Absolutely disgraceful. I was donating furniture and good quality household items from my late parents house. Some items were like new. The collection people took one look at a large display cabinet and said they wouldn’t take it as it wouldn’t sell in store. I was appalled that a charity is turning down good quality furniture and therefore sent them away without offering the other items. I’ll find a charity that actually deserves to have such donations. Would never support this charity again.

I bid on ebay for a sewing machine. I was very excited and happy when I won! When it arrived it absolutely stank of smoking which had not been mentioned on the website. I was totally prepared to put that aside, but then I tried to operate the machine; total nightmare! Nearly everything that could be broken WAS broken. I received a full refund as when the BHF saw my photos they 100% agreed. My point is; the British Heart Foundation is a respected charity and needs to ensure their sellers get it right

Purchased an item of clothing from the Keighley store. Elderly lady on till practically forced me to give a donation on top of the purchase price in their shop today. I said I would see what I have in my purse she suggested £1. I started to put a donation in the collection box, she shut the till and said ‘that will be a no then’! I do not expect to be embarrassed into making a donation, when I have just purchased a donated item. Left feeling offended!

Absolutely dreadful experience today from two BHF employees. They were rude and unhelpful. I had booked several items of furniture to be collected and they refused to take a perfectly good sofa bed saying it wasn’t good enough and a wall unit, which didn’t have a mark on it, they said they wouldn’t be able to sell it and refused to take that. I think they just didn’t want to carry the heavier items down the stairs. I will never donate to this charity again!!!!!

The manageress in Thornbury is not a nice person at all! I’ve donated numerous items to them as my dad died aged 64 and my grandad aged 48 of heart failure

An avoid button would be more appropriate. Rude, then didn’t want the furniture because of a small mark and usual wear and tear. I was told on the phone this would be fine! It had all its fire labels and is not in bad condition plus it is second hand after all! I’m not happy because it’s a good sofa! So now instead of someone being able to get some use out of it, I’m going to have to dump it! Seemingly this charity doesn’t take anything that’s not in perfect condition and it looks like they don’t care much for our environment. Obviously if someone is giving a sofa to charity then there’s a real chance that they need it picked up for new furniture to be delivered. So when they arrange a pick up they should say they only accept things in immaculate condition. Very unsatisfactory and unfair service.

Absolutely terrible service! Booked a collection so they could pick up two bookcases in great condition, as well as barely used clothes, books and DVDs! They confirmed all of this, then told me they couldn't take the clothes, books and DVDs, even though they confirmed it beforehand and they didn't have any complaints about the conditions. Also, they damaged the walls in the hallway when taking the bookcases and for some reason left some of the boards behind without even telling me, my roommate had to let me know that they were blocking the house door hours later!

I have booked for BHF to collect my corner sofa today and they’ve refused saying that the sofa has marks (obviously as it is a second hand one).Tomorrow I have booked for the new sofa to be delivered so it is all messed up. I will never donate to BHF and I will never buy from them again. I am so sorry as it is a big disappointment. I have attached few photos for everyone to see the condition of the sofa they’ve refused! Shame on them!!!!

If I could give a zero rating I would. Booked a collection early last week for very good condition and extremely comfy armchair, complete with fire labels. They arrived today and took one look at it and said they can't take it as it is part of a suite. We bought it as a single chair for our home office but it is now surplus to our requirements. There is no mention on the website that they don't take single armchairs. They are far too fussy about what they take, this could have gone to someone wanting a single chair. I will not be donating anything to BHF ever again. What a waste of time.

Absolute disgrace call themselves a charity shop...booked in a week ago to have my 3+2 leather sofa picked up today for donation...getting a new sofa delivered on Monday so all fitted in perfect...guys came out and told me the charity shop wont take it because the seat cushions are badly marked...if i thought my sofa was that bad i wouldnt even think of giving it to a charity shop...this would of helped someone who is looking for a sofa especially in these hard times and yet this charity shop refused to take it they shouldnt be taken bookings and then people waiting like myself to be told they wont take ...will never use The Heart Foundation again.

Booked a pick up of sofa and armchair by phone to Witney store , man was very helpful and sorted it all for me , delivery drivers came and said it unfit for sale and they wouldn’t be able to make any money on it , all the covers had been washed and both items hoovered , one said it was not new enough , I advised that if it still new I would not be buying another , surely to goodness they would have helped someone out especially at this time of price rises , just as they were leaving one driver said people who buy from charity shops are fussy and don’t want rubbish , I will not donate or buy anything again from such a rude and rubbish company , I thought charities were supposed to help people to recycle but obviously I was so wrong !!!!!!!!!

Lets start with if I could give half a s tar I would. We had arranged for a leather 2 seater recliner to be collected, the men turned up and went away empty handed claiming that the foam in the arm of the chair "was damaged". NO it it was just compressed/worn and needed to be replaced - if at all. Damage is Tears, rips, broken frames, in this case recliner not reclining! I am beyond livid. I wouldn't use you again! What do you expect on your blurb it states Used! Not brand NEW. We have now had to arrange for it to be scrapped. Your Charities loss I am sure will be someone else's find. Doesn't look like I am the only person with this problem. British Heart Foundation, sort your self out and stop being so ungrateful in this day and age!

As real let down, after Booking Collection of 2 furniture items from Doncaster shop, I phoned and said I have several bags and boxes to add. Valuable items. Men collecting at c. 1.30 pm, with and empty truck refused to take as my more than one box, even though I had been told that my request for them to take more was supposed to have been logged. Phoned the store who said the failure to deal with the amendment properly was due to an new, autistic employee. Great. To his left me with a big problem. Delivery men, with an empty to truck at 2 pm did not care one jot about this. Also, I foolishly agreed to Gift Aid when booking the puck up. However, when I found out that is if I don't pay tax I'll have to pay 25% of the value of my donations in a Tax Bill, I cancelled my Gift Aid agreement and have email evidence from BHF if this. Collection staff put a gift aid sticker on the items I was donating. Shop said that the stickers were probably already printed when I cancelled my Gift Aid agreement. Not good enough. Excuses. Thus was a worse than poor, upsetting and stressful process with manpower who showed no interest or gratitude. Never Ever Again. Do not expect anything other than poor service, mistakes and ingratitude if you ever have to donate to BHF.

Selected which items I wished to donate via the website which gave options for all sorts of things. Booked a provisional collection by BHF Andover for a brand new mattress, hardly used fitness machine, boxes of books, brand new pet cage (all of which their website says they are interested in). They phoned me to say they don’t want any of it. They didn’t explain why and when I asked them why they just said we don’t want it and were quite rude. Made me feel a bit embarrassed actually. I’ve now sold all the items on eBay for in excess of £200. This is £200 they could have made. I won’t bother trying to donate to them again.

Terrible experience with a collection today from your Gravesend store. I will never donate or purchase again. Collection had been arranged for 2 large cabinets to be collected. Apparently they were too large?? Also a large double wardrobe ,- yes, you guessed it, too large. These perfectly good items will now have to be thrown away as there's no time to get them collected. Criminal waste and a shame for your stores when you could have made good money from them.

We had an appointment booked to collect our sofa and on arrival they said it wasn't 'fit for sale'. This is in spite of us having it professionally cleaned beforehand, and it was originally bought from British Heart Foundation themselves less than 2 years ago! They were standoffish and appeared not to want to carry it downstairs so came up with excuses. We waited almost a month for an appointment to then have to break up a perfectly good sofa and take it to the tip for no reason because of it being just before having to move out. Feels completely ridiculous and adding to the issue of people just throwing things away. I won't even bother next time!

Booked collection of Gplan dressing table. Was booked 7 days in advance. Spoke with driver day before to confirm time. When the 2 guys arrived they said they wouldn't take it because it wouldn't sell. I had an anxiety attack because I didn't realise they could reject items (i feel like more questions about the condition of the items would help with this) and then they took it anyway! Probably just to get away from me as fast as possible, but it was collected and that's all that matters

Was told that resale value of goods donated would be subtracted from cost of clearance and any disposal. Was then quoted £750 which seemed ridiculously high. I found an alternative community initiative who were delighted to collect my items for free. 2 guys in a Luton van did the whole job in 3 hours.....but BHF wanted £750 on top of the value of my donations? Someone is making money here and I'm not sure it is BHF.
