Dear Handtec I wanted to email you to let you know that you are an absolutely despicable company with absolutely no morals or principles whatsoever. I recently made an order with you to sell my Samsung S20 Ultra and was quoted around £673. I read your terms and conditions in Section 2 which states “Handtec reserves the right to request for an original invoice and some form of ID such as a driving licence for particular handsets this is due to security and fraud prevention. If this is not provided there will be a £30 admin fee to return the handset or a reduced price for the handset will be offered.” As I was making the order, and as I did not know WHICH “particular” devices you were talking about, I was of the understanding that I would be informed if my device would be one of these products in advance of me sending my order. I placed the order (HO114465), the package was sent and i was not informed anything about Handtec needing proof of purchase for my particular handset. On Thursday 14th May, Handtec emailed me confirming that they have received my order and will be processing it as soon as possible. However, on Friday 15th May at around 4.45PM, I received an email from Handtec saying “due to the value of the phone, Handtec requires proof of purchase and if i cannot provide this, I can return it but will be charged a £30 admin fee”. I find that absolutely disgusting and vile. Handtec KNEW the value of the phone BEFORE I sent the parcel and I was not told that I needed to provide proof of purchase. If i knew, I would not have sent it as I do not have proof of purchase and unfortunately, I am not a mind reader and don’t know which “particular devices” your horrendous terms and conditions apply to but i thought you would do the decent thing and tell me when you knew which device i was selling to you! To make matters worse, when I contacted Handtec regarding the email I received on the 15th May, I was told by a worker named Sal that Handtec do not contact individual customers after the order is placed and all the information is in our terms & conditions, which is absolutely false as I received an email from Handtec on Friday the 15th asking for proof of purchase! The customer service that Handtec provides was shocking and the processes and transparency of Handtec is even worse and I will not be doing business with you ever again. I will be posting multiple posts along with family and friends on all forums to reflect this shocking experience and will be complaining to Trading Standards and reporting to local newspapers. In a time of economic stress and pressure, Handtec is using its disgusting and dodgy ways to steal money from people. Bunch of fraudsters and a company filled with immorality and lack of principles. An absolute clown company that feeds and rips off the working class. You classless and comedic company, I hope you enjoy your £30!

If I could give these people minus stars I would. This is a scam, they offer you a price for your phone and then dont honour the price making a ridiculously low offer (less than a third of the agreed price) . They then charge you £30 for the return of your phone. THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Bought a phone on their eBay page, 2 days later they cancel it and tell ebay I asked them to cancel it (I did not) they then tell me due to a stock error they cancelled it. On the phone listing it shows they put the phone back up and sold it to someone else 2 hours later. If they cancel it and put that I (the buyer) asked them to they stop any feedback being left from myself and any defects going on their account. This is really poor service. I messaged them and asked why and they claimed they sold it to someone a few days ago but they did not, I was the first buyer! They are liars and useless. Don't bother. Also they report negative reviews that aren't against the rules to hide their poor service and reputation. Best avoided.

Do not trade your phone in with this company. They will agree a price and then come up with non existing reasons why they won't pay the agreed price and you will have to fight to get your phone back, saying it will be £30 admin to send it back even though on the website it says FREE returns if not happy. avoid at all costs dont say you wasn't warned

Well, after I posted my phone to them I stumbled on this review site and instantly thought I’ve just been scammed, I sent my phone on a Thursday and still heard nothing Monday night. Tuesday morning I had a text saying they still haven’t received my phone, I was just about to write a email to them as the Royal Mail tracking said it had been delivered that morning when I received a email from them saying the order had arrived and they were sending it to their recycle team for inspection, I must admit I instantly thought by reading the comments here that they would get back to me and say there’s scratches or chips or some reason why they won’t give me the full amount so I read through the T&Cs to see that I would have to pay £30 to get the phone back which I would of done because it was a pristine condition 1 month old iPhone 11 Pro 256g. Wednesday night I had a email from them saying great news they’ve just made a payment which will take 24 hours to clear, Thursday the money (full amount) was in my account by midday. Although I sent something to music magpie and got paid a day before and found them to have better communication. Don’t know if I’m just a lucky one but it all went ok, I just wanted to leave this here to show that I found them problem free, will I use them again??? Nope, due to the amount of bad reviews here I dont have the confidence to trust them even though my transaction was fine!

Do not use for selling a device. Keeps your phone and then does not communicate or update. They still have my device and look like they’re refusing to pay out. Looks like I’ve lost out on this one. Steer clear and AVOID.

DO NOT USE! I wish I had read the reviews before I parted with my immaculate condition iPhone X which Handtec valued at £435! Upon receipt they revised the offer to £145 saying that the screen and body of the phone was scratched along with problems with the mic - all rubbish! I am now trying to get my phone back! I will have no hesitation in contacting Trading Standards or taking legal action against this company! It’s just disgraceful!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I SENT THEM A PERFECTLY WORKING IPHONE 8 WITH THE PROMISE OF £183 FOR IT. THEY THEN TOLD ME THEY WOULD ONLY OFFER ME £80 AS IT WAS FAULTY AS IT WAS BENT WITH A CRACK ON THE CAMERA. WHEN I TOLD THEM I HAVE PICTURES OF THE PHONE BEFORE I SENT IT THEY SAID IT DOESN’T HAVE A CRACK?? WHEN I ASKED FOR MY PHONE BACK, THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO PAY £30 TO GET IT BACK! ABSOLUTELY DISGRACFUL! DO NOT USE!

Got a quote from handtec slightly higher than other companies. Wish I had read these reviews as the same happened to me. I was quoted nearly £90 for a iPhone 7. My phone had been in a case the whole time I had it no damage and worked perfectly fine. I was simply upgrading and wanted the best price for my old phone. When I sent it off I was told it had scratches on the screen and the battery needed replacing ??? I was offered half the money £45 and told if I wasn’t happy with the price I could pay £30 to get it back. Scammers as there know it would not be worth paying the money to get sent back. Do not use this company.

Absolute joke, sent my phone, then they wanted a receipt as they were saying it was on finance which it wasn’t and they would offer £100 or charge me to get my phone back. Total scam artists as per all of these reviews, do not use these under any circumstances. They ignore emails and don’t answer the phone.

They Had my phone over a week , saying it was still under contract so could offer £100 instead of £700. Total rip off merchants. Told them I had the receipt and sent it to them. Still waiting 5 days later for a reply. Will not use these again.

A company that takes advantage of the seller of their phone. Don’t ever believe the website price offer we had a phone inspected by apple and they agreed it was in perfect condition but said maybe we can get a better price from another source eg- handtec ! After dispatch Handtec started stating that the phone had faults and scratches but our photos taken of the phone Prior to sending the phone to Handtec had no scratches So I asked for the scratches they had seen to be photoed and sent to me- their answer was we don’t have facilities to send a photo? Anyway the price first quoted was £150 then went to £160 then £170 but never ever got to the £180.10 p so we asked for the phone back and let’s see if the phone comes back the same as sent? If not a long arguement and trading standards involvement will begin. Here’s hoping ?

Offered me £255 for my Samsung s9+ sent off with its original box contents then the said had burn in screen and offered £180 said return it which i received today minus the box with charger etc. Biggest fraudsters going. I await reply on where my box etc is will look into trading standards about their fake lies about the condition of phones to undervalue them.

I was a wee bit wary about the fact handtec offered a much higher price to recycle than any other company but I went for it nonetheless. But lo and behold my phone was judged to be in poorer condition than I had said. Absolute nonsense, wish I had taken a photo of my phone before I sent it in. True case of it being too good to be true.

Buying phones seem a completely different story to selling phones. You get a quote, they pretend your phone is another phone and cut your quote by over half with no leg to stand on to get your actual phone back or the price they quoted. I hope whomever has bought my iPhone is delighted with purchasing something from an absolute scam artist
