderstorms', when the weather, both times turned out to be clear and sunny, I checked out the reviews to see if anyone else has had the same issue.. it turns out that every balloon related review is 1 star based feedback about how much of a con it is. I couldn't agree more either.. save your money! :) Pete

How Richard Branson gets rich.... I get a Virgin Balloon Flight for two worth a lot of money. After nine cancellations by Virgin they don't refund the money, they send a "Virgin Experience Gift Card" instead. When I come to use it, just over a year later, I'm told it's expired. Even though there's no expiry date marked on the card. When I appeal I'm told "It's just like cash, it goes out of date". I explain that cash doesn't go out of date. Customer Services agree but say I've lost the money anyway. What a great way to make money! Charge you cash and give you nothing in return, 100% profit and more!!

I had a voucher for afternoon tea for 2 at the Michelin-Starred Afternoon Tea with Cava for Two at COMO The Halkin 5* Hotel CODE: PHCOCT It was my sister's birthday treat and my daughter had bought me the voucher. The food was lovely BUT we felt like we were sitting in a group of business meetings as the setting was awful. It did not match what I had expected at all. The ambiance is part of the experience and ours was awful - with loud business meetings taking place at low coffee tables by the door all around us. Also,I had not been sent a voucher so I had hassel with that initially too. I definitely would rate the food but as a nice cosy experience I would rate it with a 1/10! An awful setting for afternoon tea. IHad I know it was going to be where it was I never would have taken my sister there!!!

I received my voucher which was bought by my sister for my 50th she had saved up to buy it at £79 we booked the afternoon tea then discovered to our surprise if we had booked ourselves the cost would only be £45 for the two of us . That's £34 cheaper than when using the voucher !! Please think carefully before purchasing these voucher as you will get much ( in fact nearly double) more for your money if you contact the venue directly ( in our case ). We are so disappointed what an absolute rip off . Activity superstore shame on you .

Warning to any potential customers. Booked tripple whammy as Christmas present for my sons, website recommends to book 6weeks in advance so tried to book 9 weeks before voucher expiry, nothing available until a month after they expire. Company not interested offered to extend vouchers for £60 even though not my fault I can't use the vouchers before they expire. Obviously not enough planned events to cover demand. What a con, don't waste your money.

I’m writing an email of disappointment, I treated my mother in law for a Virgin Experience Spa Day at Bannytynes Mansfield. My thoughts were that due to the brand it must be to a high standard. I will be emailing Virgin Experience Days about my experience as to begin with the promotion was not clear, it stated ‘Choice of two mini treatments lasting approx. 25 minutes’ this does not state whether it was altogether or each, myself thinking 12.5 minute a treatment is not long I assumed it would be each. The day and treatments we were very disappointment from start to finish, the food we paid for the afternoon tea, the sandwiches were dry, large and seemed that no care had been taken with them. The cakes were nice and there was variety, we ordered it for half 2 which we didn’t receive it until 2:50 when our treatments started at 3. So we had to rush them down. There was only 6 beds which the spar got busier and people were sleeping on them so there was no where to sit. When we arrived at the spa treatment room, they firstly put us in the same room even though when booking it I had asked for separate rooms and when I queried this apparently you had over booked so we had to share, which is not my problem that you have over booked. Then my mother in law had booked a 25 minutes of just a bamboo massage on her back, the therapist did half the time on her legs which wasn’t asked for nor did she want. My mother in law informed me after she was in pain the whole way through. Both therapists throughout our treatment did not ask if we were ok, how we like it or how we were enjoying it throughout. Both therapist made us feel unwelcome, rushed and like they couldn’t get us out quick enough. Which is the complete opposite feeling you should feel after a spa day.

Booked a hot air balloon flight which was cancelled six times. Virgin then sent a gift voucher to use instead . We couldn't book anything on the times we had off work which would be in our local area . The gift voucher then expired so we were left with nothing. Please don't waste your money.

Seems like a scam to me. Other vouchers we had received at the same time had long dates on them but Virgin Voucher went out of date a few months after receiving. No extension, no money back possible. Venues still open so just extra money for Virgin. Yes, I know we could have checked dates but why should we have? If your given money you don't check when that money expires.
