I write to Sykes Cottages to try to get my dates moved as I was due to holiday on the 5th of July. I’m about to be made redundant and so wanted to make sure that I could move the date to next year and received no response to my 2 emails. So decided to cancel as was stating to wonder if they would even refund me anything. I have yet to hear from them and am now down £400 and no chance of a holiday with them. I will NEVER book with them again !

Do not do business with this shameful organisation Had the option been available my rating would have been zero stars. Relationships with service providers are either cemented or decimated by moments of truth when values and integrity are tested. The approach taken by Sykes in response to the onset of the Corona virus epidemic has been shameful. None of the parties to the booking arrangement was responsible for the fact that the Corona Virus necessitated the cancellation of the booking and rendered the contract for services null and void. And yet from the outset Sykes belligerently refused to provide a refund and sought to obviate its responsibilities in facilitating that solution. The complete absence of telephone support and non-response to emails only exacerbated the dreadful experience for customers impacted by the booking cancellations. I believe that the culture and integrity of organisations is set from the top. The fact that Graham Donoghue (CEO) chose to ignore correspondence sent to him by recorded delivery at both his home and work address, speaks volumes as to the arrogance and discourtesy which permeates the Sykes business. No doubt they will be dragged kicking and screaming by the Competition and Markets Authority to provide the reimbursements to which their customers have always been entitled, but all good faith with customers has long since been destroyed. My advice to all future potential customers of Sykes is to avoid dealing with this company at all costs.

Worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. Incompetent, uncaring, unprofessional and unfair. Impossible to contact and when you do it results in inconsistent and confusing answers. Sykes take your money even though they cannot deliver the contract due to Covid19 restrictions so you end up out of pocket and no holiday. Arrogant company that refuses to refund despite the Government regulator clearly stating that if the contract was frustrated due to Covid19 restrictions they are required to offer a full refund. Will never use again and I do NOT recommend this company.

Awful company who are determined to grab as much money as they can while they can.Pity they don’t put as much energy and enthusiasm into actually HELPING their customers,particularly when it comes to refunds.Which they are very reluctant to give,even when consumer law and government say that they should.

Booked holiday last August (2019) as was attending wedding. Wedding no longer going ahead so contacted Sykes. I must admit I was in dread of the outcome bearing in mind other views. Well, I couldn't have been more surprised. Wonderful customer service, all by phone, full refund provided - no credit to account to use in future and all sorted before final payment due date. Perfect solution. Can't understand why others are having such problems. Bear in mind they are dealing with a lot of queries right now, email and on phone whilst isolating themselves so it's no wonder response times are going to be longer. Can't have asked for a better outcome. 10/10

At this present time they don’t even deserve 1 star! I have been contacting them since March for a refund & all I get are automated messages!

Very difficult to get in touch with following my accommodation being cancelled by them in light of lockdown. Still waiting for a refund almost 3 months later. I'd never use again.

A pity I have to give 1 star, More than they deserve! Sykes are determined to profit from this pandemic at their customers expense, No refunds offered, just a useless credit note. Avoid at all costs.

Astonishingly corrupt company. During covid 19 I've never come across a company that has actively gone out of its way to rip of decent customers. Refunds refused. Zero customer service. T&C changed frequently to suit the companies financial needs and gains.

Booked through Sykes, they take your money. But any problems you have to get in touch with the owner, only they won't give you their details. They do not answer any phone calls or emails. BEWARE the company uses lots of different names

Consumer law states that they must give you a cash refund if the if the cancellation is due to restrictions imposed by law. Everybody should take legal action against them if they fail to comply with the law.

From the day Covid 19 took hold and government restrictions were put in place Sykes have been disgraceful. They have done everything possible to lie and cheat customers out of their hard earned money (£4155) in my case. Would never use them or any of their other companies ever again!!

Wouldn't actually give any star!! I've lost £300 deposit. Supposed to be in Wales this Friday 12th June. Obviously we cant go. When the time came a few weeks ago to pay full amount felt I had no choice but to cancel. Didn't want to have to fight to get £1000 back off them weeks later. With a good possibility of not getting any back at all. Customer services useless, when you can get through to them! On average waited on line 30 mins. I'm a keyworker, so is my son we were really looking forward, as a family, to this week away especially as we've been so busy at work. I feel Sykes have treated not only myself but hundreds of other people dreadfully. I will never book with this company again.

Had a cottage booked for May, lock down came, Sykes took the money anyway , and have refused to refund the money, offering a myriad of excuses, never answer the phone send emails that are just standard, terrible company please please avoid

As per hundreds of others, our holiday was cancelled due to covid. We undersood this no problem. But to be completely ignored time after time by email is totally wrong. An automated voice message saying no calls will b answered due to massive backlog also made things worse. The only reply was a very blunt one telling me that I had to rebook for next year. I explained by email we cant book for next year as my friend who was due to travel with us next week has a debilitating condition and cannot plan ahead . Their reply? Take someone else with you.... I, like many more, want our money back. Very very upsetting stressful and unkind

Had to cancel because of COVID 19, Sykes took over £200 deposit, despite knowing we couldn't travel. Now trying to get the money back. Awful company, will never use them again

What an awful company to deal with. They are still holding money of mine in an ex.gratia voucher which I did not ask for. Dozens of emails have gone unanswered. Hopefully, now the CMA have stepped in they will be forced to repay people's hard earned money. There are over four thousand members on Sykes unhappy customers on Facebook. All being treated despicably. Decent cottage owners are also leaving them. Before you book with Sykes take a look at the Facebook group for Sykes unhappy customers.
