I love go outdoors. Been a loyal customer for years... IN STORE!!! I never leave reviews but this has bugged me. Over the space of around 2 months and about 4 orders, I’ve had numerous items of clothing refunded randomly, with no reason as to why and no emails explaining which items were being refunded. I’ve Had to keep ringing up every single time to ask which item had been refunded, and that comes with long delays on the phone, and another 2/3 weeks waiting for my money back. . No emails, no explanation. It happened that many times I put a complaint in, which I received a reply but no compensation. My most recent order was 2 coats. i received the Email to pick coats up, but when I turned up at the shop, only one coat was there... same issue as before (But this time no refund and email stated it had arrived in store???). I immediately called asked for my refund. 2 weeks later... no refund.. Apparantly the person had “forgot to initiate payment”. The other coat which was included in that order was sent back 3 weeks ago and I’m still waiting of a refund for that aswell. I haven’t received any acknowledgment of my return, they keep hanging up on me due to busy lines on the telephone, and they won’t respond to emails. So now I’m £60 down and a very irritated go outdoors (X)customer, who will NOT EVER shop there again. Very annoyed.

Absolutely disgraceful company. Customer services are rude. Asked how I correct an error in my email after initial order told can't, mobile and home number mixed up and they send texts to my home phone, called and asked for this to be sorted told they can't. Ordered some items and called immediately to make minor amendment and told can't. Absolutely pathetic, really annoying and customer service staff are very rude and patronising. Rather buy from a real supplier!

I used to enjoy shopping at Go Outdoors until the experiences of this last week whereby we are now finished due to beyond pathetic service! I purchased a Jetboil stove and three other items online then a day later I saw the money was refunded to my account for the Jetboil with zero contact from Go to tell me the order was cancelled so I waited another two days, got fed up and chased their dodgy customer service who told me it's out of stock. Why take the order then?? He then told me they were back in stock that day and I should reorder, I did and it was immediately cancelled again! For some strange reason they put the cost of the Jetboil into my account then removed it again even though I hadn't paid them yet due to the second attempt order being immediately cancelled. I then also tried the 'click & collect' which stated a one hour service although you need to wait for them to tell when its ready to collect??? By the way, the 'click & collect' service apparently checked that the actual store stock for my chosen store was OK therefore I thought "At last, I'm getting somewhere" Yeah right, three days later and still waiting and the actual shop won't answer the phone. I refused to drive to that store for them to have the last laugh by telling me they either don't have it in stock or they have no record of my order! Last night they put the cost of the Jetboil into my account AGAIN and this morning took it back out AGAIN, I don't like them messing around with peoples bank accounts, extremely concerning and wholly unprofessional! Fed up with them now, bought the Jetboil elsewhere and won't be back!

They take your money the second you click the button. That where their efficiency ends. No update on my order until I chased it myself. I was then told there was an ‘IT’ issue and they could not give me any estimate on the delivery times. My suspicion is they were out of stock but wanted to ‘kick the can down the road’. I cancelled the order but despite a number of Facebook messages and emails I am still no closer to getting a refund. The shops resemble a 1980s jumble sale and the online sales are a joke. Don’t bother!

Absolutely awful company to do business with. Prices are sometimes OK but is it worth it. Spent hours on the phone trying to amend an order. Staff kept just saying no. I’m now in a position where an online order I won’t want will be delivered for me to send back then re order - I’ll be re ordering from elsewhere. Avoid like the plague. Horrible service and rude customer service on telephone - no indeed! Absolutely the pits!

Never really had a problem with them before but they seem to be in total chaos now. Ordered 11 items, 3 eventually arrived. Some have been refunded. No idea which. Still missing either some money or some items and no one at Go Outdoors will tell me which. I am now trying to return one item but their postcode isn't recognised by Hermes so I can't!!

I wish I’d read reviews about this company before using them, it’s all true. Being able to order items that are not ok stock, orders being cancelled without letting customers know, no communication and no answer on their customer service telephone number with no replies to customer service emails. They are deliberately useless. I don’t know how they are still operating in the uk. —— They are also crafty —— I returned an item as it was not for for purpose, and upgraded to a better item. BUT they refunded the original money onto a gift card, before paying for the new item, with me paying the difference on my bank card. Try getting a refund for something purchased on a gift card. VERY DEVIOUS AND QUESTIONABLE OPERATION ! It’s a month on, and no item, refund, phone call or email from Go Outdoors. GO ELSEWHERE

Absolute shower of a company. Take on line orders and your money and only when you ask where your missing items are do they inform you EVERYTHING is out of stock and will give a refund!

The customer service and communication for online orders is beyond ridiculous. After placing an online order with 18 items totaling over £100, go outdoors slowly refunded my order through 9 separate part refunds over 3 days without telling me anything. On the fifth day I contacted them to be told they had Cancelled 16/18 items but still expect me to pay for the 2 remaining ones, despite me telling them that they may as well cancel the last 2 (most expensive) items. Absolutely ridiculous, I will NOT be using them again!!!

Abysmal service. First order completely disappeared off system. Second order 4 if 7 items eventually received. Third attempt, once again only indication of order status is amounts being credited back to my card. Lots of apology for delay texts, nothing about ordered items being cancelled. Won't be "ordering" from Go outdoors again. Even as a lockdown activity, it has been a complete waste of my time. My advice is "Do not bother ordering from this company."

Don't order anything - It wont be in stock - just says it is! I placed an order with this company - Over £350 worth. Other than the order confirmation i received no other contact regarding the inability to fulfil the order. I spotted a partial refund on my card bill, called Go Outdoors and was advised that only one item was in stock - website was showing stock in order to fulfil order. I requested to cancel the entire order for refund, even though the items had not been dispatched, i was asked to wait for a tracking reference to then call and cancel the order once they have left the warehouse. I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone that advised this process, only she had no ability to assist due to the system preventing common sense being applied.

This is regarding the Colchester store. Sadly I can’t enjoy the outdoors because the store in Colchester stole my bike!!! I put it in for repair and it’s gone missing I tried to pick it up on several occasions! And apparently I’m not due any compensation either! Completely disgusting! I have made several complaints and nobody has been helpful at all. I have also made a claim on revolver too and not had a single response. If this isn’t resolved then I will have to go public to the press about this matter as it’s frankly terrible. I have been trying for ages now to resolve this but go outdoors customer services have been useless and keep shifting the blame elsewhere you should be Ashamed of yourself imagine if you took your bike in for repairs and it went missing you’d be devastated. That’s private property and a crime. I used to go into the store all the time and always enjoyed it but after this matter they have lost my custom completely. You don’t go as low as this.

I had ordered a lot of things for my children. Wellies, hats, gloves and things for winter. The website allowed me to purchase every item for an email to be sent a few days later stating that every item was out of stock due to stock inaccuracy! Whats the point of ordering online then? Won't be shopping with then again

Spend your money elsewhere and save yourself the headache! I returned a large order in September as delays in dispatch and processing meant that the items did not arrive in time for when they were needed. It took 6 weeks for the refund to be processed despite several emails to customer service. I was fobbed off a few times saying that PayPal returns take longer, although this doesn't seem to be an issue for other companies I have had to return items to. I asked that this was looked into by a manager because I felt that this was unacceptable. I was offered a £15 voucher as apology and compensation for being messed around, I have sent 2 emails to chase the voucher (which again I feel should not be necessary!) and it has still not arrived. This is company that does not care about it's customers.

It's a shame that i can't give them any less than 1* I would opt for no start of half a star. Ordered items only to be told they didn't have any in stock despite the stock counter clearly showing it in stock online & in stores. I wholly would not recommend. Avoid these useless pricks at all costs.

Ordered same item on three separate occasions, all three have been cancelled and refunded eventually. Had to contact go outdoors to get my postage refunded for a single item that couldn’t be supplied. Item required had been removed from web site then a week later added, placed order and again cancelled. The information placed on the website is constantly incorrect and encouraging customer orders by false representation.

Please do not shop with Go Outdoors, specifically online. The main issue with this company is their online stock count. I purchased 21 items on the 29th of December. The next day, I received a PayPal notification saying I had received a partial refund which amounted to around a third of my order, with no explanation. I emailed the company to ask why and I received a response two days later to say that some of my items were out of stock. A website should automatically update stock count and the company should at least let customers know which items have been refunded immediately so they are able to find the items elsewhere. I went to Twitter as I had another question about my order and wanted a faster response. It was here I noticed that they have hundreds of tweets from people having the same ‘surprise refund’ issue as me. I asked the company if I could cancel or swap an item on my order and was told “we are pretty fast at picking and packing, therefore we cannot make this amend for you” I thought this was fair and my own error so left it at that. Six days after my initial purchase, I email again to say “I am a bit worried my items aren’t going to arrive for my husbands birthday as I have yet to receive a dispatch notice”, only for them to say “I can see your items are still waiting to be picked and packed”. This was frustrating considering what I was told 3 days prior. On the third of January, I receive a PayPal notification to say I had received another partial refund. I enquire to find another item is suddenly out of stock despite making my order six days ago. I finally receive a dispatch notice that my items will be delivered on the 6th of January by DHL. When DHL arrive they only deliver ONE item. I contact DHL and the next day (my husbands birthday) they respond to say they only received one item and I should contact Go Outdoors. Luckily, I check the tracker and apparently I have another delivery arriving on my husbands birthday. When it finally arrives, the box is damaged and inside, all of the items have been thrown in with no packing to protect them. One of the items was a camping lamp which arrived completely smashed in several pieces. I contacted the company to say my order had finally arrived but an item is broken and was told to take it to the nearest Go Outdoors shop for a refund... during lockdown. I’m don’t like negatively reviewing companies online, I work in customer service myself and always prefer when customers complain via email as it’s a final chance for the company to make it up to them before reviewing online. So I emailed the company, said it was a formal complaint and asked for it to be passed to a manager. I outlined my entire experience and received a response from Leon today, who did not apologise once, spent half the email listing the items which were cancelled and refunded (which I was already aware of) and then finished the email by saying if I want to exchange or refund the lamp, I need to go to the shop and if that’s not possible right now, wait until lockdown ends. I am seriously disappointed in this company and would not recommend them to anyone.

Ordered camping bunk beds and two single camp beds online, delivery arrived without the two camp beds, also bunk beds had hole in canvas and one if the holes for a pole was bent. Rang customer services to enquire where the other two beds were and what to do about returning the damaged products, was told that they didn't have any of the camp beds in stock! Told me I had to return the damaged goods to my local shop! Nearest shop is 50 miles away. Dreadful experience.
