Yes they took 4 days to recover my car & wouldn't refund me because I'd used their service!

The RAC took 72 hours to recover my car and caravan. Initially they sid 40 min, then 3 texts said the same. 2 hours later, the RAC said help was due immediately. Once I insisted on speaking to a supervisor, he admitted having no service booked for us & arranged a taxi home. It the took 3 more days to get my car & caravan home. Avoid the RAC at all costs, the lie about their ability to provide a service. When I wanted to cancel my contract after a 4 day wait, guess what! Because I had used the service! I couldn't cancel. Please use a anyone but the RAC

I called for breakdown assistance to be told that I was not covered on my policy, and that it would cost me if they called out,so I got help from my local garage at a cost to me,who fixed the problem,I later phoned the rac to be told by another operator that I was covered and they would send a truck out to help me,well it was too late then,my wife and myself are severely disabled and totally rely on the rac to deliver me what I paid for, this is not the first time I have been let down by the rac, many years ago they were very good, but it seems to me they only want your subscription, and then ???my advise look elsewhere if you need car breakdown cover

Waited over three hours for RAC to turn up one evening after being told many times that they were on the way and will be with me shortly. I eventually sorted the problem myself around midnight after you tubing some tips. A few weeks later I had to call RAC again for help as my van wheel had sunk into some thick mud. I wasn’t made aware there would be a charge for this call out when booking the recovery or by the recovery man himself. It cost well over £100 for that call out so I called RAC to cancel my membership once it finishes in two months time. I received an email back from them straight away saying my membership has been terminated straight away and I won’t be due any money back as I’d received a call out in the past year. Absolute joke of a company, terrible customer service. Would NEVER EVER use RAC again!!!!

Absolutely shocking. Left us at the side of the M25 for 6 hours. Lied every time I called stated it’ll be within 40mins multiple times.

After having the car serviced at the dealers a couple of weeks ago and after driving home from work the fuel feed line blew off. RAC were called and identified a school boy error, line not fixed completely, hence blow off. Young man called Shaun quickly fixed the problem. He also gave some great advice . Would recommend 👌 RAC to any one top guy Shaun.

Steering wheel locked on my Saab Estate 7th December. It took 35 minutes for the phone call to be answered and then told it could be 5 hours before help arrived. Sought help elsewhere. Won't be renewing membership. Green Flag it is.

Never ever take RAC breakdown cover. The advisor ( Juliet)told me to book a taxi by myself and go home as they cannot authorise a taxi voucher. So the options for me are , either wait 4 to 5 hours for recovery or go home by a taxi and pay for it !

Never used their funny breakdown recovery service. They decided to renew mu policy and I called 2 days later to cancel. They only refunded half of the amount and the person in the other side of the phone was extremely rude. Never thought they have such a bad customer service! Avoid as it is absolute useless!

Tyre burst on a pothole - family stranger in a dark country Lane. Tried to call RAC - pay £22 a month membership! They put me on hold for over 45 minutes and kept suggesting on hold that we should go their website to let them know about breakdown. The website kept coming up with an error message. In the meantime we called the AA who answered immediately- cancelled RAC there and then.

1st time I've asked for help today. 4.5 hrs later, I'm still waiting. 9 text messages: apologising, excuses etc. Telephoned, 20 mins. on hold. Lady (in Manchester) sounded unconfident: transferred me, which put me back on hold, then cut me off! 2nd phone call, told the 'current estimate' was a further 2hrs till attendance. Escalated to the Customer Solutions Centre, who apparently are telephoning me ASAP. I will be lodging a full complaint: asking for a pro-rata refund, compensation, and cancellation of my policy. AVOID!!!

They really aren't the business they used to be. Been a customer for 12 years. First attempt at home start call +3 hours - had to call to cancel it as I needed to go out. Relogged it - now waiting 3 hours. It seems if you log an issue using the web you are pushed to the back of the queue. Every 30 mins a text to say sorry but we cant attend. They clearly need more engineers in the field but use the excuse of weather and traffic. I won't be renewing...
