We aimed to hire a car with baby seats in Florence via rentalcars.com We gave 6 months notice . They emailed out a checklist which stated that one credit card was needed and also there was a link on the app labelled "Important information . Please read before picking up your car" This also stated that one credit card was needed. Pretty definitive right? Two direct communications one via email and one on the app. Well when we got to the desk of the company B Rental, they said we needed two credit cards. They also tried to sell us damage waiver insurance that we didn't need and then told us that they had no baby seats. So on two levels the booking was useless. Rentalcars.com refused to take responsibility for their inaccurate email and app communications and pointed us to the small print. Basically their communications are there to catch you out it seems. They offered us a discount without saying how much discount but also advised us to call well in advance to activate this undefined discount and also refused to say what "well in advance " meant. So therefore they were offering nothing concrete whatsoever. They have the worst communication and their customer service is shoddy and unhelpful in the extreme.

I have reserved a car in Crete and for a technical problem that they have i didn't took the car and now they don't want to give my money back. Very bad company! They do more money from cheating people that from renting.

I had the misfortune of renting a car through booking.com/rentalcars.com. I got a great deal for a 2 week rental in London but when I got to the counter of Europcar the insurance I purchased through rentalcars.com was deemed insufficient and I was not allowed to take the car unless I paid an extra £700 which I did not have. Rentalcars.com STOLE $294 from me and would not refund it. I canceled that day and they gave me the run around for 2 weeks then finally said it’s not their fault and STOLE $294 from me.

Absolute joke of a company. Rented a car to be collected from Easirent Heathrow who were unable to provide the car, but apparently not entitled to a refuld from Easirent or Rentalcars. More of a fraud than a car rental website

This is a fraudulent company. They will charge you twice and if you return your car earlier they will not refund you

I rarely write up reviews, but feel I should share how badly handled the customer service was with rentalcars following a booking 3 months ago. I had made a booking through Rentalcars at Sofia airport with Enterprise at 4am, rentalcars had my flight number and had ensured there would be a rep as they provide out of hours service. On landing, no rep to process our booking. I spent 2 hours trying to contact people locally from Enterprise and contacted Rentalcars who also tried to get in touch, nothing. As it was early there was only one other local hire car agency open, Rentalcars advised I could make a booking through them and they would reimburse the difference. Good service I thought. I even checked the price difference with them to ensure it was OK. 3 months later I'm still trying to claim this difference as promised on their recorded calls, they have tried to fob me off saying the flight number wasn't recorded but has been easily been proven wrong by me with their confirmation bookings. Completely dire service leaving me out of pocket.

I booked the car through rentalcars.com & they didn't show any information regarding the basic requirements, they accepted the payment & when I went for pickup at budget the person processed my booking accepting the indian driving license & asked for passport which I left at home. He asked me to get passport from home at my convenience while pickup & rest process is been done. When I came back for pickup travelling really long, the lady refused to accept the booking, saying they need international driving license. She refused even after explaining that international driving license is just translation of my Indian license (which was not required as the license I had was in English) & is accepted by other car rental companies. She told me that they are processing the refund & would receive the refund soon. After a week I asked them for refund & they told me that please contact rentalcars as the booking was through them. I asked rentalcars & they told me that you won't be able to get refund as you failed to provide international driving license. Even after explaining that international driving license is just translation of my Indian license (which was not required as the license I had was in English) & is accepted by other car rental companies, still they are not processing the refund. In my opinion this is a clear ripoff.

Received information from Rentalcars employees that was incorrect. As a result was I unable to receive the car I rented when I went to pick it up. I was unable to contact Rentalcars on the phone at the time, as I was kept on hold until 20.00, after which the line automatically disconnected. They subsequently refused a refund, claiming I had not attempted to contact them.

I was searching the internet at the beginning of April for car rentals in Florida. Almost immediately a web site, Rentalcars.com blocked my search. I tried to get rid of it, but popping up interfering with my search. Very aggressive website - technically excellent. Eventually, - as I assume it was a price comparison site, I accepted it's offers and I booked my rental car from 12 June to 31 July and accepted their offer of insurance policy. As soon as I gave my credit card details - assuming that I pay the deposit £200.00 only - the total estimated cost for the rental and the insurance, totalling £1457.47 was taken from my account on 9 April. This is more than two months before the rental was to start. (12 June) True, in their (Rentalcars.com) Terms and Conditions - seven pages, printed in miniscule letters - there is a vague reference, which says that: "as soon as the car is confirmed...… we will take the money from your card". It does not clarify whether they take the deposit or the full payment. While in Florida, I checked with leading car rental companies and I could have had a far better deal for both, rental and insurance. I hope that this information will be useful people who are looking for renting a car. Dear Mr. Gary Paxton (chief executive officer) one thing is sure, you will not find me among your customers again. Respectfully submitted, Michael

If I could give less than one star I would. We didn't arrive exactly at the designated pick up time having booked an early time assuming we could therefore pick up that day. As a result, no car was available when we tried to pick up at the desk, even though we had already paid in full, and I've just been charged a "cancellation fee" of nearly £60 despite being left in the lurch in the airport with a baby and a weeping toddler. Today when I tried to get a refund and compensation, the manager hung up on me. Seriously, don't bother.

My original booking was canceled without my knowledge. New booking was open with a car that didn't match previous requirements. After I've made the call to Customer Service, and booking number was canceled, I was offered that with the next booking with Rental Cars I will get a discount. Today (29/07/2019) I've made a new booking, called Customer Service and I was offered £4.32 discount from car booking, didn't include the insurance. It means that I was offered a 2.93% discount. I think something is wrong here... I've come back to book the car, and this is how you treat your Customers? Very Unsatisfied. Additionally what I was told by a person from Customer Service is that: Decision was made by a supervisor, and we need to make money on the bookings. We can't give Discounts, and he suggests to make a complaint! Your own Customer Service confirmed that discount I was given is not good, but he is only the messenger...

Unable to collect car due to insufficient document and then no refund even tho I paid for 7 days car hire - advised by the car hire company that they would deal with everything - they didn't. Then advised to not submit a refund claim until after the hire period and then told I cant claim for a refund as its not within the 48 hour cancellation period. Terrible company policy and when booking they need to advise documentation required and also in the email. Still have no refund - suggest car hire companies no longer use this company.

I won't be using rentalcars.com ever again. We rented a car with them for a three-week holiday. The booking process was straightforward, price was okay, and picking the car up from Sixt was actually a pleasurable experience. Unfortunately, my father died unexpectedly just as we started our holiday so we had to change our plans and bring the car back two weeks early. I called Rentalcars.com and they stated that as they were only a broker we had to deal directly with Sixt to ask about a refund. When I called Sixt, they said that as we'd booked through a third party we had to deal with rentalcars.com to get refund. When I called rentalcars back, they were entirely unsympathetic but refused to change their position. The frustrating thing is that Sixt would have been happy to give a refund if we'd booked directly. In short, although you may think you are saving a bit of money by going through rentalcars.com, their complete inflexibility and their total lack of sympathy at what has been a devastating time for us has cost us more money that we'll ever save, even if we book through them every time we use a hire car (which obviously we won't be doing ever again). Do yourselves a favour and go direct to the hire car companies and save yourself the massive hassle and frustration on the rare occasions where something goes wrong. I should point out that I have no complaints whatsoever with my experience with Sixt for this booking and would happily recommend them and use their service again.

They manage to obtain cheap prices from the rental companies, but at the end of the rent these companies will always find a way to charge you for an extra and when you contact Rentalcars for support they will not take responsibility and tell you to contact the rental company directly. Watch out it looks cheap in the beginning but always very expensive at the end…

Awful company. Sold me a car with a baby seat, and when we arrived in Turkey the car hire company Green Motion didn’t have a seat. They said they’ve not even received an order for one. So I had to drive illegally to the hotel as it was late and put my babies life at risk. My girlfriend and baby couldn’t use the car for the rest of the trip so all plans were ruined. Rentalcars since offered me £22 refund for the car seat and no other compensation. An absolute insult. I use this company all the time, at least 5 times per year. Won’t be doing any more. The customer service is horrific.

Furious with this company Furious with this company. Arrived in Malaga this morning, with my voucher from Rentalcars.com that states quite clearly credit and debit cards accepted. The hire company said, 'no debit cards allowed for deposit'. I called Rentalcars.com who agreed that they gave me the wrong information and could only apologise. To get the car I had to take the hire companies insurance (despite already having insurance with a uk broker) wich cost me an additional 206 Euro. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!

Extras for just about everything and was very unprofessional organising us our car. They also advised us that if we kept the original insurance we paid for we would have to cover an extra £1250.00 cost on our credit card. We had to take out insurance cover from them. All in all it was very stressful. They wanting us to tick all was check boxes before we even seen the car. After near an hour they handed us the car keys and left us to find the car. Even then we had to go back to the office because they didn't give us a ticket to get out of the car park. They also charged us £45 for petrol usage but only left less than half a tank of petrol. After a short while. I had to fill up the tank to complete my journey returning the car with over half a tank left. They say they will refund the £45.00 along with the £125.00 excess insurance they charged us. Please could you make sure they do this To be honest, It was the worst car rental I ever had and would never recommend or hire a car from them again

NEVER RENT A CAR WITH THIS COMPANY! Our flight got delayed and we stood at Valencia AirPort at 1.30 at night with 4 children and no car. We took 2 taxi’s to our destination. Next day the car was ‘gone’, according to Rentalcars.com as we we ‘no show’ and this was our own risk...! They Did not offer any solution for another car and told us we have to pay for 3 days if we want to cancel the contract (and look for another car rental ourselves. They promised to call back, but never did. So €180 for no car and €200 on taxi’s and phonecost further, we still have no car ... what a fraude....
