“Worst experience of my life with JCPenny. I ordered two suits set for my kids but never delivered. I am trying to cancel the order but they are not canceling my order and saying they cannot cancel the order until it will not deliver to the store.”
“If I could give 0 stars I would! Talk about an absolute horribly rude experience. Jcpenny doesn’t sell the couch I purchased less than a year ago. I asked for guidance on how to proceed because it needs replaced under my warranty. I had a horrible delivery right off the bat which should have warned me. The couch delivered was broke and looked like it was chewed on the corner... needless to say it was never fixed even after a complaint was made upon delivery. Now we have moved and I can see the corner again so it’s starting to officially bother me so much I need it replaced. The woman was completely rude on the line. As a former associate I am appalled. I asked for an email explaining that jcpenny will not replace my couch because they no longer sell it and she rudely said I have no email. Wouldn’t do anything for me then I asked for what else I can do and she said “I told you what to do”. I mean give me a break. So here I am. Wasted 2k on a couch that lasted less than a year and won’t be replaced. Now I’ll head to Ashley’s and ask for them to replace a couch made by them but purchased at JCPenny (since that’s what I was told to do). LOL. No company replaces what someone else sold.”
“I am disappointed that product availability for My Pillow has been discontinued for political reasons. I prefer JC Penney over Amazon and would rather spend my money in their store.”
“I’m not one to turn people away from businesses, as I know people need to have their own experiences and make their own opinions. However, I STRONGLY advise literally any and everyone to stay away from JCPenney in the Ocean County Mall. My husband purchased my wedding set in 2017 and it has been issue after issue with them ever since. Not only are ALL of the jewlery associates inconceivably rude and unhelpful, but I have been calling customer service over and over, asking to be transferred to managers and supervisors for two hours now and my issue is STILL not resolved.
Once I get my rings back (IF EVER) after not having them for over a month, I will be taking them elsewhere to be serviced even after my husband paid extra for the lifetime warranty, because at this point, I would literally spend any amount of money to never be treated like this again.
Do yourself a favor and don’t bother buying anything of value from this store. You will 1000% regret it.”
“I ordered a make-up kit on Black Friday that was supposed to be delivered between 12/10 and 12/14. I received the package on 12/30, and it was the wrong item. The packing slip stated the correct item. I sent in an email with pictures and attachements of the slip. The online Customer Care team is useless, they cannot view images or attachments, even though all the online receipts have images as the item descriptions. Then they tell me that they do not sell the lotion kit I received so I have to take it to a store and see if they will accept it. I was asked for the same order and item information 3 times. I have been a loyal customer for years. I will never shop with them either online or in store again, even if they give the items away. This is the last time I am dealing with the abhorrent customer service.”
“Would give a -5 if I could. Stupid move discontinued My Pillow. Stay out of politics. Your chain s struggling as it is. I will spread the word, BOYCOTT JCPENNY”
“I would give this store a big fat”0” if I could!!!. I went to the Galleria Mall and shopped at JCPenny. I bought $200 worth of clothing which I wasn’t going there to do. When I went to the register, the cashier never said hi or if I found everything. Not a single word to me but definitely to the young girl he was trying to hook up with!!! After cashing out, he just slid them on the counter without a bag or anything. REALLY?? Since when do customers carry there stuff out the door unbagged? All the people working there are very rude, walk away when asking a question, and after saying excuse me 3-4 times they still act like they never heard you. I will NOT be shopping at there again! I’d rather go to the smaller malls to shop than deal with rude and ignorant people at this mall!! Maybe you need to teach your employees the rules - always ask if they need anything else, customers are always right, and always always ask them if they need things bagged!!!! Close this store instead of the ones in the suburbs!!!!!!!!”
“On January 18, 2021 I went to JPC at Westfield Wheaton, MD. I had ONE brand-new item(a purse in bought in the store) to return with receipt ready. Only one register was working and the two customers ahead of me had several issues with their returns, each taking 30 minutes. There was only one clerk at the register which was handling pick-ups, returns and exchanges. I had been in line for an hour and there were at least 13 customers behind me. Another clerk said since I had only one item she'd take me to a different register. When we went there that clerk (the only one) was helping a customer place a home furnishing order and she told us it would take some time. My helpful clerk finally took me to the Hair Salon to process the exchange. By this time, during COVID, I had been there for 1-1/2 hours. JCP has a huge online ordering and promotional site but the difficulty with customer service delays instore has not changed, for me, at least in 20 years. I will never shop there again. “If I could rate a NEGATIVE number.....I would. I ordered an item 2 days ago because the order window online said free shipping. After I placed the order I received a confirmation of the order right away saying that it was "same day pickup". I am trying to avoid stores due to Covid-19 which was the entire reason I wanted it shipped.
I then tried to cancel the order (just a couple minutes after placing it) by using the "cancel" button on the website which did not activate anything. Nothing happened when I clicked it several times.
At that point I tried calling them using the number on the order and the automated reply couldn't find the order and there was no prompt to speak with a person.
I sent them an email asking for the item to either be shipped or cancelled and got NO RESPONSE.
Today I found a number online where I could actually speak with a human being. I got connected and explained everything. She said that she could NOT cancel the item even though it's still in the store!!! I then told her that I am trying to support brick and mortar companies because I don't want them going out of business but this lack of customer support or help was not convincing me that they are a caring alternative.
After explaining my disbelief of their lack of help I told her that I would pick it up but would never order online again from Penney's she then said that if I don't pick it up it will cancel. I said,"Why didn't you simply tell me that when I told you that I wanted to cancel? That would have solved this whole problem". No reply !!! She had made me go on and on and wouldn't have mentioned it at all if I hadn't strenuously complained.
JCPenney......I am DONE with you. You don't care about your customers so I no longer care about your survival. I hope that you re-examine your treatment of customers.”
“When I order online it sends me an email item is shipped u can track in 24 hours u can’t ever track it the whole time so I will never spend another dollar at jcpenny”
“I ordered a Ninja Master Prep QB1004 on Cyber Monday, went through the whole process and paid via the paypal option at the end. I received an order confirmation email saying that I would receive it between Dec 9-11. On Dec 8th I got an email saying that my order was cancelled because there was an issue with my payment. Now, anyone that has used paypal know that the order to JC Penny's will show as "pending" until Penny's actually goes in and charges them - and it was still "pending" on paypal's end. I emailed customer service, and also called them. In the meantime I had placed an order with Walmart using my paypal account and had NO issues. The woman that I spoke to on the phone said that when she looked at my account, that it wasn't an issue with payment - it's that the item was out of stock. I asked how that could be because when I placed the order and got a confirmation - didn't that mean that 1 of those was technically mine? All she could say was that I could call back when the item was back in stock and they would give it to me at the same price and waive the shipping fee. Meanwhile, I received an email from customer service in response to the 1 that I had sent. That individual was sticking to the story that they couldn't process my payment and that's why the order was cancelled. I explained that it wasn't my payment method - it's that they over sold an item and now can't fill their promised orders. The fact that I received 2 different stories from 2 different people is extremely upsetting, especially when the one individually was trying to put the blame on me and completely lying about what really happened. I will NEVER shop with them again, and I will tell anyone that listens that you should take your business elsewhere. I would leave negative stars if possible!!”
“I ordered my granddaughter an outfit as a Christmas present on December 3rd, plenty of time to receive it for Christmas. I spent 8.95 to have it shipped and it couldn't weigh more than a few ounces. Penney's didn't even ship it until December 14th and even though they gave me a tracking number, the tracking number is useless since I can't tell if it is with UPS or USPS and from what information that Penney's provided, it was in one state north of me, came to my state, and then went to another state south of me. It is now 4 days before Christmas, too late to order another one from somewhere else. I am one angry grandma.”
“DO NOT BUY ONLINE FOR MATTRESS! I bought a "mattress" online on Black Friday sale. Read the measurements of the box spring and mattress which i was good with it. But the mattress was sooo thin that you could fold it and pick it up with one hand.. Measurements were fiven online of the total measurement of both the box spring and "mattress" combined. Now i am being charged for re stock fee and pick up fee AND no merchandise to keep! I guess customer satisfaction does NOT apply to JcPenney..Pics online are deceiving! It is NOT a mattress.., it is a MAT! Good luck with speaking to a manager to complain..Been on hold for almost 40 minutes to speak to a manager..still waiting ... wanted to upload a photo but wont website wont allow me”
“Never buy from them!
I can truly see why JC Penney's is going out of business!!! I was on the website just checking items out. It seemed to have good discount prices so I placed an order. My fault I was in a hurry and rushed through the order. Shorty after placing the order I had time to review it. All of the items that I purchased had a discount attached to them...BUT WAIT....YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE DISCOUNT!!!! THEREFORE I PAID FULL PRICE FOR ALL OF THE OTHER ITEMS....I would have NEVER ordered these items if they were not on sale because there are so many other stores that have the same items for less. Shame on you Penny's for getting over on new customers. I will never order from you again and when my order comes in...I will take it all back to your store! Worst experience ever not to mention it took me 30 minutes to get in touch with someone and when I did...she was absolutely the worst customer service representative ever...a lot like the website....if you want to know why you are going out of business...just read this”
“So apparently if you don't use your credit card for awhile they cancel it, that I can deal with....but to give absolutely NO warning is ridiculous and unprofessional. A simple email saying "hey we are about to turn your card off" and I would have made a purchase to keep it active. One simple email is all it takes. I lost a credit card, you lost my whole family as customers!”
“I have been with JCPenney's for 21 years.
They have been fantastic I have brought my coats my clothes my jewelry everything from JCPenney's I love JCPenney so much I'm going to miss them when they leave and go out of business.”
“First of all I ordered 2t jogging pants they sent 4 t and stuck on a 2t sticker . I just kept them so now I have $20 worth of rewards that expire because of the virus . After advertising that they set emails they would extend it they are refusing to she said there's a lot of cases like mine because of the virus cold hearted people I have had a JCPenney card for years and been a faithful shopper for years I am rethinking . I've recently ordered a lot from them but this is really just coldhearted not caring for the customers .”
“I purchased a pair of boys Levi jogger in February. I bought them for my grandson who lives 250 miles away. The Covid virus came and the store was closed until, I believe, June. After being quarantined, I got the pants back that did not fit. I tried to return them this fall, without the receipt, and was told that you cannot take back Levi's without a receipt. So, I went home and located the receipt. This all took time.
I returned to the JCP at Fashion Fair Mall, Fresno, CA today (11/17/20 @ 1100)to return the pants. They are clearly new with all tags attached and with the receipt. I was denied return because of a 90 day policy. I asked to speak to a manager. An unprofessional manager told me that, "Even if I wanted to take them back, I can't because it won't let me." Who is 'it'? I even would have accepted store credit.
I have been a loyal JCP customer since the 1970's. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at JCP on clothing for myself and my family, housewares, furniture, appliances, etc. I cannot believe that they would deny me a refund of $16.57, especially given the chaotic year that we have all experienced. I have contacted corporate to give them a chance to correct this, but if they don't, I will NEVER step into a JCP again. It is the principle, I don't need the $16.”
“I shop at JCpenny in the Eastern Hill Mall in Williamsville, NY. I lost my driver's license and 2 credit cards while shopping in that facility. I was frantic. I called the store the next day when I was tracing back my steps. The manager said they had the license. I was ecstatic and rushed down to the store. Well when I was chatting with the cashier about how a good Samaritan found my license and turned it in, he said that was him and it was on the floor outside his register. What a good trusting character this person name ALI has. I am eternally grateful by his good works. Thank you Ali for being the honest person you are.”
