“Avoid this company like the plague. I booked return direct flights for 2 from Newcastle to Antalya. 3 days later the airline changed the flight to indirect with stops at Birmingham causing additional 3 hours on flights. I contacted opodo and stated I was not happy with this and would like to cancel. They told me I had to get in touch with the airline to cancel myself but if the airline said I could have a full refund they would give me a full refund of £449.72. I contacted the airline the following day who agreed to cancel and full refund and sent me an email to that effect. I then contacted opodo again and sent them the email from the airline. Opodo said they would refund my full costs but it could take up to 30days. 3 days later I received an email from opodo saying they had received the refund from the airline and would issue me a refund of £377. I called them again to be told that was all they were prepared to refund me but to fill out a complaint form to have them resolve it. I filled out the form and emailed it to them yesterday and received a reply this afternoon stating they would not be refunding their charges only the airlines, I have attached their reply below and will be seeking advice from trading standards. I have never dealt with a more unscrupulous company ever. Dear Customer, First of all, we would like to thank you for contacting Opodo and apologize for the delay in our reply. Your Opodo booking number: 11225484651 We are sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience with us and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Regarding a refund of the service fee of your booking, we would like to remind you that, according to our general terms and conditions, the service fee is a non-refundable part of the payment. The service fees are charged for the mediation services provided by Opodo, which are deemed to have been fulfilled upon confirmation of the booking. As a result, we are unable to issue a refund of the fees. We hope you understand that the fees are non-refundable. For further questions we are happy to help you. We are at your disposal for any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you again for contacting Opodo Kind regards Hossam. A Opodo customer care”

“Cancelled same morning but kept £340.17p Booked flights on 05 January for £1,287.69. Cancelled same day but Opodo took more than six weeks to refund any money and then kept £340.17. Having looked into this further, as far as I can tell, Opodo is just a bit of a scam really. They advertise that you can book the cheapest flight tickets with them and save with Opodo. But they just appear to sell tickets with a large mark up. Maybe when they first started as a company they had better prices but now they appear to charge about 25% + compared to booking directly. Just avoid scam companies like this… although it can be difficult as they pay to be top of Google searchers even if you try to search for a specific airline and at first you can think that you are dealing with the airline but actually you are dealing with Opodo. ------------------------- Later update .... on pressing and pressing them further, Opodo said the money they kept split down to: - Easyjet's fee for cancellation of 49 GBP and the extra fee for booking through Opodo of 44.42 GBP (both non-refundable). Both fair enough. But there was an extra baggage fee of 246.75 GBP that Opodo added and that they won't refund. So ... if you book through Opodo and not the airline, you will be charged extra service fees (that will not be refunded if you cancel) and "additional products fees" that Opodo apply to your booking. Opodo said that any payment for hold baggage etc was a non-refundable element, even though the airline do not take the money. Just book through the airline. Don't use Opodo. There are no up sides to using Opodo but there are plenty of reasons not to use Opodo. Unless you really enjoy paying extra money that you may never get back and love talking to chatbots. Now on to an irritating legal battle.”

“what a complete joke these scammers are 3 years on and they send me an email saying they have requested a refund from Qatar airways i spoke with Qatar airways over 2 years ago and they told me that they have refunded OPODO/EDREAMS the full amount as they cancelled my flights these people at OPODO are just trained to lie lie lie and steal your money they are complete thieves and scammers please people NEVER USE THIS SCAM SITE and get the word out there about these scammers”

“Worst company I've ever encountered. Cancelled a flight over 3 months ago and still haven't received all the money that I'm owed. Will never ever use this company again and will advise everyone I know to not use them either. ABSOLUT BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!”

“Please a request to customers never book from opodo. I am waiting for my refund since 2020 as my flight was cancelled during pandemic in March 2020 till now I haven't received refund inspite of more then 20 calls the message what they provide Is they are dealing with the airline and has escalated your issue. A rubbish and totally disaster site and customer service are paid for telling lies.”

“Opodo are shocking over their treatment of refunds. My daughters flight was cancelled 7 months ago and she has still not been refunded by opodo. They also ignore requests to engage. They posted pre tax profits of 6.6 million in their last financial year. Why can they not action refunds?”

“You are Absolute con artists, I paid £146 on top of the actual flight cost and the only service you provide is checking us in automatically!! Charged a fee to allow cancellation which turns out with the airline we are entitled to anyway! A £30-£40 overall fee I would understand but not £146 on top of what was only otherwise £300 of flights”

“I wrote a review about my experience with them on Trustpilot, only to receive an email from Trustpilot the following day saying that they asked for information about me which I must provide, otherwise my review would be "taken off line"!! The information is personal, my full name, my phone, my email, plus some! I thought there was an element of TRUST in Trustpilot! At any rate, they can't own the entire internet and bully other sites to remove reviews, so here goes: I was trying to book a ticket with them, and all the good prices were labelled "prime", you'd have to purchase a prime subscription to get those prices, and the cost of that will be added to your ticket price. So far, so good. Many airlines have such a system. HOWEVER, I looked EVERYWHERE on their website for the cost of Prime, and it was absolutely NOWHERE to be found!!! I clicked to chat with what was a "chat robot" and even though I asked a VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD QUESTION: "what is the cost of Prime?" I did NOT get an answer, the robot "didn't understand"?!! Now imagine you are buying something and they tell you to just give them your credit card details without letting you know the price, how is THAT good business? I wrote the FACTS on trustpilot, got an email saying Opodo requested certain "details" (my personal information) and if I didn't provide it, my review would be removed! When I clicked reply to explain the situation (again) to Trustpilot, the mail bounced back as if it were an invalid address (!?). Anyway, a website that REFUSES to show certain fees until after you buy is NOT an agency to be trusted. Given there are countless other websites that offer flight deals, then why on earth book with them?”

“Never! Never do not use OPODO! The company does not return money for more than a year. Opodo made a mistake in the reservation number and referring to the ticket was non-refundable, does not return money! Staff is lying all the time. A large number of calls to the call center and emails did not lead to any result. Worst company I have met!”

“PLease avoid this company however tempting the cost may appear. If anything goes wrong with the flight you will not get there. It is impossible to speak to a real person and their chat bots just churn out nonsense. Promise after promise but they do nothing. I am amazed they are allowed to operate!”

“Don’t book tickets with opodo It’s a scam you will cry. I booked a flight on behalf of my husband from Edinburgh Scotland to Harare Zimbabwe. I didn’t know that the ticket did not have any checked in bags. It was to day when l was going through the itinerary that l realised that there was not even one checked in bag. After calling them was told to pay £140 for 2 bags on top of the of the £466 for the one way ticket and £59 Prime what what which they took out of my account unknowingly. To make matters worse l am going to pick up my checked in bags in Johansburg South Africa and checked them in to a connecting flight to my final destination. And the flight doesn’t accept my 46 kilograms that l paid to KLM it wants only 30 kilograms and a very small carry on bag what a hassle what will l do with extra 16 Kilograms that l bought for my first flight. OPODO is a scam⚠️❗️”

“AFTER A MONTH WHEN I ORDERED A TICKET FOR OPODO THEY WITHDRAW MONEY, WITH THIS CARD I BUY TICKETS ONLY FOR OPODO. SCAM. I propose to unite to hire lawyers and give these crooks in the teeth. “Rouges! Booked tickets to Italy wit their so called 30 day free trial of Prime membership. Tried cancelling this multiple times via the App and online over laptop. No provision to cancel, no cancellations confirmation emails. They then try taking £59.99 multiple times despite DM via their twitter account where they said they would refund and cancel. Guess what months later they take 59.99 again!! Now have refunded only when threatened with a formal complaint to the ombudsman. NEVER USE OPODO (based in Spain as we found out in the process).”

“Avoid this deceptive company and please pay attention to negative reviews. Upon having to cancel a planned family summer holiday in advance, Opodo assured me the airline would provide an open ticket voucher to the same value. Received email from Opodo confirming this open ticket. No offer of my legally entitled refund. I recently tried to rebook these flights for the summer and was refused. Opodo insisting that flights must be used before March 23. Have also learned that the airline do NOT even fly this route again until April 23. I hope customers do their homework and avoid booking with Opodo & they are investigated for these practices. Appalled Customer”

“I bought from the flexibility option where , i could change my flight by paying some extra money and fare difference. But , when i wanted to avail this , they said airline does not support it . But then why did they sold me this option at first place. They know which airline works on what conditions. You lost my trust. Secondly, they new the Air India flight from Frankfurt to New delhi has new time for departure weeks in advance. The new departure time was 1 hour earlier. But they just informed me 4 hours before the departure time . This was my first and last time with Opodo. Never buy addons from Opodo”
