As outlined in other reviews this company is behaving in an immoral and unscrupulous manner. When theatres, sports venues, airlines, decent holiday companies etc are offering refunds due to the international crisis we find ourselves in, Sykes think it is OK to hold their "valued" customers to ransom. It is not. Customer service = poor, customer satisfaction = nil

Sykes cottage have appalling customer care. They are not giving refunds in the current COVID-19 pandemic. They are only offering transfer of dates which potentially costs more and for many people is not an acceptable alternative. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

If i could leave less than 1 star i would. As others have explained sykes holiday cottages are actively profiting from this dreadful pandemic at the expense of all their customers Sykes should be ashamed of themselves i will never ever book with you or your other companies again

Having used Sykes several times recently, we were shocked to discover that in this time of National crisis they are not offering any refunds to people who have to cancel their holiday. Therefore we will not be booking with them again, and would not recommend them.

I would give no stars if I could!! Absolutely appalling customer service. My wedding has been cancelled due to the Covid -19 pandemic and all of my suppliers, have either refunded or agreed to the change of date for no extra cost. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE FOR SKYES COTTAGES!!! We requested a change of date to Skyes Cottages, only to be told that the original price would still apply, even though the week we wanted to change to was £600 cheaper!!! This disgusting company making money out of this global crisis, SHAME ON YOU!!!!! IM STILL WAITING FOR YOU TO RETURN MY CALLS CARA WATSON!!! I WILL NOT LET THIS GO, UNTIL SOMEONE HAS THE DECENCY TO CONTACT ME AND RESOLVE THIS!

We have a holiday booked through Sykes end of June, we cancelled due being layed off work and no money to pay the balance £1029. Fortunately we are only £20 deposit out of pocket but seeing the disgraceful way that they are not refunding other guests who are due to go in the next three weeks I believe if I parted with my money I would end in the same boat. Disgraceful way to run a business in difficult uncertain times.

We have booked through Sykes before so had rebooked to go on holiday this easter, unfortunately the owners of the place we were staying at are self isolating with Coronavirus so have cancelled our booking. Sykes contacted us to ask if we wanted rebook at a later date or have a refund we opted for a refund on 21/03/20 and have heard nothing since we have looked in our account and there is no record of any booking now. They are an absolute shambles...avoid them st all costs.

Absolutely disgraceful profiteering company, making serious extra money out of people by making them re-book during the covid-19 pandemic rather than issuing refunds. Other travel companies such as Airbnb and airlines are giving refunds, why not them? Because they are greedy, profiteering, immoral gangsters. Will never use them again. Everyone should stop using them, make them go out of business.

We were due to take a 3 day break in Herefordshire this weekend coming. We didn't ask for a refund but opted to change dates. They insisted we had to pay the extra. We paid £334 for the holiday, but they wanted another £270 which made the 3 days £604. If we had booked a week on the dates we chosen with them it would have cost £575. Having spoken to them, and saying that the decision was made by the government and not ourselves they insisted that this was there policy and do not give refunds. I have contacted my credit card company and have notified Watchdog. This company should be ashamed of themselves. We will not be using them again!

Sykes only care about their pocket..customers and cottage owners don't count. During the Covid-19 lockdown Sykes cancelled the holidays with no refunds offered. Any re-booking is one year out and at 50% premium to the price paid.. immoral profiteering, will never book with them again!

I wouldn’t even give them a single star! Completely immoral and irresponsible company profiteering from a national health crisis! Paid £2,500 for an Easter break and 60th birthday gathering but due to the covid 19 lockdown we cannot travel and neither can the owner legally provide the accommodation. Despite this Sykes are refusing a refund and keeping the profit. They’re not answering calls or emails and despite offering a change of date you can’t change it even if you wanted. It is disgusting! Never ever use this company!!!

Absolutely awful company, we had just paid £1000 balance a few days before all this covid19 blew up. We are due to travel in 3 weeks, government stopped travel yet company won't refund. It was a family get together, in our party there are a pregnant lady, over 70 year old parents and a high risk sheiding lady, all advised by the government to isolate let alone the newest ban on travel. This just can't be right, we are so disappointed, can't rebook as nothing this year and no one can plan holidays re work for nexr year. Going to get further legal advice AVOID AVOID AVOID

Even in the midst of a pandemic, Sykes Cottages refuse to do the right thing and refund their customers for bookings that cannot be upheld due to government directives not to travel. Instead expecting their customers to amend dates and paying up to £1000 for the privilege if the dates are dearer (and shock horror, they mostly are) and that is if you can even get a date that is convenient! We are unable to rebook in the school holidays for 2021 as no dates available. Unable to switch properties, so nearly half of our party won't be able to come. Disgraceful, especially feel for keyworkers who cannot plan another holiday at a time like this and those that desperately need their money during this crisis. 2 hour 40 minute call hold times just to be told these are "unprecedented times" and they cannot cancel the contract meaning people are unable to claim on their insurance. When I asked why Airbnb have cancelled and refunded their customers, they claimed this was because they (Airbnb) cover more than just the UK-I still don't understand how that makes sense?! Poor excuse of a CEO who has decommissioned his email address during this mess and any emails sent FAO CEO go through to Customer Service anyway, not Graham Donoghue. Greedy profiteers who have not even contemplated refunding partial monies paid. It;s a shame as from their Twitter feed you can see that some of the property owners disagree with their stance but Sykes will still charge them too. I also feel for their customer service staff having to spout the company line when they must realise how empty and unfair it sounds. Best advice-AVOID SYKES COTTAGES.

I recommend everyone stays clear of this company, paid over £1100 for a Easter holiday. Cannot go because of the present situation.(stay at home which is the correct thing to do). But they will not refund my money Need to be a top lawyer to understand the small print regarding refunds. STAY CLEAR OF SYKES COTTAGES

I am totally disgusted with Sykes Cottages, having attempted to cancel my booking for a holiday cottage in Derbyshire today, following Government directives that all over 70’s must isolate, not go on holiday and stay at home. I am due to go on holiday in seven weeks time - 16th May 2020 and wished to cancel as it seems unlikely that this coronavirus will be over by then. I booked several months ago with Sykes and paid the special offer price of £50 deposit. It should have been £181.50. To cancel the holiday, through no fault of our own, we were charged the £131.50 price to make the amount up to the required deposit price. We have now lost £181.50, as Sykes have refused to give us a refund, we have lost the holiday, and we are both pensioners. I will never book with Sykes cottages again! When I have tried to phone them on several occasions the phone is cut off their end and despite sending several emails, I have received no replies. How can you cope with a company with these morals!
