this company are thief's stay away. my daughter took a policy with them and i paid the initial payment with my debit card as my daughter was waiting for her salary. She then gave them her card details for all future payments. they were explicitly told not to use my card details again as it was not my policy, guess what? they have taken 2 further payments off my card and refuse to take my card details off their records and are refusing to refund me. I have complained with no response from them now a week later and i get cut off each time I ring, while writing this review i have been cut off twice again by Shannon who works on customer service each time i have requested to speak to mell on extension 4891 who took my original complaint

I had the miss fortune of have to make a claim for my bike being stolen. I main a claim and they continously failed to return phone calls. Constantly held my claim up not informing me when they needed documents or information even after they finally agreed the amount they was going to pay out they then made yet another mistake and and paid the wrong about to me. Incompetent is the only way to describe them

4 months ago I had accident on my bike, the worst insurance I have ever had to deal with, never return calls, told me value of my bike £6300, after millage was taken into account, was £5870. 2 times, at start of claim, now 4 month later say its only worth £5040,,thats about 20percent lower valuation, for no reason,my bike is full service history and A1 condition, everything renewed in last 18 months, including £2000 or new paint work, and if I want to buy back it will cost me 45 percent of that, they are thieves, don't ever insure with them, over 40 calls, told lots of times they would call back, not once have they called me, sent email to complaints department asking for call back, nothing,, as normal, financial ambusman now involved, still waiting, I now call every day to be told a load of rubbish, and stil no return calls and no sign or ending this night mare, if you have any brains stay away from this joke outfit,, if not you will be sorry,,

I never thought that I could experience such appalling Customer Service as i have received from this company. If I was allowed to give zero stars I would and that would be generous. I have had exactly the same experience as the previous review, almost identical. 4 months since I reported the theft of my bike and have yet to receive a settlement. Since then they have sent me incomplete requests for information, requested documents already in its possession (i.e. V5), they are now asking for the Service History. I have agreed a sum over a month ago but now their compliance dept is dealing with my claim. I have also raised a compliant with them and the Financial Ombudsman. I would like to know where all the reviews on their website, giving 5 stars come from and how to put a review on there. They are nothing short of being thieves themselves, they may as well stolen my bike.

Absolutely appalling insurance - Stay away!! Almost 3 months since I reported the theft of my bike and have yet to receive a settlement. Over the last 3 months MCE sent me incomplete requests for information, requested documents already in its possession (i.e. NCB proof) and worst of all, after FINALLY sending me a settlement proposal (which only came through after I initiated a complaint) backtracked on the mutually agreed sum as my stolen bike had been recovered by the police. 75 days since my bike was stolen, I am still on foot and waiting for a payment on a very straightforward theft claim.

I joined the FS1E Owners Club 8 months ago and after restoring my FS1E asked the club for a good insurance company. MCE were recommend. I contacted them and they just sent me a firm; no message, just the form (like fill it in and we might take ya money, we might not). No reply so I contacted them again; and again before them put my enquiry to their "action team". It might just have been their "no-action team" as I've heard nothing from them. I'm sorry but I can't resist this "Jeremy Kyle moment"... What a bunch of useless ***** ***** ******** and non caring idiots. (sorry).

Read the small print my fellow motorcyclists. This company will not pay any cover on a motorbike if it is stolen and the steering lock was not engaged. You can have the most expensive Thatcham approved lock, disc lock or chain but unless you have put on the steering lock......an anti-theft device that most 10 year olds could break. Your claim for damages will not be honoured by this bunch of highway bandits. They have no intention of supporting you in that very difficult time when some shady critters steal your beautiful ride. The only way to deal with companies like this is to avoid them completely. Pay the extra £50 to a company that has good reviews from many of our fellow motorcyclists believe me it will be worth it should you ever have a need to call on the support of your insurance company.

Avoid this company: they charge a cancelation fee of £32 where they have stated in their terms and conditions and then they again charge you £28 for broker cancelation fee. Incredeable, it seems they do like to double their profit from nothing!

Avoid like the plague unless you are happy/acknowledge what you are getting. I went direct to them for my insurance quote of £288 but was involved in a non-fault collision 3 months later. They have massively failed for me on 2 separate issues; 1 - I contacted them to inform them of the accident and they explicitly told me I only had 2 options, either go through their solicitors who would charge me a 25% fee for any compensation recovered (even for damaged kit etc) or I could go via MCE themselves which would effect my NCB and would require paying the excess (even though the other driver has accepted 100% of the blame). However, I then found out in a non-fault accident that you could go direct to the 3rd parties insurer - which I did and recovered 100% of my losses with no impact on anything. 2 - When I contacted the insurer to cancel the remainder of the policy and seek a refund, they only gave me back £14 (yes, fourteen pounds) from my £288 policy, despite the accident happening 3 months from starting the policy and my cancellation phone call happening 3.5 months after the policy started. This is because apparently they charged me a £90 "brokerage" fee which isn't technically part of the insurance policy (yet conveniently included as part of the policy price and not clearly broken down), so my actual insurance fee is only £198, they then only give back 37.5% of the insurance policy at the "up to 4 months" point (which I actually think is fair enough), but they then take another brokerage fee of around £30-35 (because apparently charging me £90 just to start the policy just isn't enough) and finally an insurance cancellation fee of around £25. So there you go, they may be one of the big names and they may give you a decent price for the policy, but if you are unfortunate to have your bike written off completely at no fault of your own, be prepared to get almost nothing back from them.

Got a good deal on my insurance but after 2 emails & a phone call to point out that my insurance document stated that I passed my test in May 1996 when the details that I gave them stated that I passed in December 1981 and was promised that all would be updated still no change a month later & no replies to my emails, go somewhere else I would rather pay the extra for good service than a bunch of cowboys that can't follow up on their promise or even reply to emails about serious mistakes on their part that could invalidate my insurance.

Do not go near these people. They will screw you any way they can. It doesn't matter how often you ring them or who you speak to, you can expect no help. Take your money elsewhere.

The recovery service is unsatisfactory I was recovered by them it was after opening hours of the bikes dealership. The recovery company dropped me off with the bike at my home address "call in the morning to arrange another recovery time because the dealership is closed and the bike could not be dropped we will do it again" I was told by the driver. On the morning to rearrange delivery I explained the dealer was closed @6pm and the bike was not able to be dropped of so I would like it taken there again. I was told by MCE I should have left the £12500 bike out side over night, a bike that on the policy has to be garaged at night, after this I will be not using MCE if the are cheaper or recommended them to anyone.

MCE IS CRAP, ROGUES, SCOUNDRELS, AVOID THEM LIKE HELL!!! WHEN MY MOTORBIKE GOT STOLEN, THOSE PEOPLE TURNED MY LIFE INTO A LIVING HELL AND RIPPED ME OFF EVEN FURTHER INSTEAD OF ANY HELP!!! DOING IT OPENLY, ARROGANTLY, LAUGHING AT MY FACE!!! ********************************************************************* When I signed up to MCE, I took their TOP COMPREHENSIVE plan for a motorbike, which included theft insurance. There came a day when my motorbike was STOLEN. I declared the theft to the police and to MCE. The woman from MCE I talked to told me that I had to wait two weeks in case the motorbike would be found. She said that if the motorbike was not found, MCE would pay me the price of a new one. Indeed, my motorbike was found by the police within 2 weeks. It was abandoned by the thieves, badly damaged and half-destroyed. The police sent me a letter stating that the vehicle was at the Police Pond and needed to be collected within 10 days, and that they were charging me a daily fee for the storage. I called MCE, and they reassured me that because I was paying the comprehensive plan including theft protection, they would collect the motorbike from the Police Pond themselves, have it repaired and deliver it back to me at no cost. That day, it sounded like paradise. I was not even realising that the real HELL was only starting. Weeks were passing, but nobody was collecting my motorbike from the Police Pond. I started calling MCE to get some news, but the Christmas period was approaching, and one would need up to an hour or two now just to get through to them, let alone the horrendous number of options to type (press #1, press #5, press #3... you know the drill). Five or six times I called MCE would tell me that my motorbike would be collected "tomorrow", but then absolutely no news again. After two weeks I called the Police Pond, who told me that MCE had shown up once, but had the wrong van and equipment on them (like they did not know which motorbike make it was), so they gave up and left without any further notice. MCE finally collected my motorbike about three weeks later, without providing me with any updates, and by now forcing me to call them almost every day, wasting up to an hour to reach them. EVEN THEN, THE HELL WAS ONLY STARTING. About three weeks later, MCE contacted me with a quote for the repairs of the damaged vehicle. Their quote came to £2,000, and then they nicely informed me that despite my "top comprehensive" insurance plan I had an excess policy of £1,900... so they would expect me to pay £1,900 and they would pay £100. Astonished to find out about that excess policy (that nobody had even mentioned to me when I was setting up my insurance plan), I went back to my contract with MCE to try to find where it was stated, and after going through all of their documents finally found one small line "MCE1 - £1900.00,MCE6,MCE7,MCE9,MCE14,MCE15,MCE16,MCE106 (see table below)". That's all. IT ALL CLEARLY LOOKED LIKE MCE WERE BRINGING BUSINESS TO THEIR BUDDIES. As my confidence in MCE started dropping, I asked them for a document describing the damage to the motorbike, so that I could ask for a quote from another repair shop. It took me another two weeks and a dozen of new phone calls (each on average a half-an-hour to get through) to finally get such a document out of them. My own dealer gave me a quote of £1,200 for the repairs (compared to the £2,000 quote from MCE), so I called MCE to say that I would prefer to have the bike repaired by another shop. MCE told me that in that case I would have to cancel the claim with them, pay them claim cancellation fees (about £400), pay for the 3 weeks of storage fees at the police pond, make all arrangements myself to collect the motorbike back from Bedfordshire where they had taken the bike, and have it delivered back to London at my own expense. AT THAT POINT THE WOMAN FROM MCE (NICKY) WAS PRACTICALLY LAUGHING AT MY FACE, REMINDING ME THAT WHICHEVER OPTION I TAKE, THEY WOULD RIP ME OFF ANYWAY NOW. I tried to reach their line managers several times to complain. That only resulted in an extra 3 weeks of my case being "studied by the management". Three more weeks during which they would never give me any updates, and it would take up to an hour every time to reach them on the phone again. After three weeks, I finally managed to negotiate at least the pond fees and to have the bike delivered back from Bedfordshire to London. THEY STILL MADE ME PAY ABOUT £400 TO CANCEL THE CLAIM. Someone called me to collect the payment (when it comes to collecting payments, MCE are really efficient) and told me to wait for the news from their delivery service. Needless to say, I had to call again several times to get any news from the delivery service. ANOTHER HELL STARTED FROM THAT DAY. I kept calling to get any updates on the delivery date, but they were only telling me that now that my claim was cancelled, the delivery was handled by their partner, and they were assuming no responsibility over it. When I was trying to reach their partner (several times getting hanged up upon), they could barely speak any English, and always promised me "tomorrow"... yet nothing would happen "tomorrow". I would call back again and again, and they would promise "tomorrow" again and again. THAT KEPT GOING ON FOR ANOTHER MONTH. ********************************************************************** IN TOTAL: - MCE HAVE KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS - HAD ME CALL THEM DOZENS OF TIMES GOING THROUGH HELL TO GET THROUGH - MADE ME WASTE DOZENS OF HOURS OR DAYS ARGUING WITH THEM - LAUGHED AT MY FACE AND BLACKMAILED ME - MADE ME PAY THEM £400 - DID NOT HELP ME OUT WITH A PENNY ********************************************************************** If you want the same thing to happen to you, then MCE is your choice.
