TR informed on twitter (only way to contact them as turned phones off) because of coronavirus and FCO advises against all essential travel my holiday is cancelled and I will need to claim on my travel insurance. TR then informed they will issue a credit note. Then TR informed that will issue a refund if you do not want to accept the credit note. All via Twitter. The hotel part of the holiday had not been paid so the refund should have been refunded. Not TR as they hold on to your money. The flight had also sent email to inform the flight can be rebooked at a later date or register for a refund. Not TR as they keep hold of your money. Arranged a chargeback via the CC and after a period of time. TR informed my CC I am not entitled to a refund and charged it back to my card. Informed TR via Twitter and TR informs I have already had the credit back to my card, not acknowledging they have already taken back the money. This travel company I advise to never book with them and I advise to find a decent company that can look after the customer when a crisis happens. TR are impossible to deal with at this time and made a stressful situation even more stressful. So TR still have my money even though the hotel has not been paid(most hotels only charge TR the day you check out) The flight cost that is being refunded back to them. This is still ongoing with a complaint to ABTA and an investigation with my credit card company.

I have booked with TR for many years and never had a problem.Covid put a stop to my Easter holiday and I have now had a full refund 18th May without requesting or pestering or abusing them These people have thousands of booking to sort out and probably with skeleton staff give them a chance and be patient and yes I will definitely be booking with them again

In amongst all the current holiday mayhem with people unable to get refunds from so called big companies that travel republic refunded all of our money in timely fashion. Due to travel to Jersey on April 6th but coronavirus put paid to that -- TR said they would refund me week commencing May 25th and this they did for both hotel and an easyjet flight.

We were due to fly on the 6th April to lanzarote, which was cancelled by TR, we’ve heard nothing no email, you try calling but know answer, it cost us £1124 in flights, I think it’s disgusting they took your money Quick enough now we’re fighting to get it back.

I have not been as unlucky as some of the other people that have used this company and upon reading their reviews I sympathise completely. However, as a matter of principle I wanted to join in, in warning people just how uncompassionate this company is. Last year one of my oldest friends announced he would be getting married in Ibiza in July 2020. Unfortunate for him and his fiancé something unprecedented happened, COVID-19. They tried their best to hold out and hope that this would blow over, but no such luck, flights were being cancelled let right and centre and their guest were dwindling, so a sensible decision was made to move the wedding to next year. Following this news I of course contact Travel republic to explain why I wanted to cancel, but that I may re-book with them for next year. With no acknowledgement of my reasons for cancelling, or offer of a transfer of balance to a new booking, they flatly asked for a £40 cancellation fee. I replied saying “It’s extremely disappointing to know that despite the whole world being affected by the coronavirus pandemic you have decided that you are not going to make an exception and ask for a £40 cancellation fee when I’ve given you a justifiable reason for cancelling. I have no control over the airlines and their decision to cancel my flights. My friends are also extremely unlucky to have to cancel their wedding, but lucky for them, their venue has allowed them to reschedule to next year. I’ll be sure to not use Travel republic when I rebook for next year“, however with no acknowledgement of anything I’d said and still no offer to transfer my balance, they still asked if I wanted to proceed, as if they didn’t understand my reasons for asking them to cancel! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

June booking within the UK cancelled by venue due to not being allowed to open. TR sent an email a few days ago to inform they would be taking full payment for booking on 1st June; unless they heard differently from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. I messaged back immediately to inform the venue had already cancelled and, in any event, what did any decision by the FCO have to do with a short break booked within the UK? TR ignored my question and informed they would take full payment unless I cancelled with them, at which point they would charge a cancellation fee. Heads they win tales you loose. Without boring all to death with the full exchange between myself and TR, I STRONGLY advise you not to have anything to do with them. Use their site to find your accommodation, but contact the venue directly and cut out TR.

THE CONTACTLESS TRAVEL AGENT My holiday was due to start on 16/03/20. Tried for a few days before to speak to them about cancelling the holiday but their lines were all down. So finally flew off to Kenya on the 16th to connect with flight to Mombasa in Istanbul. In Istanbul I was not allowed to board the next flight and was flown home the next day by Turkish Airlines. Tried to contact Travel Republic again without success. However I received an email from them telling me since I had a hotel only booking if I wanted repatriation to contact my airline. I had a package holiday with Travel Republic which they seem to have conveniently forgotten. Sent them a recorded letter which has never been answered. What they have been able to do - collect the hotel charges totalling £1475 from my MBNA card who warned me if I took steps to block payment they would put a black name against my name. So our £2502 holiday ended in Istanbul. That was the last I heard from Travel Republic. Will never use them again. TRAVELLERS BEWARE!!!!!

This is driving me bananas. Travel Republic owe me £1427. I received a email from them saying that they owed me £1355. I wrote and corrected them. I have no idea where they got the £1355 from as the amount on my credit card says they took £1427 from me on 07/01/2020. They then write again and say they are going to repay me £1355 and my concern is closed. There is no way of contacting them. Ugh

Unable to speak to anyone from Travel Republic. A message on their phone line says they are only assisting those currently in resorts at the moment and then cuts you off. The links on their website regarding cancellations and amendments to existing bookings are broken. No response from emails sent. I have paid for my accommodation in full and it appears there no way to get any refunds (or speak to anyone). I won't give up but might need to go down a different route to claim a refund (travel insurance, ABTA, credit card company).

Just got an email to say my holiday at the end of May has been cancelled. Followed the instructions they sent and requested a refund in under 2 minutes. I know I haven’t got my Refund yet but so far this is much easier than my experience with British Airways on my other holiday where I can’t even register my claim and they cut me off when calling.

I don’t mind being cancelled, it’s the sad times we are in but Travel republic waited until the very last minute to cancel my holiday despite the airline announcing it was grounded, Turkey being closed, they refused to accept it, told me to cancel at my expense.lose flight fee and pay a surcharge, I have now lost my annual leave as it’s now too late to cancel . Dreadful company in a crisis , customer service cut and paste answers , very little support . Will never use them Again
