I was really happy with the service and thought it was a breeze until I arrived at the airport to collect my vehicle and was informed that I had to pay an additional amount in order to receive the car (four times the original amount). The car company simply said they cannot do anything about it as they receive complaints daily and it's not their fault. When I tried to contact them, Rentalcars.com could not be reached.

No refunds if any car isn't available. Unfortunately, when arriving at the rental location on the day for the car rental, I was then advised that there was no car available and to contact the booking agent rentalcars.com Their customer service could not find my reference and I was told to email. After emailing I did not receive any confirmation of the email. After making an official enquiry via their enquiry form, there was no updates for over a week. Using their livechat they said I might need to wait for up to 28 days ...this happens to also be the limit of which to make a claim with the bank.

Booked a car through them, Booking said pick up from the Airport, they have no spot at the airport, Enquire few people no one knows about the company, called them no answer for half an hour 45 minuts, then booked another car and after an hour they rang back saying they were busy, and happy to cancel the booking but no refund, Please do waste your money like I did.....hope they improve their service rather then cheat people

Booked a car through them. No car was available as rental office was closed when to collect. Told us to sort ourselves and that they would cover cost for taxi and new car rental difference upon receipts. Been proving almost impossible to get refund after 2 weeks despite all receipts, etc.. . Their young staff read a script to make excuses and do not care whatsoever about customers. Unless you want trouble and extra cost, do not go near them

Poor Customer Service. We were not able to get our car and paid triple price to rent it from another Company. They don't agree on any refund and still trying to charge my card with additional transactions

Can’t get a refund even when the car was not released to me and instead of the customer service trying to help you to get your refund they give a run around. It is a challenge to get your money back and can’t find their phone number anywhere. I had to search for an hour on the website and also to email. Communication is very poor.

Very disappointing. I should have visited facebook earlier to see how bad this company actually is. They will not allow me to pick up the car due to an unimportant technicality; I do not own a credit card myself but offered multiple workarounds that would have ensured the safety of the company and would have covered costs in case of damage. Workarounds that other companies in the past have accepted without a problem. But Rentalcars.com offered no support, no solutions, and proceeded to shoot down my efforts/solutions. The solutions and suggestions that I offered should have been given to me by them. Although the Chat-Supporter (Paul) wanted to stay professional, I did not feel like he wanted to help me at all. Simply repeating "No, this won't work/that won't work". They also will not refund me. Very disappointed. Can't recommend it!

This is a review of the Panek office in Kaunas. We rented a car as always through rentalcars.com. We chose the premium class (Volvo V60 or similar) online. First, we were shocked when we arrived at the Panek office and they didn't accept my visa card because the expire date is less than 12 months (my card is still valid for the next 10 months). I was charged €25 a day for insurance. Second, instead of getting a premium class (Volvo V60 or similar), they gave me Dacia Duster. I was in complete shock. I couldn't believe it. When I told them that this is a mistake, they said no you actually are getting the better car (Dacia vs Volvo). Also, was no water for wipers and the tank was not full (approx 20L less), but on the documents, he stated it's a full tank. Thanks for all the reviews as I will be very careful when I am returning the car after 3 weeks. The only good thing I was forced to pay full insurance and now I don't need to worry about charges of thousands of euros for fake damages/scratches as others. Next time I wouldn't trust Rentalcars.com as it looks they are not checking who they partnering with.

CAREFUL SCAM! HIDDEN CHARGES. This site will indicate a rental price for you, and when you've paid they will tell you that there are more charges to pick up the car. I had to pay 50% more! Do not use this site

I'd never recommend this third party. One star is too much. I'd never recommend this third party, better book directly from the rental car. They will take you quickly to the payment and later on you will be surprised with the real conditions that you have to fulfill, if not your money is gone and you will call and call again which will costa you extra money because they are in UK and while calling you will listen first to their advertisement of insurances which will costs you and then you will get angry low paid customer services.... They accept my MasterCard debit for €96,97 and 40min later I arrived at the rental car they said MasterCard debit is not acceptable. I called 4 times rentalcar.com (the call costs money because their offices are in UK). Later on I tried email and they said "you should have read important information". I checked later on I realized that the "important information" where this condition is mentioned is on small corner writing in small transparent bleu and you will not approve it if you didn't click on it.

Rentalcars.com is a scam. I have booked a car rental through Rentalcars.com with a pickup at the Warsaw Airport. It turns out Rentalcars.com does not have any offices in Poland, they don’t even have any cars. Rentalcars.com is a "middle-man" online only company from Great Britain. Rentalcars.com does not have any vehicles to rent. They use other (real) car rental companies to fulfil their bookings. Rentalcars.com charged my credit card $901.10 about a month before my trip, but Rentalcars.com did not pay the local car rental company in Poland. I supposed to pick-up a vehicle from Warsaw Airport from an agency Rentalcars.com designated to fulfil my booking. But when I landed at the Warsaw Airport and went to the designated location, I discovered that that companies’ office has been closed for about two months. I did not get the vehicle, but Rentalcars.com kept my $901.10 claiming that I did not show up. Check Better Business Bureau, you will be surprised what you see.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! My partner booked a hire car through rentalcars.com. When she couldn’t collect, we tried to change the name on the booking, but we were told we couldn’t but if we cancelled and rebooked we would get a refund on the original booking. 4 months later we have now been told it is not being refunded. The second booking we made under my name we booked an air conditionEd car as it was 32*C and they supplied one with broken air conditioning, again told us in no uncertain words, where to go!! Do not use them!!!!

In July 2020, I rented a car with Rentalcars.com for a month. Due to an emergency, I had to leave the location for ten days and brought the car back to Firefly (actual car rental company) who charged only for 10 days of rental. Just to find out that Rentalcars.com kept the rest of the rental money (20 days). I sent Rentalcars the Firefly termination contract where it is clearly stated that they charge only for days used. I was extremely surprised of their total lack of flexibility in these times of pandemic where all services are being extra flexible on changes and emergencies.

My wife and I had rented a car using rentalcars.com. The pickup was at CTA Airport (Sicily). The company we chose was GoldCar. The kind and available (yet helpless) representative could not fix the issue created by rentalcars.com allowing to rent a car despite not having the mandatory prerequisites for a successful rental (International Driving License). Before anyone could checkout on the site, there must be a full-page, blocking overlay where users can't proceed further unless they had fully read and confirmed with more than one checkbox under the message stating "TO RENT THIS CAR YOU MUST HAVE AN EU-ISSUED DRIVING LICENSE. ANYONE LIVING OUTSIDE THE EU MUST HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP THE CAR! In short: My wife rented the car and is a US citizen. She was never told she MUST HAVE an INTL. Driving License in order to be able to pick up the car at GoldCar therefore we found out at the teller on the day we went to pick up the car!!! In addition the idiotic policies at the broker, made it impossible to use myself as the driver on my wife's rental as they required the renter to have an Intl. driving license... even if the main driver on the rental was a perfectly qualified driver... Absurd! I have an Italian driving license as I am dual citizen (IT-US) hence would fully qualify to pick up and drive the rental! But no! We had to cancel the rental so I could rent the car under my name. Being out of options we tried... Guess what... No cars were available because my wife still "held" the un-rentable car and no other ones where available that day! More absurdity. So the we were basically forced to cancel or there would be no cars for me to rent... but that's not all! We could not know if there was and what would be the difference in price until we could actually make a reservation for that very same car... and obviously we could not do it via the agent at the GoldCar teller or ourselves... the rentalcars.com agentwe had to call in the UK would do it... the additional nonsense of having to call international made costed us an additional 10 Euro. Truly Revolting!) So once canceled we would have to get a new rental policy and... surprise-surprise... instead of passing the existing rental my wife got for 150 Euros few weeks earlier, it would have to be a brand new one at the cost of 800 Euros for the same car that was ALREADY waiting for us to pick it up! Sheer insanity! So in the end... massive loss of time and money even more massive inconvenience! We lost our rental, we lost 50 Euro to pay a cancellation fee that was not caused by us but by rentalcars.com (we didn't want to cancel to begin with!) not to mention the problems that the loss of the reserved car meant. From having to waste money on bus transportation as we wasted a trip from AG to CT and back (since the 2 visiting relatives could have come to AG themselves), to wasting the whole day between bus rides and later car rides as we had to drive back to AG so we could pick up a car that luckily a family member was able to lend us. That also meant to canceling a previously scheduled visit to Syracuse, (due to wasting the entire day riding buses and driving back to Noto) as well as dealing with the issues created by these incompetents and scammers of a broker! Incidentally, sorry businesses in Syracuse, we couldn't come and spend money there thanks to the subject of this review. So we were left without the much needed transportation means, had to cut and re-schedule our tour of Sicilian cities we were going to visit, we had to waste time and get frustrated for the aggravating experience. I really can't recall an experience that was more horrendous and unpleasant than this one with rentalcars.com. Never, never, never again! Stay as far as you can from these disaster-waiting-to-happen of a company! Regrettably we can't rate it in the negative numbers as they truly deserve. Nobody has ever been a more deserving recipient of a minus 5 stars rating than them! Shame on rentalcars.com their disgraceful site, policies and services.

We have booked a car for 17th of August with rentalcars.com, however the company has not booked a car with the local provider. There was no car available and after 3 hours of waiting and non-stop calls ( on hold) with rentalcars - the local company found something else for us. We had to pay the upgrade price ourselves, which rentalcars promised to fully reimburse. However after a month - I am still waiting to be refunded. Not only they have ruined half of the day of my holiday, and incurred extra costs for me, but they are trying to avoid reimbursement still. I would not recommend anyone to go through this hell that this company made and is still making me and my sister go!!!

NEVER EVER BOOK A RENTAL CAR THROUGH THESE LYING PEOPLE. I booked my rental car in Jan. for Sep. to Dublin, IE. Due to COVID-19, I had to change my booking from Sep. to Mar. However, I was told to call back closer to the date three times. The second time, I was told that I would be reimbursed for my $65 dollars if I call back Sep. 8th., and wait to see if they had a car to accommodate my same price so I wouldn't have to pay triple my original price. WELL, THEY LIED because I just called them, they didn't have a car to accommodate me, and they said that they couldn't reimburse me for my $65. WAIT A MINUTE, it's not my fault that there's a pandemic and thank you, rental.com for lying and misleading a customer. You'll be a fool to rent from this rip off company. I looked at other websites and their prices are no where near as high as this company. Beware of this company's lies and manipulation and go with a different company FAST!

In summary Do not use this company services it nearly ruined a 10 day vacation. What happened I rented a car on rentalcars.com for a trip in Italy. I paid everything with my UK debit card. The quality/price was very convenient because I booked 3 weeks in advance. On the day of the pick up when I arrived to the rental agency: noleggiare.it , I was unable to get the car because i need a CREDIT card (not debit card) , company policy. I know it was written in the summary email, but since I rented car many times and I never had such a problem of debit / credit card, I didn't pay attention to it until the last moment. Basically i was left without a car for the 10 days road trip. After 1 hour of conversation with Rentalcars.com customer service i managed to get refunded for the previous car and have a new one the only problem was that i spent almost £900 for a lower level car instead of £500 as I initially booked. For users: I suggest to deal directly with the cars companies if you find a good deal on rentalcars.com. And for rentalcars.com you need to make sure that a user paying with a debit card can't book a car from a company that accept only credit cards.
