I had roof bars and box fitted by Halfords in Berwick. Upon removing the box and rails discovered damage on my brand new car due to missfiitting by Halfords which I paid for. Halfords have rejected their liability. There complaints process is a joke, investigation conducted by the person who fitted the rails and box. Do not get Halfords to perform the fitting unless you want over £600 worth of danage to your car. Disgraceful behaviour by a poor retailer.

Bought an Indi ATB2 bike from here a few weeks ago. I'm not really the handyman type and requested for them to build the bike for me. When i collected the bike, it was poorly constructed which i did not realise until riding away and going to turn a corner. This is when the handlebars turned and the wheels didnt because it wasnt tightened properley. The staff at Halfords do not care if you have any issues. I have emailed on three separate occassions and not a soul bothered to reply. Update: 1 week on and the circlular cog caused the chain to slip off, snapping the chain guard, lodging into the rear wheel, snapped the chain and the cog is now bent in half. Again i have tried to call Halfords and was promised a call back, that didnt happen and still no response to my emails. Awful experience, i would not recommend Halfords at all. If you have an issue with your purchase they will ignore you. Luckily no children rode this bike as it was a deathtrap from the moment i bought it.

My car went in for a tyre change and wheel alignment. Instead it came out with a large dent next to the wheel arch the tyre was changed. They are so inept that the service centre, customer service manager (Richard Broomhall) and area manager (Rayleigh and Essex) told me that it was not caused by them and described a completely different car that had been brought in. Now if they cannot tell 2 cars apart that is telling in itself especially as they are part of the motor industry. They acknowledged causing the damage, at least the area manager did and offered to pay for repairs or partial payment depending on price. Since finding 2 prices, which one is minimal, he has ignored all calls, gone to ground. That is poor customer service and cowardly to not even discuss this further after acknowledgment of guilt. I understand that Halfords is not staffed with the brightest individuals and suspect you would be hard pressed to find any qualifications between the staff members but I would have thought they should be competent enough to action a tyre change without damaging a car. I'm now going to pursue this via the complaints procedure as it is ridiculous they cannot pay the money for repair after accepting culpability. Better to go to a more competent autocentre or small garage and don't waste your time with this company unfit to perform basic car repairs.

Terrible. Needed a brake cable for a bicycle. Looked on their website and they are £1.99. I asked my wife to get one on her way home. They charged her £5. Over 150% above the price it should be. I tried ringing and no answer and cut off with voice message after 15 minutes. Drove down to store and was ignored whilst the one person working stacked shelves. When i realised he was there went over. Could not get a refund because the tills had all frozen? Why was my wife overcharged? That is the price on the till. Apparently their shops are not linked to their website for prices. BE WARNED. Seems like a scam in reality. Advertise a price, you can even check the stock. Get to the store and get charged more than double!!!

I went this morning to the Portsmouth store at Burrfields with a view to buying a thousand pounds electric bike. I went upstairs to the cycle department and there were not any staff on the sales floor. 2 young lads on the tills with a huge queue on both isles. When asked if anyone could help, they just said no!!!! Downstairs were quite a few staff milling about and when asked if anyone could help me was told not now we are busy. I I eventually asked for the manager and told him he had lost a thousand pounds sale as no one could be bothered to serve me. I will spend my money elsewhere. You wonder why retail shops are going bust all the time but this was a prime example. I will order online from another company.

If you own a 2015 model Jeep Cherokee do not think about having a dash cam hardwired by Halford's as it is not possible, this is not a Halford's issue but a Jeep problem I believe. There is a lack of a suitable fuse location in the inside fuse box and they are not allowed to go into the engine bay. The work around is to route the cable to a point behind the power outlet in the middle front console and connect onto the pink/yellow wire which is ign controlled to the cigarette lighter.

Just had a dash cam fitted to my Nissan Micra cc and thought everything ok until today when it is raining. The dash cam is fitted at the top of the front windscreen where the wiper blades do not clear the screen so if recording an accident the screen is blurred by rain. This is surely a bit of a basic error is it not. So just be aware of this before walking off and leaving them to fit it on their own.

Just stick to selling, every time I take a car to them to do a job I always end up taking it to a proper garage to put right the problem as Halfords also tried to rip me off with a new turbo and egr valve which I didn’t need, should of learned my lesson but gave them another chance a simple job to change a headlight bulb but they managed to ruin my headlight it’s now full of condensation thanks Halfords I’ll stick to euro car parts and a local garage for repairs.

I placed order online for collection in Coolock Store Dublin It's not the first time I've been disappointed with the service here I went to collect my order and joined the que as normal fine, then spoke with the guy who I gave my order number only to find after searching hi and low can't find the order. I was then asked to follow him to the tools section to see if i could pick out what I ordered hmmmmm I did find what I ordered as he had no glue.. I was then sent back to the cash counter while he disappeared into the back of the shop. I'm now back on the end of the line of customers waiting to be served AGAIN when the guy returns to the counter and proceeded to ignore me and serve the customer in front of me Hmmmm The online shopping is awful and the customer service in the shop is twice as bad. I wont be back ...

Wish i had read reviews before buying a bike from its Wallasey store. Chain went on bike within two months and I was told they do not cover moving parts on a bike so only the frame is covered! So you are aware this does not affect your consumer rights and i have written to them to repair the bike under Consumer Rights Act 2015. If they do not do this i am advised the bike can be rejected as "goods not of a satisfactory quality". Customer services have advised it is up to me to prove it was faulty however legal advice has informed me that within six months it is up to them to prove it was my fault. This national company have been an absolute disgrace to deal with from store to customer services and i would not recommend anyone to deal with them. They said they would fix the bike for 65 pound at my cost and have since reduced the cost to fix by 30 pounds to 35 pound. This might seem petty but there actions are such that i will take this all the way. This is the same store that would not help a lady with her car on a Saturday and tells you everything about their attitude to customers.

Here is the series of events in my local Halfords. Yesterday I went to buy a 4 man tent, the price on the shelf did match the product. Got the other one that was reduced to £50. On approaching the till the sales staff Micheal, asking if I was brining it back, I laughed and said I haven't even brought it yet, is there something I should know? No he said and I paid for it. On puttining it up that night, there were 3 holes in the outer lining. I took it back this morning and another sales guy said oh dont tell me this one's got a fault as well. He very kindly asked me if I would like another, I declined: strange that! We have quite a few back. Are the staff here knowingly selling stuff that is not of good value or quality.... Yes Shocking customer service.

Joke of an organisation. Clearly incompetent management from top to bottom. Tired to buy a car battery but was provided one that didn’t work. Both in store and helpline have no clue about automotive products. Also tried to purchase a number plate, but they have none in stock and have no idea when they will have them. Asked if another branch would have them and was told ‘best you check’.

I had to give one star as giving none wasn't an option they are that incompetent and uncaring. Since my first visit to the Bath branch for a simple clutch replacement my car has been back to the Branch at Oxford 7 times (making a total of 14 days off the road) to put right the work. During this time I have received conflicting and misleading advice resulting in numerous unnecessary wasted appointments, incomplete work, body work damage to the vehicle and cover ups about parts being fitted which weren't. Over this time the gearbox has been removed on at least 5 occasions and is now left with the legacy of an oil leak. At first Halfords said there was nothing wrong, then an oil seal needed replacing then the housing was cracked. If I had accepted this on face value I would have had to pay £900 plus fitting for a new gearbox which wasn't needed as I insisted on another examination which confirmed an oil leak. Halfords have refused to put this right even though the cause is most likely due to the frequent gearbox removal, as the car has only covered 50000 miles and as a Hyundai has a bullet prove reliability record. Correspondence with the Regional Manager and Head Office is now unanswered.

The most awful customer service experience in my life. All my bike needs is a simple repair to pedal and connected piece; was told that unless I purchase a £160 maintenance package they would refuse to do anything to the bike...that I purchased from them might I add. The worker tried to upsell a service that wasn’t even required let alone wanted. The manager that I asked to speak to (after they’d had a 10 minute personal conversation between themselves) was extremely perdantic and even asked me to leave the store because I said “I’m unhappy with what this guy said”...you couldn’t make it up. Head office said they would intervene and call me back, almost immediately I received a call from the store (not what was discussed) from a very snotty member of staff that reiterated their refusal to fix a bike they provided. So to some up, if you have an issue with a Halfords bike unless you pay near on two thirds of the cost of your bike and agree to work that you don’t want or require; you will be left in the lurch and treated like a second class citizen. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

The more often I go the worse it gets. Ok shop to buy bike parts and bikes from but not a good place to send your bike for repairs. Do not repair your bike there learn yourself how to. (summary: they messed my gears up, they punctured my tire) First time I went and bought a bike, they built it, it was perfectly fine worked well. Now because I bought a bike I got something where basically I go back in like 3 months later and adjust brakes and gears as you need to. They adjusted the breaks but they messed up my gears a bit, I thought the issue would disappear after a while but it didn't but I got used to it. Later after about a year or so after buying the bike I went in as my back axle was bent, the part was like 11£ and labour was more than the part. I paid and I was told to come in on monday but the bike wasn't ready on monday so I came in on tuesday and picked it up. When I got on the bike I realised my back tire had less pressure than the one in the front (it should have more). I didn't pay attention as I thought they didn't inflate it much and as I get going I realise that my gears are even more messed up than they were before, not worse but not what I was used to (not sure how they managed to do that). Now I suppose I could get along with that, later I get home after I finish doing some stuff around town I come home and pump my back tire up. After 2 whole days when I needed to use it again the back tire was back to a similar pressure when I picked it up from halfords so I pumped it back up and got going, again after I leave it the pressure goes down again, so obviously there is a puncture. Now I go to halfords to tell them about the circumstance only to be told that I need to pay for replacement as I was responsible for the puncture. Now my bike is quite cheap so I thought it's not worth repairing it only to possibly get it back worse so now I will soon buy a new bike (not from halfords) and I will repair it myself when needing to. I'd rather spend the money to buy some tools and learn myself how to repair my own bike using the widely available resources rather than come to them to find out that each time I pay for a part in bike to get repaired something else is broken or affected in a negative way.
