Renewal was sent to my spam and automatically renewed by DD at £100.00 increase which is double the AA membership fee! Requested a full refund but was refused. After loyal membership of over 40 years the response by the RAC was a disgrace. So in summary do not join this organisation under any circumstances

I waited yeasterday for around 2 hours in the middle of a very busy road. The call centre person was very cold but at least gave me a solution and arranged to send somebody. Then, the female staff who finally arrived after around 2 hours was a bully, judgmental and very hostile, which surprised me a lot. My problem was solved but the customer service was very disappointing!

Wouldn't honour breakdown cover despite valid policy from insurance. All I needed after a terrible week scattering a family members ashes. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They will let you down.

I joined the RAC thinking I would have peace of mind if my car ever happened to break down anywhere, boy was I wrong. After 8 years being a member with no breakdowns in this time I was quite lucky, but this week my car broke down with a coolant leak, so I called the RAC for assistance. I had broken down on a dangerous spot and they told me because I was to close to my home (0.12 miles) to be picked up and it would cost £180 for someone to get to me. Because my car was in a very busy and dangerous road and was told by the local authority's to move it to a safer location ( my sister had to tow me) I then contacted the RAC again to let then know that my car was in a safer place but it was further away. They told that it was my first location details that they log down and the new safer location wasn't to be considered even though it was away from any accident hot spot. So why am I paying a monthly bill just to be treated like this. And if I chose the option of them picking me up for the £180 it would still take someone from the RAC 6to 8 hours to get to me. Disgusting Service. Won't be bothering with the RAC ever again, joined the AA now much better benefits and cheaper too.

They autorenew your policy without asking you if you agree to it - it's hidden in the terms. Then refuse to cancel, even on day 1, without a £25 'admin charge '. Massive price hike from the previos year.

Poor Service - Home Breakdown Despite knowing the make and model of my car, you sent someone without the correct diagnostic equipment. The patrol officer said, “they don’t carry Volvo leads.” He then recommended an RAC-approved garage, so we took the car there. They charged us for a repair that didn’t need to be done and did not fix the fault. The car broke down again. When we reported the problem to your RAC-approved garage, they said they’d come out to fix it but failed to show up and are not responding to any further communication. Reporting the problem to your call center this morning, I was told that it was “my choice” to take the car to your approved repair center, essentially suggesting it was my fault for using an RAC-approved garage recommended by a RAC patrol officer. The call center representative was unpleasant and rude. Massively inconvenient, hugely expensive, RAC how can you justify this?

If I could give this company 0 stars I would do. It is the worst customer service I have ever had. I have tried to cancel my policy on a number of occasions and each time it renews automatically and then tells me I am liable to pay for the policy. Last year I paid an amount that was outstanding for a policy I didn’t want only to discover that outstanding payment was used to renew my policy. I have phoned up again today to say I DO NOT want a policy I DO NOT want an auto renew and I want to ensure my card details are not on the system (which they still were) and have been told I need to phone AGAIN as a curtesy to them to ensure that even though I have gone though all of this, can I please call and make sure it has been action incase they renew it by mistake. I think this is appalling customer service. The icing on the cake was when the operator I was speaking to hung up on me because I complained he was refusing to listen to what I had to say and kept all talking over me…..hence leading me to this review!

Logged breakdown at 1800hrs whilst 55 miles from home. Initial response for patrol to attend showed 21:30 - 00:30 . Accepted that things must be busy so sat and waited in the car at the side of the road. At 21:30 the app updated to show attendance time now of 01:30 - 04:30. Car was not safe to driver, fortunately found a B&B nearby , so cancelled original breakdown. Rebooked the breakdown at 0600 next morning, response time 0930-1230hrs - then an hour later had a call from RAC Operator telling me I wasn't covered for the callout and that I should cancel the call and sort it out myself. Refused that advice and said I'd wait for the patrol to attend. Patrol turned up - absolute 100% good guy - couldn't fix it but arranged for a nearby garage to come in to work (Saturday morning) and they did the repair needed. Cannot fault the patrol guy. Logged a complaint, got a single email reply basically saying, erm yeah sorry about that, but wouldn't give any further info about why the original call was going to be 10hrs for them to attend, nor explain why the operator was trying to blag me that I wasn't covered - when the Patrol guy said it was definitely something that was covered. Complaints person then said that was the final communication they would engage in, no further course of remedy . Shocking approach - would not recommend for one minute that anyone subscribes to them

The RAC tilt tray truck #609 driver Eddie from Serin Towing and Recovery is a brilliant operator. Eddie transported a very rare and expensive motorcycle for us after a breakdown. An absolute professional, thanks RAC and thankyou Eddie for looking after our ride.D

My daughter broke down in her works vehicle at 5.15pm today. She rang rac and was told up to 9.15 not 60 minutes as your ad says, since then there have been several updates with the last one being up to 2.40 AM!!!. This is unbelievable and she's on her own on a busy road. She reported another car nearly hitting her bumper and was told it would be escalated and someone would ring her. Have they? Yeah right. Not recommended.
