if I could leave less than 1 star I would !! I have had my policy with domestic and general for 3 yrs. I have never made a claim, but today my chest freezer had stopped working. It has over £400 of raw meat [dogs food] stored inside it, however D&G cant get anyone out to look at for 5 days !! When I challenged them about the food inside, their response is they do not cover the food, only the appliance ! however when I was sold the plan I was told contents would be covered should they be spoiled. I am in such a dilemma, I have tried to search for a second hand freezer but there is none, and I can not afford a new freezer. I will be taking my complaint to the ombudsman once this is over, I will also be cancelling my plan as I feel I have been mislead - this company is a scam, save your money and do not take out their sham plans !!

You wouldn't think that after Scottish Power sold us boiler breakdown and service cover things could go wrong with the actual provider Domestic & General. From start to finish (well they never really started!) the experience was awful. An engineer came round to our house to do an annual service. To my utter amazement the engineer said he could not access the boiler area as there was a cover over it. It required 2 small screws to be removed from the panel and then there would be access. The engineer didn't even try to attempt to get access and left within 5 mins. We received a letter from Domestic & General (D&G) saying the engineer could not gain access to initiate a service and that the cover didn't include removing wooden covers a boiler such as this Worcester Bosch boiler. Surely the engineer must have had experience of this model as it is fairly common. Instead my partner called an independent and they took the 2 screws off and did a service in 45 mins. I explained this to D&G's customer service department and supplied photos to show how the access was gained. They seemed in denial and totally unwilling to take on board the points I raised. After 3 emails to them and letters coming back from D&G (incidentally those took at least 1 week to come through) they said they would not agree to compensation and if I was not happy I should take my complaint to the Ombudsman. Frankly useful. So I cancelled my policy with immediate effect. You couldn't really get any worse from I experienced - they didn't appear to acknowledge the photographic evidence until prompted to look again at attachments sent in emails.

Iam not very happy with the service I reported my washing machine out of action two weeks ago to engineers turned up and told me the machine was not working and they would send a report in. An hour after they left an appointment was sent for two days later 12/03/2000 the engineer asked what was wrong with it I explained that the drum was making a funny noise on inspection he said that they should have order a drum as well as the other bits required. I contacted customer service to be told that my machine was repairable I explained that I have been paying for over 10 years. Iam now left with out a washing machine for how long again .

Absolutely shocking service. Even when I told them what the problem was and what part the machine needed I was told I'm not and engineer and needed one to look at it first when he eventualy arrived and looked it it told me exactly what it said the first time so instead of it been fixed that day Wednesday 4th I had to wait for him to put his report in order the part and they will be in touch. I called them on Saturday 7th because I haven't heard back from them yet and was told the engineer hasn't updated the system yet so now I have to wait till Monday to find out what's going on and will probably take a nother two weeks to fix it would have been quicker to fix it my self they are an absolute ripoff.

Have 6 items with them for over 6 years unfortunately the washer is keep going wrong and they have repaired it several times but it keeps going wrong then on average it takes over a week to get a engineer out which is not ideal been without a washer for so long they don’t care ... the company should be called d and g we don’t care

Terrible service. Don't care about customers. Still without a working appliance. Avoid and save the money in a saving tin and just buy a new one instead when it breaks

Broken fridge 8 weeks later 4 repair agents later still with a broken fridge and no resolution this company is a complete and utter waste of money and time keep going around in circles . I wish I'd never have taken this insurance out .

Plagued with nuisance calls ever since cancelling a policy they 'will not leave my family alone' which two of them have dementia. Dreadful company

I received a letter thanking me for continuing your cover for my Bosch dishwasher. I cancelled the cover in 2017. Phoned to try to resolve this but after trying several times to get through resorted to online chat with Dan who was less than helpful. After explaining the problem and asking him to cancel all I had was 'be with you in a moment ' until presumably it timed out after about 20 minutes. Totally poor service and if you try to take a payment I shall be taking this further.

we have been paying our insurance premiums since 2007 for our washing machine it was written off by the engineer after a 2 week wait we got a choice of 1 washing machine that when it turned up was the completely wrong machine so after 2 hours of being on the phone to D & G I was told that a replacement machine was ordered and would come on Thursday nobody could tell me when the wrong machine would be picked up on the Wednesday evening the delivery company rang to say they had not received the product to deliver to us so more phone calls to domestic and general nobody could tell me why the machine had not been sent just that someone had made a mistake hoover candy rang me on Thursday to say I wouldn't be getting my washing machine that day it would now be Saturday on the Friday the wrong machine was picked up but received no text to give us a collection window the response from the delivery men was they were not given our number to let us know and their comments about domestic and general was they are shambolic and this problem happened all the time well its now Friday evening and wev just had a call from the delivery company they cant deliver our washing machine because again they haven't been sent it so we can not contact any one until Monday we have been lied to and let down all through this whole nightmare process and what is worse we have paid for this appalling service

They have just sorted out a problem with cooker. Booked repair and they sent a "engineer" out to fix it. Span me a yarn about "getting a part" and did a runner never to return. Called D&G to ask what was going on, they found out engineer spun a yarn about job being completed and are now replacing the faulty cooker. I got a very good service from them.

Someone just called me to ask what item i got from argos.apparently they dont really know what item you got insured for when you buy a policy.and i was just asking him a question and he hanged up on me.he just said byeeee.i regret answering his phone call.i have been missing this phone call now i regret picking the call.

Domestic and general don’t bother indesit dishwasher heap of junk I have had three engineers in two weeks . Machine still not fixed engineer today said it was a plumbing fault £50 for plumber to come out and tell me plumbing ok. They still won’t change machine I am stuck with them for another 10 months definitely won’t renew I don’t need this hassle they don’t tell you when they sell policy yes we will give you a replacement but it won’t happen

Booked engineer he ordered part to be fitted 4 days later. Call night before the fit date from Whirlpool hadn’t got part. After several phone calls later part would be another 3 weeks. If that’s the service for being insured it’s unacceptable surely these repairs should have a acceptable time scale. Domestic & general not interested at all said we just pay the invoice. Ordered a new machine not worth the wait and won’t be insuring with D& G

Sent me terms and conditions info 4 years out of date. After 4 requests to email me current ones nothing came. Log on to my account and found it listed current charges but on a 2013 payment schedule! Call centre can’t access data or relevant info. Very very poor..

Online portal, inaccessible when I wanted to report 2 appliances which have broken down. Called the following morning, 17/02/20, the Agent at first made me aware will need to transfer me as to book the repair to my swan cooker but booked the appointment for my Indesit washing machine, asked a question, I answered, whilst answering he stated to talk as well, I am still answering, I stopped talking and asked him to repeat since had not heard, he hung up😱, he was not very professional from the beginning, however due to the long wait, website not working, therefore this would have been done online, I simply called back and cancelled the policy, will but new appliances or go to British Gas.

The engineers came to assess the TV a day after I rang. They were polite and efficient and assessed the problem and the solution while they were there (replacement TV needed). There was a couple of minor delays between the engineers that assessed my TV D&G so getting a replacement took a matter of a day or two longer than perfect. Customer services were very helpful throughout. I'm happy.
