I wish I could put a 0 start!!! It has been worst experience I’ve ever have with any company. After waiting for then to send me a recovery car 7 hours I finally manage to take a taxi but my van still there 12 hours later. I have called 20 times and last I had to hang out as the put me on hold for over half an hour. WORST EVER BREAKDOWN COMPANY!!!

Broke down 5.30 am called rac after number of calls 10.5 hr later they turn up when questioned on a numerous times i called them after being on hold several times over 55min to be told sorry mis communication from different department havent never used them before joiner 2mth ago appaling service never recommend this un caring company

I can’t provide a zero star option!!! Left at roadside for 7 hours.First patrol van pulled up behind me then drove off, came back 30 minutes later to tell me I needed a flat bed truck which unless I paid an additional £107 on top of what I’m already paying, I would be left there. They knew that at 8.45am !! Roadside blackmail. Left on a massive roundabout , thank Goodness for the police who pushed me up onto a grass verge across a pavement, which I then blocked all day. RAC now won’t even reply to my emails

We have just had excellent service from one of your patrolmen. My car didn’t start this morning - a major problem as we are an elderly couple and I am the full carer to a 93 year old, so I need a functioning car. After some difficulties ( why do you not have a straightforward phone number for emergency any more? ) I managed to report this on line. Dean rang us, came promptly, diagnosed the problem, and got the car working again with a new battery. He was pleasant, friendly, and very thorough and efficient. Thank you very much, Dean.

My daughter broke down last night on the M8 motorway(Glasgow) just before Kingston Bridge at this part of motorway there is 20ft concrete walls either side, leaving her no where to stand behind barrier, she phone RAC (member since 2007) @ 19:15pm. They said they would have a flatbed truck out ASAP as it’s such a dangerous spot high priority! After a number of phone calls to the RAC she was still standing there beside her at 23:00pm eventually she organised her own recovery. She was advised my me her father to inform Police Scotland to sit behind her till someone came, Police did arrive had a look and drove off! The time my daughter was waiting I was calling RAC to find out what was going on the first call took 29mins to answer the second call @ 10:45pm took them 56 mins 46 sec to answer. This is the worse service ever not interested in your safety or recovering your vehicle. Was of money!!! Will be taking this matter further. Disgraceful service.

Had to wait over 3 hrs just to hear we can’t get a van out to you so we shall send a truck over 8 hrs in the middle of nowhere in the dark don’t waste your money

Broke down and asked for help. Told no one available but they can recover the vehicle. That’s no good when I’m away with work and home is 100 miles away. It was a easy repair. Off to green flag. Suggest you do the same.

Phone communication not fit for purpose. 9hrs from call out and still stuck in car , using flatbed relay teams, keep ringing and the RAC still cannot understand their own job notes, leaving the RAC ASAP

I needed them twice and both times they made me wait over the night 12 and 16 hours respectively. Horrible service.

The worst experience of my life, called RAC at 1am for road side recovery, have had no one get in touch till 4am so called back for them to tell me it will be 6:30am when someone gets to me, now its 7:30am and iv called again for them to tell me no one could get to me.. cause its so ‘busy’ and now iv been given the time of 8:30am

Called at 6pm & waited 2.5 hrs for patrol vehicle. Problem with coolant. Found to have a slight leak. Topped up with water & advised would be able to make my 100 mile journey home but would have to stop frequently to check coolant reservoir level & if necessary top up with water . Did as advised & stopped at garage after 20 mins. Could see reservoir was empty from looking at it. Didn't want to chance driving further without getting it checked again. Called RAC again & was on the phone to them for 25 mins as call handler couldn't locate petrol station I was at. I was called back by a supervisor who eventually located where I was & said I would be put as a priority & a recovery vehicle would be with me within 90 mins. Numerous text messages were sent telling me I would get an update in 30 mins. At 23.15 I rang & was told I would have a 4 - 5 hour wait !!! How is this acceptable treatment for a lady on her own ? Eventually I got a call from an independent recovery service at 12.15am to tell me somebody should be with me within an hour. I would like to add this man I spoke to was lovely, very sympathetic & apologetic for the long wait even though it wasn't his fault at all. After many many years of being an RAC member this has to be by far the very worst experience I have had with them & I can honestly say I will not be renewing my membership with them again.

After 8 hour wait the patrol car had still not turned up. Let down badly but the RAC now looking for breakdown cover elsewhere.

Cant believe what's going on - so disappointed and disillusioned with them been member for over 30 years waiting over 5 hours and no show - had to make my way back to vehicle the next day. Managed to get it home but it needed to go to a main dealer....I pay a premium for recovery to anywhere had to have a day off work yesterday for vehicle pick up - no show - am still waiting this morning - more time off work. They just don't seem to care - I did complain and was offered a discount ..... but is it worth it for the stress!!! Definitely "no stars"

Absolutely disgusting service! Never ever had a company make me feel so utterly worthless and cause me so much stress that I barely slept or ate for days trying to get my issue sorted. And to top it all off I get completely ignored and pushed aside when I’ve tried to make a complaint! I feel like taking my story to the papers, I’m sure there will be an army of customers who would happily join me! Disgraceful service

Do not pay any of your well earned cash to this shambles of a company they advertise 4 out of 5 vehicles are attended to within 30 minutes. Rang in for assistance today at 2.24pm told could be 2-4 hours maximum. Rang again at 4.34 to track progress was told latest they would arrive was 6.24. Rang again at 6.30 to be told running a little behind. It’s now 9.35 and still no show. Been with them since 2014 will most certainly not be renewing EVER.

My elderly father broke down and called RAC at 9am. 2.30pm and they still haven't arrived. Its a joke considering you pay in full every year. Would not recommend.
