Moved to RAC from AA last year, what a mistake. Incorrectly told my 20 y/o they weren't covered and then went on to say 6-8 hours wait at night on motorway.

My campervan had a flat battery because it hasn’t been off the drive for so long. The RAC came within the specified time (up to 90 minutes) and phoned to say where they were when on their way. Did lots of diagnostics, tried to jump start the battery, but it was shot. Fitted another one. No fuss. Very satisfied with this side if the business, but less so with the customer service team afterwards (see separate review).

Took them over 2 hours to come and fix my car.

Absolutely shameful. Left waiting on side of road for 8 and half hours. Terrible communication. No excuses. Do not use them - I have had MUCH better experiences with the AA

Worse service I have come across in my life. Nearly waiting for 8 hours to help me with flat battery. This was my first call in 2 years to RAC after being with AA for 30 years who have always attended under one hour. No chance to renew with RAC

Awful response times. Called them out twice, expected to wait 5 hours with 2 kids in the car in sub-zero temperatures. To top it all off I was charged an admin fee to cancel my policy.

I can not believe the poor service I have had from yourself. Waited 7 hours last night and 8 hours ( and still waiting) today for someone to take my car to the garage. I’ve ended up cancelling due to the garage being now closed. I will just have to pay myself for someone to take it there on Monday. My advice is join the AA 🤬

I did call RAC at 4:30pm and have been told my recovery will be coming within 1h and half.... fine, after 1h I reviving a message saying that my patrol will be coming within 45 Min , fine... Very shortly after I receive a call from RAC, saying how doing, where I want to take may car to, and home many people are with me, I said that I wanted to take my car home and it will be only me with car.... The person over the phone said that all will be sorted within 30 Min... FINE After 45 Min i give them a call and the person over the phone said that my patrol will be with me by 9:40pm ( shocking).... I DID KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!! I WAS ANGRY... likely it was a police officer with me due to keep the road safety... He did ask to speak with RAC, and he managed to get the rescue in at hurry up mode... Around 8:30pm I reviving a call from RAC saying that recovery is on his way and will be with me shortly... But he will not be able to take me with him... So I have to sort myself out to get back home..... WHAT???????? It wasn't summer time it was just about -0 here is the moment that I felt very let down... I thought that if I would choose RAC I will be fine with nothing to worry about it, well I was wrong When the recovery arrived, the guy was super nice and he did understend the situation... He said I will take u home... I was in my car onto recovery truck. I was at home by 10pm... On top of all it was -0 degrees

Waited 3 hours and lots of excuses, so decided to walk in the snow, wind and ice and buy a jump starter to get the car started. I sorted it, not them! They should be paying me money not the other way round. Complete waste of time and money. Goodbye RAC.

My husbands car had a engine management light come on and said do not drive the car he rang rac at 16.00 to be told someone would be with him ASAP but it could be a bit of a wait he explained he is a keyworker and needed to go to work they said he would be put on as a priority he got texts every half hour then got a text saying the patrol is on his way to him after a hour and half wait 30 minutes later another text came though saying the patrol was delayed on another breakdown then had text after text saying sorry still delayed this went on till 20.15 then had a text at 20.45 saying sorry we are still waiting your breakdown as seduced to a dedicated team who will manage this from now on then got a phone call at 23.15 saying that a mechanic with be with you by 02.30 this had been going on since 16.00 hours my husband ended up driving his car with this fault due to being a keyworker and needed to get to work he's ended up booking his car into a garage to rectify this problem rac are the worse breakdown company we have ever been with we are both going back to either the AA or Green flag who arrived as promised and don't make excuses over the phone and never even had a call back to apologise for any inconvenience and the lies which he he was told AVOID AVOID AVOID

Day -1 of unresolved issue. Each day I pop a review on a different site. RAC want you to review on their site so they can remove or "resolve" negative comments. Today it was their FaceBook page and here. Well we switched from Hastings who were brilliant to RAC. Having looked around. We put all our data into the comparison web site correctly then a week later received a letter saying we had not declared an accident I caused and they were upping the price from the original quote of £263 by £160. Throwing in "IF YOU DON'T PAY THE THE DEBT COLLECTORS WILL BE ROUND, KNOCK YOUR DOOR DOWN AND YOUR CREDIT SCORE WILL MEAN YOU'LL NEVER BORROW AGAIN DO PAY IT!!!" Asked where they had received this information about me driving and causing an accident well apparently my last insurer Hastings had given it. Spoke to Hastings who said no you weren't driving and the third party admitted liability. So back on the phone to RAC saying Hastings happy to talk to them but apparently RAC don't do that. So we have an open claim with Hastings but as open RAC say they treat all open claims as both parties at fault. When I asked about the return of the £160 RAC said probably well, "Just depends" whether we feel like it or not as we constantly review rates.. So their letter says £55.00 cancellation fee which is illegal of cough up as the DEBT COLLECTORS would be knocking the door down. Then the final stab In the back the gleeful comment "Your policy will go up regardless of fault anyway ". AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR YOUR DOOR MAY BE KNOCKED DOWN BY DEBT COLLECTORS when it's their fault not yours !!! Please God save me from any more "valid" RAC Premium Increases. Have sent the CUE details to try and have the fact I was not driving (shielding) and third party admission but doubt anything will change but I do feel slightly better copying and pasting this to EVERY review website. NEVER, EVER USE RAC !!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you actually train your "Customer Service Advisors" or employ HMP inmates ? HAHA just received a reply from the Cara at the RAC telling me to fill out their complaint form - hmm, as I already have filled it out I can see me doing this everyday - groundhog day again. Why have the RAC been booted off Feefo ?

I lost £17k with an RAC Car History Check.. Its worthless !! and the treatment I recieved from the RAC was disgraceful! They had even used a TV personality on thier website to advertise the Car Check. It was unauthorised and the TV personality told them to remove it. The vehilce turned out to be a Clone which despite the car check asking you to enter the VIn numbers etc to check it wasnt a clone, in the small print it does not cover clones. The trading standards saidf the Car Check is a worthless product. Many other like me have lost thousands from the RAC Car History Check.

If you have RAC /Barclays travel pack beware . They said I ‘was not covered’ so had to take out a second policy plus call out charge . Response time was 5 hours. When I logged a complaint, the person who I complained about ,,,,arbitrated(!) and of course closed the complaint! RAC do not allow you to escalate a complaint to higher management . A big corporate who cares little for individuals . Poor customer service and lacklustre and lazy communication

My daughter had a blown out tyre on the M40, the RAC where excellent, they told her she was a priority and were there within 45 minutes, he then organised an out of hours tyre replacement firm to come to the car, which was also done within 40 minutes. she was back on the road thanks to both these 2 great gentlemen, who were polite, kind and very professional. Have been a member for 10 plus yrs and wont be changing anytime soon.... Thank you

i cancelled my agreement with RAC by phone. then i kept getting invoices which i stupidly just ignpored thionking it was just because of covid, clerical error. After the third one arrived i called up and explained i had cancelled, they have no record of my call even after an investigation and now they are threatening legal action unless i pay. so tomorrow i will have to pay! Avoid these scam artists at all costs if io were you.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! When I signed up I asked the sales man, can you cover a custom built recovery truck. His answer *YES SIR* broke down tonight, snapped alternator belt, in my iveco daily, 120mph drift truck, which is 19.8 foot long, and 1.78 tin weight, RAC bozo turns up, walks along the side of the truck, *SORRY BOD IT'S OVER 21 FOOT* my response I've got all build docs at home proving it's under 20ft, Now stuck 60 miles away from home, RAC *WE CAN RECOVER YOUR TRUCK AT A COST TO YOU OF £1500 + VAT* I've now rang a contractor who's on the way to get me and my truck home, at a cost of £150 RAC ARE CON ARTISTS!!!!! THERE PATROL GUYS ARE STUPID, I'M A MECHANIC THERE CLEARLY NOT!!!! TAKE MY ADVICE STEER WELL CLEAR.
