This is a scam company, do not use their services!!! We had a problem with renting a car at Bologna airport and spend 5 hours there. We couldn’t take a car (when it was already paid in full) because we don’t have the correct credit card. They made a replacement for another car in another service. As a result, I was not refunded for the first car and rented two cars at the same time. Their call center first shouted at us and now just ignore us.

WORST AGENCY EVER!!!! DO NOT BOOK!!! I had to cancel the reservation not because of my fault but for the rental car place fault. And this rentalscars agency in Uk had me on the phone with 4 different people 2 rude women said I can only change the reservation or I will loose the whole amount which was more than $700. One of them even hanged up on me. And then 2 other men said that they could cancel and refund me but charge me 3 days of the rental which ended up charging me $84. It’s better that than losing the whole $700 but its still so unfair. This people are THIEVES!!! Many agencies are just trying to recover the money the lost during the pandemic. DONT FALL FOR IT.

I have used them a bit and they take your money but zero service when it gores wrong - i rented an Alamo/Guerin at Lisbon airport, car broke down and Guerin' service was truly awful. I had to use ubers for a week, I contacted both Guerin and Rentalcars fro a refund as the car had only worked for one short trip and Guerin would not bring a replacement - neither responded. Guerin seem to still think I have the car when it is in the hotel car park where I reported it broken down for the second time and RentalCars just don't respond - i am getting a refund via my card provider - avoid them!

Don’t use them, book directly with the rental company. Prices look great, but then your reservation gets cancelled without telling you (invalid confirmation number) and you end up either without a car or paying 3 times what you budgeted. Awful customer service as well, refused to help.

The company is refusing to reimburse a rental charge for a reservation that "they made on my behalf" after telling me the reservation had failed to process. I attempted to make a reservation online one evening via rentalcars.com. Both attempts resulted in a message popping up "Unable to process......" So I went and made a rental reservation with another company. Seven hours later, early morning the next morning, I was sent a reservation confirmation email by this company. All I can figure is the failed transaction from the night before ended up in some queue somewhere and someone found it and put it through. I didn't do it. The rentalcars.com system did it or someone that works there did it. It's just a guess on my part what happened in the background at rentalcars.com. Soooo, as soon as I noticed the reservation email in my email inbox, I cancelled the reservation and I notified them of the mix-up and explained what happened and asked them to refund the money charged to my credit card (their system wouldn't refund the rental charge claiming it was a same day rental). You won't believe this, but they told me (and I have it in writing), that same day reservations that are cancelled are not refunded. Again, I told them what happened (in writing in email). They continue to claim that in the wee hours of the morning that I made the reservation, which I absolutely did not. I was physically not internet connected at that time. It was impossible for me to do that. They seem to have a website issue where they tell the prospective customer that transactions fail and then some number of hours later they put the transaction through. It's not a lot of money. Just $33.80 USD. It's the principal. Their system is in error. I've not experienced a company being so difficult on a simple issue like this. Clearly they don't believe what I am telling them. Why would I go and reserve another car and spend more $ for the same size car for the same itinerary at the same location??? I've contacted my credit card company to dispute this and get it worked out. I figured I'd share what has happened to warn everyone that rentalcars.com has website problems and they don't accept accountability when strange things happen as a result!! I won't be trying to rent through them again.

Appalling Customer Service. Cancel, cancel, cancel if u can. Our flight was changed by BA meaning a collection was needed at 10.30am not 1pm. It could be changed but to the tune of an extra £100. Nope cancelled and would never recommend or use again. There whole approach was awful, we had a lucky escape from using a bunch of cowboys.

Rentalcars.com used to be a great company. Now my recent experience makes me wonder what has happened? I rented a car via rentalcars.com for a 5 day rental in Crete, Greece. Their agent was a company called SK Autocar (seems to have a few names). I rented a low cost budget car - advertised as a Chevrolet Spark (or similar). What I was given by the Greek cowboys was a wreck. 99,000 KM on the clock. Terrible condition, filthy interior. Faulty steering alignment, serious brake shudder. A car with 1 airbag (if it works). Bits of trim fallen off, and in nasty condition. If you are worried about covid? This dirty car will remind you that cleanliness is really not necessary. Ingrained dirt and other human DNA will be available in vast quantities. I probably paid more than the car was worth. Rentalcars.com have very long waits for customer support (mine took 45 minutes when they lost my booking). The friendly agent will tell you they have no clue what to do. In my case the lost booking was a real challenge. Cannot use 'chat' (need a booking reference, and their system lost mine), have to wait in the phone queue and then you're told - lots of customers have this problem. Well they did get it sorted in my case, but it added lots of stress and wasted time. Do your self a favour - go somewhere else as the price differences are quite small and many other companies now offer the insurance options rentalcars.com have. So far no response to my written complaint, so I've escalated to the CEO Ian Brown. Google and you can find his email address. A real shame this was such a bad experience, my previous rentals with this company have been fine.

Absolute scam company. They overbooked, which means despite arriving at the right place, at the right time. Despite messaging immediately CarRentals, they provided no options for a new vehicle, and told me I had to wait until the end of the rental period (2 weeks) to claim a refund. Having claimed a refund, I've told it can be 28 days to resolve the claim, and they had to verify my story. This should have been solved on the day by contacting their supplier. Having seen other people comments, I think it's highly likely I'm not getting a refund for the car they did not provide. Absolute theft.

After a problem with the first rental I made, that was made out to be my fault when they gave the car away to someone else, I made another reservation that was very expensive at the airport where I waited for over two hours for the other car. I go inside to check for the desk inside the airport that the reservation says is there and there is no desk for this car rental service in the airport. After talking to the other car rental agencies (that had no cars available) I find out that the company that I booked through rental cars is no longer in service after COVID. I did not receive any car, had to find a way from a tiny airport in the middle of nowhere into a city to book a third rental (not through rental cars). I made an enquirer and requested a refund and was told that it would be processed in 28 days. After 38 days and I was still not refunded so I called their customer service AGAIN and they said it will be another 2-3 weeks until I will see a refund. 54 days since the booking and still no refund! So all together I paid rental cars almost 700 euro and never got a car from them and haven’t seen a refund! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Paid for rental but I didn't get any car. The reason was because I was 30 mins late. No refund either, and customer services inexistent. Ref no 719976311

I booked a rental car in Germany through Rentalcars for US$ 853.87 for a total of 33 days and paid by credit card. I picked up the rental car from Europcar near Frankfurt on June 19. On the way to Cologne, the window suddenly broke. In Cologne, I tried for two days to get a replacement car. However, Europcar could not provide me with one. Europcar in Cologne where I dropped off the damaged car confirmed both on June 21: the damaged window, which prevented me from continuing my journey safely, and the fact that no other car could be made available to me on June 21. Europcar refused to refund me the unused 31 days rental fee, stating that I had booked and paid for the car through Rentalcars, I should contact Rentalcar. After quite a few phone calls and submitting reports and documentation, Rentalcars told me that they would not refund me since I had picked up the car and returned it earlier. The reason was indifferent to them. So I had to pay another US$900+ to get another rental car. I call this fraud, as Europcar or Rentalcars did not fulfill their side of the contract - to provide me with a safe to drive car.

Dishonest, fraudulent and borderline scam agency. Booked a car on their website, paid the rental with a card from a bank with which they had a PARTNERSHIP in place. Get to the rental pick up site, they said they don't accept this card to make the deposit and finalize the pick up processe. It turns out the card is not accepted by the rental companies, although they don't tell you that at any time during the booking process. They just want your money on their side. After that, you just call their customer service and they tell you that, deep on their T&Cs you'd have to bring another card to finalize the pick up and that EVEN if you'd called them at the counter like they say, you could only get refunded your booking value - 3 days rental cost. Meaning, I booked for 2 day rental, so no refund whatsoever. They literally steal you 3 days rental worth by a service they mislead you to purchase incorrectly and that assumes you can even qualify for a refund by their T&Cs. Customer service attitude is just like "tough luck, no money back". On top of that, I ended up having to rent at last minute with another agency by myself and pay 3x market rate due to such short notice on a Friday evening. This company is an outright fraud looking to lure potential clients to a one off purchase, knowingly perfectly well that based on the service they provide it will be the last time you'd book with them. Save yourself the trouble and cost later, and pay a few extra euros/dollars and rent with another agency or rental directly.

I booked and paid for a rental car through rentalcars.com but when I arrived to pick it up I was advised that the booking had been cancelled. I paid an additional $580 to book another car (this time directly with the rental car company). When I wrote to rentalcars.com requesting a refund, I got a poorly written and completely nonsensical response. I'm still waiting for a refund. Don't use this company!

Don’t use these Scamers!!! Booked with Rentalcars.com for pickup in Orlando. A complete SCAM!!! I noticed a week prior to trip pickup times were incorrect, per automated system you can amend your reservation online… but that’s not true!!!!! I called the # on the confirmation page which routed us to the rental car Comp directly where we were told they would be closed when we arrived & adjustments could not be made to the pickup time..?? We were unable to pickup our vehicle, our reservation was cancelled AND was charged the FULL rate? I finally was able to speak with Rentalcar.com advised I called the wrong #, which was not avail on our conf page and would not issue a refund…. So we double paid for our rental ruining our park ticket budget. So horrible. Waste of time

The WORST company. It was advertised as free cancelation, and a few hours after I booked I had read some bad reviews so decided to cancel, they charged me $65 to cancel, and I called them to reverse that charge and they said they could not do that since I already canceled it online. Now I'm disputing with Amex. HORRIBLE company. DO NOT USE. Attached is the pic where it was advertised as free cancelation.

Good evening, Today I made a reservation for the first time with your company for renting a car. It was the most dramatic experience I have ever had in an online product market, as I have made hundreds of online purchases and I have always been happy. Above all, I did not feel that there was any kind of exploitation in previous markets or deals online. In this case I did a 4 hour search for prices where they wrote final car rental prices and I ended up in rentalcars after the final price with VAT was confirmed at 53.76 euros. When I entered the site the first thing that was listed was the free booking cancellation and refund. So when I made the reservation it had some terms and conditions in small letters and clearly I did not read them since they were something pages. And in every purchase I have made in the past I skipped this as the necessary cost information was listed on the home page in large letters and clearly. When I paid the reservation I learned that the car company wanted a guarantee of 750 euros from a credit card. I immediately clicked with a click option to cancel the reservation. And it was canceled automatically. After 3 minutes I was looking to return the reservation and it was not possible. After contacting employees of the company, who were very helpful clearly, they explained to me that because I clicked cancel, I lose my money or at best we will make another reservation giving so much more money. I am honestly ashamed that I live in such a system and especially that there are companies that can literally steal someone's money without providing any service at all. I have worked in various fields and even the 0.50 euros I would not deprive someone of without reward ... I am in a place where I can not take a single step because I have broken lower limbs and I wanted to rent a car for two days to see something outside .. I gave my last money, since due to sick leave I am not paid, as a result of which I was left without money and without a car in the end .. The result was not good either for me or for such a big company like you that with one wrong click you can make so many mistakes and eventually come out on top. At the moment I do not know if someone will see this email or if the one who will see it knows Greek ... But I am sure that if you leave your site like this, other people will suffer as well. It may not have happened so far but it will definitely happen. And someone else may be in a worse position than me when he throws more than a day's work in the trash. I sincerely regret that there are so easily thieves and we sign and consent to it without even realizing it ... No matter how much you say that I did not read the fine print and advocate, you have no right to take money from an ordinary citizen without him provide service. This message will be shared unfortunately because that is how we are united ... Good continuation and good work!

The worst company you can ever rent with. It’s all to do with ripping people off by suggesting you can only book a car when have a credit card. Obviously when you use the bank money as if your money is not good. It is basically suggesting that they allow your bank to charge you interest on the money you borrowed rather than using your own money and similarly if you don’t have a credit card at the time of the booking then they don’t give you your refund because you have already accepted their terms and conditions that are written too little and no where to be seen.
