Probably the worst mobile connectivity I have ever had. Proof of the pudding that ‘you get what you pay for’. Also, claimed European connectivity had to be prepaid. A fraud in my books.

6 days (so far) of no inbound calls or texts. There seems to have been an issue with the porting of my old number. Things go wrong sometimes (we are all human). Unfortunately, Smarty appears to have a completely disjointed customer service web chat that has no ability to escalate, obtain information updates from the business departments that are solving problems or provide any updates as what has actually gone wrong and how long to fix. I have spent hours on both their web chat and their community forum with no resolution in sight. https://community.smarty.co.uk/t5/chats-hacks/porting-only-occured-for-outbound-no-inbound-calls/m-p/18730 I can make calls and send texts from my number but inbound calls simply state "The number dialed has not been recognised, please redial". It took 2 days for the Web Chat team to actually come to the conclusion it was a porting issue rather than the usual array of reset your phone, clear cache etc. From my opinion and ongoing experience, Smarty have cleverly setup as an online only solution with only webchat and email to reduce costs for customers. Unfortunately, they seemed to have not bothered to make this only customer communication channel entwined within the business or trained their staff very well to answer problems. The advisor in web chat admitted that they can only escallate a problem by typing into a notes field! The web chat team seem to be doing their best with no access to business information or training to answer certain problems. Searching their own forum shows Porting seems to be their weak point. Fingers crossed I dont have to live with no calls or texts for too much longer, the biggest problem for me is texts are often used for MFA/2FA

Stay away from them, they charged me for over a year although I never used their service, not even once. Then they refused to give me all my Money back. "Our policy wouldn't allow us "

Appalling. Tried to PAC my number over and despite my previous provider closing my account and seeing that the number has been ported SMARTY have not connected my number. It has been nearly two weeks and all I get is 'we are working on it, it will happen soon'. I cannot port the number to another provider either according to them. Poor customer service and phone service. Could not recommend less. Only communication option with them is live chat as well.

My service has been suspended one day after I arrived to a EU country. I have EU roaming included in my plan and Smarty is doing this to me regurlarly without any explanation and take more than two days to unsuspend the service.

Pros: Cheap and excellent customer service Cons: I signed 2 weeks ago. Constant work being undertaken in my area resulting in frustratingly low data speeds, data cutting out entirely, missed calls and calls cut short. Average speeds of 0.5Mgbs. 4g is pointless to even try to use, have been using 3g mainly. Data cuts out preventing downloading, video calls via zoom etc and any interactive service such as gaming. Customer service have been unable to provide a completion time. Fortunately I'm on a rolling monthly deal so I have cancelled my renewal and will be leaving SMARTY. I would personally recommend friends and alike to avoid the 3 network and it's users such as SMARTY. Definitely do not get tied into a long term contract, you will most likely regret it!

Terrible. After one week I have left. Packed up and got my PAC code, signed up with another network. When I tried to contact them, all I got was a bunch of emails unrelated to my actual request and questions, just random stuff, this company is really out of touch with their customers.

Smarty paused services while I was ago and with NO warning. Compromised communication safety etc. Who gives them the right to discontinue service I PAID FOR already (contract payable start of month) with no warning and for no good reason. Poor, just avoid. It's true, you get what you pay for and this is a cheap harmful service.

Cheap but you get what you pay for Ordered 3 sim only deals as Plusnet ceased their service. Transfer was easy but once we received the sim cards and started to use them the signal was very poor. We live in a city and had no issues with Plusnet or my work phone. On contacting customer support they said they didnt have strong coverage in that area and that its on their future roll out plan..... they then gave me £3 back as compensation! So after one month with them Im having to switch to 02 on pretty much the same deal. We track the kids phones and have to keep them in touch when their clubs finished but this wasnt possible on Smarty due to their poor network. As an aside customer support tried to say it may be the hand set (had me restart it) until I pointed out this affects three numbers on three recent generation Iphones Very disappointed.

I wish I could give 0 or less stars. I have never in my life had a worse experience with a phone provider. I ordered my sim, got lost or didn’t arrive for over a week. I already put my pack code on the order too to transfer my number. I asked to cancel and get my pac code and they said no. Waited another 5 days for new sim to be delivered. It arrived. Activated the sim, said it would then take two more days to transfer my number over. Two days later. Went to use the sim with my old number and it didn’t work. Go on the chat and they have sent me a suspended SIM card so I had to order it again. I refused and asked to cancel and she said she could give me my PAC code and cancel….after the first person I spoke to said I couldn’t do that! So I wasted an extra week for no reason. I still don’t have a working SIM card or my old phone number. I have lost clients and business and potential interviews by people not being able to contact me for three weeks on my number. Never ever recommending this to anyone.

Doesn't allow texts to short numbers, doesn't state this clearly anywhere, and their customer service is pretty useless. Signal is ok in towns and cities, but absolutely awful if you go into a more rural area. I get a decent signal with both EE and O2 in the same areas Smarty has little/no signal. When asked about the texting to short numbers I was told "The team are working on it". Turns out they meant to say they aren't working on it and there is no current plan to provide it.

Appalling Service. Well non existent service really. Like so many on here received the SIM placed in the mobile and since then no service. There is one element to draw to peoples attention and seems to be common. If you enter in a PAC code when ordering the SIM, which they allow you to do, this is the start of the problems. I have subsequently learnt that until the SIM is activated you cannot use a PAC code. So if they jump the gun, which it looks like they are doing things fail. So remove this option Smarty. In my example we have now been without a working mobile for over 5 weeks.

Avoid if internet use is highly important. Price point is great however major trouble with network coverage and mobile internet. Have often been left with no internet all day despite having many GB 'available' in account. Highly inconvenient.

Americans in London. We bought two sim cards for our iphones. Installed but had questions. Tried connecting via browser or app on iphones. They are fairly quick to respond but the verification process for us was beyond difficult because they had different information on us than we had. Of course they want to protect their customers but the customer support people lacked intuition to see that there was a information problem. We never received any support because of the verifcation problem. Later, post vacation after disposing of sim cards we get notified of a unknown automatic renewal. We requested a refund. But it took 3 days and exceed 12 hours on the chat line to finally get a person with authority to give us our refund and cancel our account. Why customer service stonewalled us so long is beyond me. So frustrating.

Only wish I had read the reviews before joining this terrible network. I joined in hope or receiving the unlimited data they promised.. 2 days in and I realise that any access to the internet requires me to do as follows... 1. reset network settings and restart phone 2. remove sim card 3. switch off phone 4. wait for 3 minutes and restart phone 5. reinsert sim and restart personal hotspot. Any untethering and use of phone requires this laborious process to be repeated. Customer services are totally useless and apathetic to their customers distress. I shall share this review in as many places I can to deter as many as possible from making the mistake that I did before returning to my previous network.

Bought and pre paid for sim popped in phone when it arrived 24 hours later still no service no text no email nothing. Spoke to someone on line which is really annoying and long winded told me to turn off and on blah blah like I'm an idiot 🙄 this is my 4th attempt with smarty in 2 years because giffgaff slow down speeds between 7am until 10.30 am and then from 5pm until 7am every single day. But I'll never used smarty again they don't know what they are doing response time is ridiculous so I told him to cancel and refund to original payment sorce. Fancy selling pre paid sims taking your money but not having it ready to activate. At least with giffgaff if you run out of data they still allow you to get onto the Website to top up. Smarty don't so while cutting you off how are you suppose to register the sims for use and if like me you suffer severe anxiety and don't like to leave your home and you can't get onto smarty Website they'll tell you to go shop and buy a voucher. They are one of the worst companies. Not sure how trust shows 5 star's I really don't.

Your onboarding process is extremely disappointing. My customer experience to date is: - I ordered my sim on 21st of May - I provided my PAC code on my order to enable my number transfer - I received my sim on the 30th of May. - I immediately actioned the transfer process - My phone number was disconnected today 10.30 - I received an email notification today at 14.15 advising that my number had been transferred - I followed the process to the letter, made sure my settings were correct and still no connection - I contacted your message centre today and this was the response that I received… I had read reviews on the poor customer experience through the onboarding experience, and I can now vouch for this. This part of the new customer experience is the most important and in my opinion - SMARTY have failed. I did a lot of research, I took the risk of knowing this was going to be poor and it was confirmed. Using my personal phone for work and now the potential of having 10 days without being contactable - absolutely unacceptable.
