“I have banked with the Halifax for many, many years, however service has gone down hill. Branches closing, staff rude, customer service practically non existent. Check Halifax on Trust adviser before opening an account or dealing with them.”

“Have banked with the Halifax for many years - savings, investments, mortgages etc. However recently very poor customer service. My wife and I received letters stating that one of our saving accounts was due to close and to visit local branch to discuss and change as necessary.
This we did only to be told that nothing could be done as it had to be done online. Explaining and showing the letter stating that we needed to visit the Plymouth branch, was told that Halifax policy had changed. Explaining that we had made a specific trip to resolve our issue. The branch manager was called over.
He was abrupt and rude, stating that it had to be done on line. I asked how we could make a complaint - we were told that any complaint made would be ignored. Very dissatisfied customer.”
“My mother of 90 years who doesn't have WiFi rang Halifax to close her account and have her money transferred to her NatWest account. The lady said you can't close your account without a pin number she said she will send one then she can close her account. Five days later the pin number arrived. She then rang Halifax to close her account. The lady this time said you have to write to the account closing team. She wrote to the team saying she wants to close her account. When she got the reply it said she will have to send proof. So she sent proof of photo driving licence, disabled letter, and council tax letter. Then two weeks later another letter saying she needs to send utilities bill and more. It has been over eight weeks and they still won't transfer her money. She is now in hospital with a broken leg and shoulder after falling down and Halifax said she can close her account in the Halifax bank which is 15 miles away and she is bed ridden. What a disgusting way to treat old people just to keep their money. I have three accounts in Halifax and now closing them. Beware any old people Halifax will do their best to keep your money.”
“I was so convinced by their services that I even went ahead and recommended them to others. However, all of it turned out to be a cruel joke on me when I decided to withdraw my entire investment. They told me to pay a whopping 50% of my investments and profits along with some other commissions, when I refused, they quickly shut me out and blocked my access to my account, then it dawned on me that these guys are swindlers and professional thieves, Thankfully, GALWAYRELIANCE stepped in and assisted me in recovering my losses from them within a few days.”

“I was extremely disappointed in this company when I was asked to invest, which I eventually did. Over time, I made a huge profit, which made me happy because anyone in my position would be pleased with a successful investment. However, when I tried to initiate a withdrawal, I was denied without any explanation. This prompted me to contact their support service, where I was informed that I needed to pay a certain amount to make a withdrawal. I found this to be unacceptable.

“Awful experience! Wanted to make a payment to a merchant that I have always made payment to. Only for Halifax fo block my card. Wanted ID and a photo. Gave passport and took a snapshot of me. It took over an hour waiting for verification. Completed verification and then went on to ask more security questions etc. I was so frustrated with the process. The CS person was nonchalant. Said "you can take your business someone else" when I politely said not happy with the quality of service. He appeared demotivated and didn't care. I will be opening another account but not with Halifax.”

“Received letter from Halifax about my bonus saver needing to be renewed by October. On the letter, it gave options for logging in, telephone banking or to book an appointment at branch. Decided to go to the bank, was told that even though there is an option to book appointments, they do not do this anymore and soon the option will be removed from correspondence!! So, I phoned Halifax, bright and early next morning, to be told I should renew the bonus saver closer to the date. So, why did they send out a letter clearly stating that "I could renew at any time I want and will get the interest rate on the day I choose to do this", their wording. A total waste of time, both occasions I have dealt with Halifax this week. They used to be a good bank, with very nice staff, but now they seem to have no time for people who do not want internet banking. I presume if we all had internet banking, staff would not have to deal with customers anymore.”

“I have been a loyal customer of Halifax for many years, but my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. If you are unfortunate enough to encounter contactless fraud, do not expect them to help you, even if you have strong, objective evidence that it wasn't you. Their lack of proper investigation, poor customer service, and refusal to acknowledge the possibility of fraud is embarrassing for a bank.
I urge anyone considering Halifax to think twice and avoid them at all costs. They sent my new credit card to my old address, sent letters to outdated email addresses which they shouldn't even store due to GDPR, and repeatedly addressed me by the wrong name.”

“Been trying for 3 weeks for a paper copy of my current account monthly statement and I have had nothing but lies from Halifax, its lost in the post, the rubbish excuses they come out with. Now I will have to close my accounts with the Halifax bank and go to a bank that are more helpful without the paper statement I can't get my private pension paid into my account, as the pension company won't release the money and they won't accept an electronic statement for security reasons. Bye bye Halifax bank thanks for nothing.”
